Re:...

Complaint ID [redacted] Dear Revdex.com:
I wish I could say I was surprised by the complaint filed by [redacted], but I was not. I firmly believe anyone who worked with [redacted] or her case, would not be able to provide adequate service for her.
I have been a private investigator for 40 years. This is the first complaint I have ever had. So, let me respond to each item where [redacted] feels I have failed her.
The issue is not that I have not done a lot of work on this case. The real issue is that my results, have not independently verified [redacted]'s belief that she is the target of a conspiracy of stalkers. Whenever I questioned [redacted] about a particular subject, she felt offended, and felt that I was not being supportive, and as such not doing my job. My job was not to automatically agree with whatever [redacted] said or believed, but rather to independently determine what was really going on, and if her physical well-being was at risk.
First, she feels I downplayed anything she brought up and treated her as if she worked for me — rather than me working for her. As a private investigator, I need information from my client in order for me to do the job I was hired to do. I need to understand my client's specific problem, and how it became a problem. To achieve this, I have to ask my client questions. In [redacted]'s case, my asking her questions, about the problem she hired me to resolve, became a problem in and of itself. So, let me provide some background into [redacted]'s initial problem. [redacted] feels she is being stalked. Not just by one person, but by hundreds of people. The originators of her stalking problem are two police officers, who live in her community. These officers live near [redacted], and according to [redacted], at least one officer watches her as she takes her nightly fitness walks. From what I gathered from [redacted], the officers found her attractive, and wanted to go out with her. Shd went out with one of the officers and spurned the second officer's advances. [redacted] spurned his advances and this angered him. After he was spurned, according to [redacted], he began to harass her.
Shortly after this interaction, as [redacted] was going for one of her evening fitness walks, a pick-up truck pulled out of a local park, and physically struck her. This happened on two occasions. The hit [redacted] received from the truck did not injure [redacted], but it was traumatic. Although there are no independent witnesses to these incidents, I believed [redacted] that these incidents took place. I have told [redacted] as much. [redacted] did not get the license plate of the truck either time it hit her, which is odd. Nor, could [redacted] give a good description of the pick-up. After the truck hit [redacted], it drove away. [redacted] said the truck was driven by a woman, who looked like the harassing police officer's wife. As she continued her walks, she saw a pickup truck parked in the police officer's driveway. [redacted] thought it looked similar to the pick-up truck that hit her. Still, she never wrote down the license plate number.
After this incident, [redacted] started to feel people were following her. She felt the police officer hired a professional investigator to follow her, and watch her every movement. She also felt the police officer brought in people from all over northern Ohio, to follow her to work, follow her home, and follow her on her errands. She even felt people were following her when she had to drive to Columbus. [redacted] told me people followed to work every morning, parked outside of her building, sat in their cars, and just watched her car, and her office. Vehicles drove by her office, constantly throughout the day. They would slow down, or stop, by her window, and look into her office to see what she was doing. Many of these vehicles that drove past her office were black or white SUVs. [redacted] divided the "stalkers" into two categories. She felt the police officer had hired a professional private investigator or investigation company to harass her. These were called "pros." Then, there were the people who were not professionals, and [redacted] called this group of people "posse."
I met with [redacted] on January 2, 2016. She hired me to find out who these people were that were following and harassing her. I explained to [redacted], I could begin working on her case immediately. However, I told her I was having major back surgery on January 8, 2016. The recovery time from the back surgery would be eight to twelve weeks. Once the recovery was complete, I could start working on her case again. [redacted] saw no problem with that time table or scenario. After the January 8, 2016 surgery, I had a follow-up visit with my surgeon on February 22, 2016. He told me I could start physical therapy and work. He told me to still take it easy, and limit my driving for a few more weeks. Eight weeks from the date of my surgery was March 4, 2016. Twelve weeks from the date of my surgery will be April 1, 2016. Again, [redacted] knew of this time table and felt I would better be able to observe what was going on when the weather was nicer.
