Hercules Moving and Storage Reviews (4)

Review: We had scheduled a move with Hercules moving a week in advance to move several small items on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 12:00pm. "[redacted]", the moving consultant called on Friday the 22nd to confirm the move and tried to move the time to 2:00pm. I explained that 2:00pm would not work and he stated that 12:00pm would not be an issue. We spent all morning on the 23rd getting ready for the move to be ready by the time the movers got there at noon. At 11:50am, I recieved a call from [redacted] stating that the movers would be 2-3 hours late because they were working on a larger move and had no control over it. I know things happen, but they should have known more than 10 minutes before their scheduled arrive time that they would be 2-3 hours late. At 2:00pm I called "[redacted]" to get a status update. There was no answer, so I left a message. At 2:45pm I called again to get a status update, again, no answer. At 3:15pm, I called and again, no answer. I called again at 3:20pm using a different cell phone. [redacted] picked up immediately asking if I needed a quote. I explained who I was and he pretended like he did not know who I was and why I was calling. I gave him my name and address and told him that I have been waiting on the moving company that was now over three hours late. He said that they were still working on the previous move and did not know when they would be finished. I told him at this point, to forget about it. He said thanks and hung up. I feel like this was terrible customer service and communication. We then had to turn around and rent a truck at the last minute to get these things moved. My wife was so upset that she called back and told "[redacted]" how unacceptable this was. She explained that she would be reporting this to the Revdex.com and be reviewing them on Yelp. "[redacted]" stated, "Oh no you wont [redacted]" and hung up. This is not acceptable for a company in which we found on the Revdex.com and trusted because of this.Desired Settlement: I honestly just dont want this to happen to other customers of this company. This ruined our entire weekend and caused even more expenses to move things at the last minute.

Review: On 10/21/2014 I contacted Hercules Moving and Storage about moving 2 bedrooms and a living room into a storage facility. I was quoted a price of $80 per hour for three men and a truck. No additional charges were mentioned. The home was already packed and all items that needed to be packaged were already wrapped. When the drivers arrived they immediately proceeded to pack items that they were told not to pack and insisted it was their company policy. They did this without seeking or acquiring any authorization from anyone. After the truck was loaded and arrived at the destination they handed my mother (Who does not speak great english) a bill. They told her they were charging her $1100.00 for the move and racked up $250 (approx.) in packing charges, a 12.5% fuel expense (which was not mentioned in the quote) and one of the drivers did not do ANY work. Instead, the two Spanish men unloaded the truck while he smoked and played on his cellphone. In addition, they charged me $95 per hour when their website and their representative on the phone stated that it would only be $80/hr. When my mother called me I arrived at the location and they refused to refund my money and they would not release my property unless I signed a contract agreeing to their terms. Since we were moving that day and had no alternative and needed our stuff, we had no choice but to sign. They had only half completed the unloading. They dumped the rest of the stuff off (and did not complete the job contractually required) and left. We took pictures of the stuff they left.

They overcharged on the packing materials repeatedly.

We have only 3 mattresses yet somehow they charged us for 4 covers.

They charged us for 9 rolls of tape. It was not evident that they used tape more than once to package two boxes.

They charged us for four pictures boxes. When I asked the foreman to show me the four boxes he could only point out two.Desired Settlement: I would like my money back. I would like to be charged the rate they quoted me on the phone and a reversal of the charges that they placed on us for packing. In addition, I would like atleast two hours of their labor refunded since they left at 1:00pm (and wrote, before finishing the job that they would leave at 3:30pm) and did not actually finish the job. My brother and I had to come to the location and spent the next two hours moving all the stuff into the storage properly.

Review: I was given an estimate for moving services that was quoted for $70 an hour and showing a minimum of 3 hours to be purchased. The quote gave an estimate of $210 for the entire move. When the movers arrived, the contract stated $80 an hour. I pulled up my estimate and they said "Sorry, it is $80 an hour". When the move was completed, I was charged for an hour of 'travel time' to and from the location. This was never in the estimate. If this was a known charge, I should have been quoted this. Additionally, I was charged for packing tape, bubble wrap, and other related moving supplies. I was never informed that I would be charged for these packing supplies. If I knew this, I would have bought these supplies myself or wrapped up my belongings myself. Further, the estimate I was given said that "packing material" was included in the hourly rate. Furthermore, many of the items were damaged in the move. When I brought this up at the end of the move, the movers shrugged and said there was nothing they could do about it. The couch cushions now need to be professionally cleaned and some furniture must be repainted because there packing tape tore off the paint finish. I was in an awkward position and had to pay the full price of the move, otherwise they would not of unloaded my belongings from their truck. If I refused to pay, they would have driven off with all of my belongings. I was stuck and had to pay over $640 for the move - which was more than 3X the estimate that was given to me.Desired Settlement: I request a refund of $250. This will cover the cost of getting the couch cushions professionally cleaned, having some furniture repainted, reimburse me for the $10 an hour EXTRA that was charged that was not in the original contract, as well as the extra hour of travel time that was charged to me that was not part of the contract.

Review: I have recently moved with Hercules Moving company out of DC. Our move date was June 29th 2013 from [redacted] Virginia to [redacted] Virginia. Below is a list of complaints regarding the company, movers and dispatch.Movers were scheduled to arrive at 9am, they did not arrive until 11:55. Dispatch blamed my husband and I for the delay stating that we should have told them we were on a military base so that they could have had their IDs. The fact that we were in a military base was on our estimate that was put together by [redacted]. Movers showed up with a small box truck to move a 4 bedroom home. They stated that they were told it was a 2 bedroom apartment. I was quoted for 5 hours at $480. The movers spent 4.5 hours playing tetris with the truck to get everything to fit.Movers worked slowly. There is still 2 desks, a deep freezer, dining room chairs, china hutch, outdoor stuff, bikes, and a garden bench still at the other house. We now have to rent a Uhaul on Wednesday in order to get our remaining furniture. Movers were told repeatedly not to get on I-95 because it was backed up due to construction. My husband asked them to follow him. They refused. My husband got to the house and the movers did not arrive for another 30 minutes. Once the movers arrived they asked us to pay before unloading. The price was much more than what we were quoted. There were charges on the receipt for bubble wrap which we did not use and tape that had been used for monotonous things when not needed. There was no tape charge on the estimate pulled up by [redacted]. My husband called dispatch to dispute the charges, time issues, slow workers and small truck that left furniture at the other home.Dispatch called the movers and told them to add an extra hour to our charges after he got off the phone with my husband.Movers took no care in the moving of furniture. My headboard for my bed was dropped on the concrete and then dragged up a concrete step leaving scuff marks. The movers dropped my dresser breaking the top of it. Dresser was up on one end and they let it fall to meet the ground evenly. One mover continuously jumped from the top landing on the stairs down to the bottom.Walls and banisters were scuffed up because they took no care in moving furniture.Basement door is severely scuffed up due to movers continuously trying to force a couch through the door when it clearly would not fit.Movers gave us a receipt for one amount and charged our credit card significantly more.We were told by [redacted], and it also states on the website, that military members get a 5% discount. The company refused to honor that discount.I was told I had to call Monday morning to get answers. I have called the following numbers:###-###-#######-###-#######-###-####I have emailed the following:[redacted]I have received no responses from any contacts. I have left messages on all phones. Every phone number refuses to answer or return calls as well as emails.Desired Settlement: Broken Dresserscuffed head boardseverely scuffed door frame due to forcing furniture that was too big through itReimbursement for all listed to either fix or replaceFurniture left at home that requires Uhaul and time off of work to move-reimbursement for charges acquired to do so.Credit card charged more than receipt-
