Hendrick Chevrolet Shawnee Mission Reviews (15)

It would appear that Mr [redacted] originally placed a $deposit on a vehicle with Hendrick Chevrolet in order to have this vehicle transported to Hendrick Chevrolet from a different location with the intention to purchase the vehicle once it arrived at the dealer Prior to shipping the vehicle and finalizing the transaction, Hendrick Chevrolet discovered the vehicle was previously titled in Canada and therefore cannot be sold as a GM Certified unit in the United States This information was communicated to Mr [redacted] in a timely manner, as we deemed it could affect whether or not Mr [redacted] wanted to continue with the purchase Through a series of emails, it was eventually determined that Mr [redacted] would rather not purchase this vehicle and it appears he did end up purchasing one elsewhere At this point, I see no reason for Hendrick Chevrolet to hold Mr [redacted] ’s deposit, and I will instruct the accounting office to refund his credit card for the full deposit amount of $If you need any additional information please feel free to reach out to me via phone or email I apologize to yourself and Mr [redacted] for the inconvenience Thank you [redacted] Executive General Manager

Mr*** - thank you for forwarding the consumer's response
It is unfortunate that this situation has occurred, however I would like to reiterate that the vehicle was not purchased at this location, and as such would not have any type of guarantee with this dealershipWe have made what we consider to be a fair offer based on the situation at hand
We would still extend the offer of absorbing the labor, should Mr*** decide to purchase the part as discussed previously with our service manager
Another option might be for Mr*** to discuss some form of reimbursement or warranty repair with the location at which he purchased the vehicle
Again, if you or Mr*** would like to discuss in further detail, please feel free to reach out to *** *** or ** *** directly
Thank you

I've pulled the service history relating to the concerns mentioned. The letters received by the consumer from General Motors were for special coverages, NOT a recall. A special coverage from General Motors requires that there is an existing condition that must be verified prior to
General Motors authorizing any type of warranty repair. One special coverage letter was regarding a fuel composition sensor leaking. The fuel composition sensor on this vehicle was not leaking, so no repair was authorized by General Motors. The second special coverage letter was for excessive oil consumption. The verification process for this specific special coverage is an oil consumption test, which consists of a minimum of sequential visits at least miles apart, and as close to miles apart as possible, in which the vehicle's oil consumption is measured. On the 4th visit, it was determined that a repair was necessary, and the repair was completed. The multiple visits were a requirement of General Motors to verify the vehicle indeed needed repairs due to excess oil consumption. The warranty repair in question was not a related repair, and not covered due to the powertrain warranty on the vehicle expiring 12-22-2016. The oil change agreement from General Motors had also expired by mileage at 69,miles. If the consumer or yourself would like to discuss in more detail, please feel free to reach out to our Service Manager ** *** on his direct line ***, or via email at ***Thank you

The sales
person that helped me in person told me that the internet sales reps job was to get inquiries to come in no matter what. The rep on the phone told me the car was there and to come in. In less than an hour I was there. The rep in person says the car had been sold long before I had calledIt is deception and a means of bait and switch. Are they saying they don't engage in this practice?

I've reviewed all documentation that we have for this transaction, and there does not appear to be any deliberate attempt to mislead MrRiddle. Unfortunately, the vehicle he was interested in did sell prior to his arrival. I do apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you

Complaint:
I am rejecting this response because Hendrick's represented in writing that my AC Operation passed during my pre-purchase inspectionI relied on them for a thorough inspection given their reputationSplitting costs with a customer is usually something that you do when the business and customer are both potentially at faultI have a faulty AC compressor that is leaking dye, although it passed a pre-purchase inspection with Hendrick'sI'm not certain if this business is implying that a more detailed inspection would have taken place with them on the AC if I had purchased the truck from them directlyI assumed that every inspection is done with care and thoroughness regardless of where it was purchasedHendrick's represented that the Air Conditioner Operation in the Truck is operational and passed inspectionCome to find out a couple of days later that it wasn'tNow I have to pay $for their mistake in me relying on them to purchase the vehicle represented with an operational AC?

Our Service Manager, JP ***, has reached out to Ms*** to resolve all concerns. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. If any further action is needed, please feel free to reach out

This vehicle was brought to the dealership with multiple concerns on 9/30/16. One of the diagnosed concerns was an camshaft actuator magnet needing replacedThis repair was completed and the vehicle was ready to be picked up on 10/4/The vehicle was returned with an unrelated issue
concerning a rough idle due to low oil pressure. The repair necessary to fix the low oil pressure concern was diagnosed to be an engine replacement. The customer declined the engine replacement. If further details are needed, please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Upon investigating this situation with the body shop manager, he informed me that Mr*** concerns were addressed and resolved on Friday 8/18.I do apologize to Mr*** for the delays and lack of communication on our behalf. Please
feel free to contact me directly with any additional concerns. Thank you

Mr. [redacted] -Thank you for bringing this to our attention.  I inquired about this situation with our service manager, and received a detailed explanation.  We do not believe at this point the dealership should be responsible for repairs to a vehicle that was not purchased from this...