During this meeting we discussed the "posse." I tried to get [redacted] to explain how she knew which cars were following her and were part of the posse. She said a lot of the cars had "paper tags," which I interpreted to mean temporary tags. The cars were newer SUVs or newer sedans. Many of the cars had license plate holders from out-of-the-county. A lot of posse vehicles were black or white SUVs. Some cars were [redacted], others were just SUVs, and there were a lot of [redacted] following her. Some of the vehicles had things hanging from the mirror. She felt a lot of new SUVs were following her all the way to her house. She was certain people in her community were involved. She saw new SUVs which she estimated cost $35 - $45,000, with temporary tags, all over her community. She was certain these were posse vehicles. Her rationale for this belief was the houses in her community only cost $50 - $70,000, so how could these people af[redacted] expensive SUVs?
I explained to her that car dealers were running huge sales, especially on lease vehicles. It is not difficult to understand that people leasing new cars, at low interest rates, and low payments. [redacted] said that was a possible explanation. However, from her tone and comments, I knew this explanation was not what she wanted to hear. My explanation for newer cars being on the road, especially in her immediate neighborhood, did not fit in with the stalking scenario she had created.
Sometimes, posse vehicles would be in front of [redacted] on I- 90. Sometimes, they would be to the side of her car, or to the rear of her car. Sometimes the drivers of the posse vehicles would make gestures at [redacted]. The drivers would put their index and little fingers by their ears to imitate someone talking on the phone.
On one occasion, [redacted] said she knew a posse vehicle was videoing her as she drove on 1-90. I asked how she knew this. She told me that she could the posse vehicle's video screen, and she recognized her car on the video screen. The video screen was inside of a vehicle that was at least two or three car lengths front of her, and which was moving at least 60 mph.
[redacted] said the posse vehicles would box her in, and she could not pass them on Route 90 as she went to work, and as she came home from work. The posse vehicles would follow her to doctor appointments, to her nail salon, to her hair dresser, and to the store. During our January 2, 2016 meeting, I tried to explain to [redacted] the cost involved in hiring an investigator and "posse" to follow her would be prohibitive. A private investigator would charge $60 - $100 per hour. Even if the police officer were a friend, an investigator would still charge at least $50 per hour. If "posse" drivers were hired at minimum wage, with the number of drivers following her, and the amount of time spent following her, the cost would run into thousands of dollars.
I explained, that for the amount of time she felt she was being followed, the police officer would have had to have paid out tens of thousands of dollars to "posse" drivers. I also told her that what was being done to her was unethical, and I could not imagine a professional, licensed private investigator doing something like this. [redacted] was certain there was a pro involved, as well as "posse."
I believe it was on January 3, 2016, [redacted] sent me an email. The email contained a list of 102 license plates. [redacted] told me these plates were on some of the cars that followed her. As I reviewed the list I found just a few of the plates were duplicates. I began work on [redacted]'s case om January 4, 2016. I arrived at her office at 6:00 A.M. I parked diagonally across the street from her office. I did not tell [redacted] I was going to her office on this morning. I wanted to observe what was transpiring without input from [redacted]. [redacted]'s office building is located on a corner where there is a four way stop. The office is not in downtown [redacted], but east of downtown, in a less busy area. There are several active businesses near [redacted]'s building. When I arrived, at 6:00 A.M. there were several cars already parked on the street, directly across from [redacted]'s office. I photographed these cars and looked inside them. No one was inside of these cars.
