First of all I want to apologize for the poor experience that the customer had with Herc RentalsWhen a debit card is used the bank will put a hold on the amount trying to be charged to make sure the funds are availableThe reason it was holding $instead of $is due to the book rate versus the customers discounted rateA manager has to go into the system and approve any discounted rate and until that happens it shows the book rateAfter the customer told the counter employee what he needed and the rental contract was written, the customer decided to add our Rental Protection Plan and to do that the employee had to close the initial contract and reopen anotherThat is what caused the second hold of $on the debit cardMoving forward we will train our employees to do a better job of explaining how a debit card works in the rental industry Thomas H [redacted] Herc Rentals Branch Manager