location.  Unfortunately, mechanical and electronic failures can occur at any time and without warning, and are not always easily detectible.  If you or the customer would like to discuss in further detail, please feel free to reach out to [redacted] or [redacted] directly. The service manager's comments are located below:I did tell the customer that we would not take responsibility for the ABS since the light was not on at the time and that we would have no way to predict the failure of that system.  In regards to the air conditioning, the technician did verify that the AC was working in the shop. Our shop is heated so with it being cold outside, ambient air temperature outside the shop would not play a factor.  I told the customer that yes we turned on the AC and the tech did verify the air coming out of the vents was cold. We did not perform an evacuate and recharge of the AC system because that is a service in addition to the inspection process.  The customer stated that the AC quit working the following day so he paid to have an evacuate and recharge done. I explained exactly how it came to be that we verified it was blowing cold. I told him that in the interest of customer satisfaction, I would reimburse him for our inspection fee and for his evacuate and recharge fee that he paid to the other shop. He agreed to the reimbursement of $282.98. I filled out the check request that day. The customer called the next day(Saturday) and said the dye from the evacuate and recharge is showing a leak at the compressor. I told him that I would check with the parts manager on getting an adjusted price on the compressor to see what we could do to help. I called him on Monday and offered the compressor at $398.40 plus tax and we would take care of the labor to install it. The other shop had the compressor priced for $634.01. He declined stating we should be responsible for the entire bill. No one could have known it was going to need a compressor without the evacuate and recharge being performed and ultimately the dye showing from the compressor. We had no reason to perform the evacuate and recharge since the air was cold in our shop. If we had, he would have had to pay for that as well in addition to the inspection. If we had done it, it still would have needed the compressor. The other shop didn’t know it would need a compressor without performing the evacuate and recharge. I thought the offer to reimburse for both services was more than fair.

Mr. [redacted]'s Corvette has required some extensive repairs. The vehicle arrived on Septemebr 28. As he mentioned he has [redacted]. [redacted] approved the original repair estimate 10/2 and parts were ordered. When all parts were recieved in late October the repairs began. During the repair...

process additional damage was found requiring a supplement to [redacted]. The 1st supplement was approved by [redacted] on 11/3 and the parts were ordered. Repairs continued and supplemental parts arrived between 11/11-16. When the entire rear of car was disassembled additional damage was dicovered and submitted to [redacted]. Parts arrived for suuplement #2 on 12/2. Repair work has continued until present time. Our Estimator Chris M[redacted] and our Body Shop Manager, Craig S[redacted] have been in communication with Mr. [redacted] on a near daily basis for updates. As originally stated, the damage is extensive and Mr. [redacted] has a very nice car and our technicians are working herd to restore the vehicle to "pre-accident" condition. The New car sales department has also worked with Mr. [redacted] numerous times when he requested to trade the vehilce prior to finishing the repairs, but figures have not been agreeable to Mr. [redacted].  I was personally involved each time he was in talkink to his salesman, Don R[redacted]. We feel that we are close to having the vehicle completed and Mr. [redacted] should be able to get his repaired vehicle back within the next 10 days. Since this is a fairly new very high tech vehicle with many electrical components some parts took longer than others to arrive. Craig and I are reviewing the repair status daily until the vehicle is complete.  Mike M[redacted]Hendrick Chevrolet

I've investigated this specific claim with all parties involved at the dealership.  To the best of my knowledge, it would appear that a deal was never consummated with Mr. [redacted].  Transactions that are completed with multiple states and hundreds of miles between the consumer and the...

dealer are often very difficult to transact due to the logistics involved.  It appears the dealership employees made multiple attempts to contact the customer and complete the transaction, but were largely unsuccessful.  I'm not showing that we have any paperwork on file to complete the transaction, nor do we have any money deposited from Mr. [redacted] that would need to be refunded.  I do apologize for the inconvenience and time spent by Mr. [redacted] in his attempt to purchase the Corvette.  Thank you.

It would appear that Mr. [redacted] originally placed a $250 deposit on a vehicle with Hendrick Chevrolet in order to have this vehicle transported to Hendrick Chevrolet from a different location with the intention to purchase the vehicle once it arrived at the dealer.  Prior to shipping the...

vehicle and finalizing the transaction, Hendrick Chevrolet discovered the vehicle was previously titled in Canada and therefore cannot be sold as a GM Certified unit in the United States.  This information was communicated to Mr. [redacted] in a timely manner, as we deemed it could affect whether or not Mr. [redacted] wanted to continue with the purchase.  Through a series of emails, it was eventually determined that Mr. [redacted] would rather not purchase this vehicle and it appears he did end up purchasing one elsewhere.  At this point, I see no reason for Hendrick Chevrolet to hold Mr. [redacted]’s deposit, and I will instruct the accounting office to refund his credit card for the full deposit amount of $250. If you need any additional information please feel free to reach out to me via phone or email.  I apologize to yourself and Mr. [redacted] for the inconvenience.    Thank you [redacted]Executive General Manager

Again, upon reviewing all documentation on file, we do not show any deliberate attempt to mislead the customer.  I do apologize for him arriving to the dealership and the vehicle being previously sold. It is never the dealership's intent to have a customer arrive at the dealership to purchase a vehicle that is not available.Thank you.