On January 4, 2016, [redacted] arrived at work between 7:15 — 7:25 A.M. I sent her a text message asking if she arrived at work, and if anyone followed her. [redacted] told me several cars followed her that morning. She said some of these cars were parked outside of her building, and one of the cars was parked in an empty lot diagonally across from her building. I told [redacted] the car in the empty lot was me, and I had not followed her to work. I also told her the cars that she felt had followed her to work were already parked there at 6:00 A.M., long before she arrived at work. She seemed surprised at that information. Again, it did not fit in with her belief system as it pertained to her being stalked. On January 4, 2016, after 1 left [redacted]'s place of employment, I drove to where she lived. I wanted to get a feel for the area, and see where she took her daily fitness walks. [redacted] had mentioned she felt she was being videoed while she was in her house. She thought cameras were mounted facing her windows, and the stalkers could see inside her house.
[redacted]'s house is on a corner, so I drove around the house. I did not see any cameras: anywhere. I drove up and down the streets in her neighborhood. I saw dozens of newer SUVs with temporary tags. On January 4, 2016, when I returned to my office I began to trace the license plates [redacted] had given me. I used several different sources to trace the plates. I found no common thread linking all of the vehicles or owners. The vehicles were registered to people who lived as far away as [redacted] County and [redacted] County. I did not find any vehicles owned by private investigation companies or security companies. I told [redacted] this. I also told [redacted] that I found it difficult to believe, someone would drive from [redacted] to [redacted] County just to harass someone they did not know, as they drove to work.
Again, this information did not support C-Us belief system regarding "posse" and her being stalked.
On January 5, 2016, I arrived at C-Us place of employment at 5:30 A.M. The same cars which were parked across from her building were parked there on this morning. No one was in the cars. While in the area, I drove to the end of the street where [redacted] works. At the end of the street is the [redacted] Mounted Police headquarters. I saw several black or white SUVs parked in the parking lot. As it turned out, the SENs that drove past [redacted]'s office were police vehicles. When I told this to [redacted], she did not feel the [redacted] Police drove by her building as part of their normal daily routine. She now felt the [redacted] Police were involved in the stalking and harassment conspiracy against her. I remained in the area until 9:00 A.M. I saw cars many cars drive by [redacted]'s office and slow down or stop. They were stopping for the stop signs which are at the corners of the intersection. These cars did nothing suspicious. On January 6, 2016, I arrived at [redacted]'s place of employment at 5:00 A.M. I wanted to see if any different cars arrived and parked in front of her building. When I arrived two cars were parked across from her building. They were two of the same cars that had been parked there on the previous days. While there, three other cars arrived. These cars were also there on previous days. The drivers parked their cars and walked into area businesses. I remained in the area until 9:00 A.M. I then left.
On January 6, 2106 at about 4:30 P.M. I arrived on the street where [redacted] goes for her fitness walks. On this evening, I was going to observe [redacted] as she went on her fitness walk. I sat in the driveway of the local park for a while, and then I drove up and down the street, observing [redacted]. I did not see anything unusual going on. No one harassed [redacted], and no one came up to speak with her.
Around 6:00 or 6:15 P.M., I -spoke with  [redacted]. She was still walking. She mentioned that some of the cars that drove on the street while she was walking were "posse" cars. I asked her how she was able to make that determination, especially since it was dark outside. She said the street is normally quiet, with no traffic. If a car drove down the street at this time of the evening, it was because the driver was watching [redacted]. I spoke with [redacted] for several minutes. When she finished her walk, I left the area. On January 7, 2016, I arrived at [redacted]'s place of employment at 5:30 A.M. I observed that the same cars were parked across from her office, as had been there on previous mornings. Once again, I looked into the cars. No one was in the cars. I did not inform [redacted] I was going to be there on this morning. I wanted to see if anything was going on without input from [redacted]. I did not park in the same spot. Instead, I drove around to see if anyone was in a vehicle watching [redacted]'s building. No one was in a vehicle watching her building.
I remained in the area until 9:00 A.M. I did not observe any suspicious activity, nor did I see anyone watching [redacted]'s office. On January 7, 2016, at 4:30 P.M., I went to the street where [redacted] takes her fitness walks. I did not park in the local park, but instead I just drove around the neighborhood. At 5:40 P.M. I saw [redacted] walking. As I drove up and down the street, I did not see anything suspicious. I did not see anyone interact with [redacted].
On January 8, 2016 I had spine surgery. I remained in the hospital until January 11, 2016.
On January 19, 2016 I spoke with [redacted]. She called to give me an update and to inquire about my recovery. I again told her the recovery time was eight to twelve weeks. I had an appointment scheduled with my surgeon for February 22, 2016. Until that time, I was not able to drive. [redacted] was fine with that information.
From January 19 thru February 24, 2016 I kept in touch with [redacted] via text message. I spoke with her on February 24 and told her it would be a bit longer before I could drive long distances. Again, she said she understood, and provided updates as to what was going on with the "posse."
[redacted] told me she had 161 photos of posse vehicles. She had taken these photos with her cell phone while she was driving. She was supposed to email these photos to me. She never emailed the photos. She also told me of an interne game she played. The game is called Words with Friends. She felt at least one of the police officers, or posse, were leaving her ominous messages in the game. From my notes, [redacted] said one of the word connections was bleeding, blood, wood. Within a short period of time, perhaps the next day, [redacted] found a piece of wood that was on the sidewalk where she does her fitness walks. She felt the wood was intentionally placed there. I asked her how I could join the game and see what was going on in the game. She never gave me instructions on how to join the game.
She sent me photos of a man standing outside a [redacted] store. She felt the man was part of the "posse." I asked her why she felt that. She said he was dressed nicely, she had just been in the [redacted] store and he was not there when she went into the [redacted] store. He looked at her, and she felt that his standing there was suspicious.
I suggested that she might not have noticed him as he walked up to the store. She said that was a possibility, but she felt it was unlikely. She was certain he was "posse." Another incident [redacted] related tome was when she went into [redacted]. She said a posse member followed her into [redacted] with his daughter. The man and his daughter went to the [redacted] Vision Center. As [redacted] walked into [redacted] the man kept looking at her. I asked [redacted] if the man did an aping else, anything threatening. [redacted] said no. I hypothesized the man might have gracre-L attractive and was just looking at her for that reason. [redacted] seemed baffled at that suggestion. [redacted] also sent me photos of some of the "posse" vehicles, she had taken while driving.
In a previous conversation [redacted] told me she is an aggressive driver. She also said she gets on her cell phone as soon as she gets into her car. So, I proposed a scenario for her that might explain some of the things she was experiencing. She drives aggressively during rush hour, which would indicate she cuts off other, slower drivers. If she cannot get around other cars, she feels boxed in, and those cars then become "posse" cars. She is on her phone, driving aggressively, during rush hour. Other drivers get [redacted]et at aggressive drivers, who are on their cell phones. These other drivers frequently make gestures at the aggressive driver. I tried to explain to [redacted] that other drivers making gestures at her may have nothing to do with "posse." I also suggested that "posse" drivers might not be boxing her in, but her getting boxed in may just be the result of her inability to get around slower driers during rush hour.
[redacted] did not really want to consider any other explanation than she was being stalked by "posse."
On February 24, 2016, [redacted] said a woman followed her into the nail salon she frequents. [redacted] made it sound like the nail specialist could confirm this other woman came into the nail salon, and asked the nail specialist if [redacted] came into the salon. The third party allegedly asked for [redacted] by name.
I asked [redacted] for the name of the salon and her nail specialist, who was asked about [redacted]. I said I wanted to interview this woman. [redacted] was very non-committal about getting me this information. She said the woman was Korean-and might not want to-talk to me. [redacted] would ask the woman if I could speak with her, and then [redacted] was supposed to get back to me. She never got back to me. I cannot interview someone, if I do not know who to interview.
To my knowledge, other than the nail specialist, there are no other witnesses to interview on this case. The only other potential witness is [redacted]'s mother, who was with her on a trip to Columbus. From speaking with [redacted]'s mother, [redacted] convinced her mother "posse" vehicles were everywhere as she drove to Columbus.
During the course of my investigation, I have looked at photos sent to me by [redacted], and I viewed the area around [redacted]'s house myself. There are no cameras and no one is videoing her or photographing her.
I have asked for the dates of police reports [redacted] made to her local police department. [redacted] has not given me any dates. When 1 checked with her local police department, the records room could not find any police reports filed by [redacted].
To date, I have spent a minimum of 40 hours working on [redacted]'s case. This does not include the phone conversations I have had with [redacted]. I have driven 290 miles on this case. Finally, I have run license plate traces on 116 vehicles on this case. I successfully traced 94 plates. [redacted] paid me $3,500. Let me break down the expenses. My normal hourly rate is $75. $75 x 40 equals, $3,000. I have driven 290 miles working on this case. I charge .65 per mile. 290 miles x .65 mi. equals $188.50. Each successful license plate trace costs $8.50, and each unsuccessful license plate trace costs $5.50. So, 94 successful license plate traces x $8.50 equals $799. The 22 unsuccessful license plate traces at $5.50 per trace costs an additional $121. In total, the cost of license plate traces was $920 In total, I have put $4,108.50 worth of work, mileage, and license plate trace expenses into this case. I have earned the money she paid me, and she is not entitled to a refund.
Again, I find it plausible that someone did hit [redacted] with a pick-up truck on two occasions. However, I have seen no indication anyone is following [redacted] to her place of employment. 1 have seen no indication anyone is watching [redacted] while she works at her office. I have seen no indication anyone is following [redacted], or watching her while she takes her fitness walks. I have seen no indication anyone is making video recordings of [redacted]. Finally, I have seen no indication anyone is trying to harm [redacted]. This is not what [redacted] wants to hear. She wanted confirmation that she was, and is, being stalked, that her life is in danger, and that she is not just being paranoid. I could not provide confirmation that [redacted] is being stalked, nor could I provide any confirmation that her life and physical well-being are at risk. I could not provide that confirmation, because I have found no empirical evidence to support that conclusion.
This is not what [redacted] wanted to hear. When I first met with her, she was certain I would be able to verify her assertions that she is being stalked and harassed.
I have done everything [redacted] asked me to do. However, since I was unable to confirm her belief system, it is not surprising she feels I have slighted her, and not done the job she hired me to do.
In reality, in the real world, I have treated [redacted] in a courteous, professional manner. During the 40 years I have been in business, I have never been rude to any clients, and I was not rude to [redacted]. I always do an excellent job for my clients.
Unfortunately, I was not able to successfully complete the job for [redacted]. This job is not able to be completed. Even though I was able to disprove many of the claims [redacted] made prior to the onset of my investigation, she preferred to ignore the evidence, and just continue on with her belief system, and victimization mentality.
For example, [redacted] feels vehicles parked outside of her building are there to watch her while she is at work. That simply is not true. The vehicles parked outside of her building are there because the vehicle owners work in the same area as [redacted]. But, when told of this, [redacted] did not want to believe what I had observed. For some reason, [redacted] wants to continue believing she is being victimized while she is working.
I can only report, prove or disprove, what I have observed in the real world, not in a fantasy world. I do not create information, or sets of facts, just so that my client feels better. That would be unethical. As mentioned previously, that is where the real problem with [redacted] lies. [redacted] wants someone to substantiate her claims of a "posse" following her everywhere she goes. The facts do not substantiate those claims.
After she was struck by the pick-up truck, [redacted] became paranoid. She believes that hundreds of people are part of a conspiracy to force her to move out-of-town, or to physically injure her. There is simply no evidence to support this belief system, allegations, and victimization attitude. It is my belief, much of what [redacted] is experiencing is due to her own behavior patterns, especially when it comes to driving on interstates, and talking on her cell phone. But, unfortunately, that is not what she wants to hear.
Sincerely, Edward H[redacted], PhD. President, Hendricks Investigation Services, LLC.
