My Father in law passed away 11/11/This company misrepresented itself to his family as a company with an actual crematorium in Bay City MiMelanie an employee was rude, insensitive, demeaning and had no people skillsShe called several times telling us that forms were either not present, or not filled out correctlyWe thought he was picked up by the heritage company employees and to our surprise we received a phone call that they didn't know where the body wasI tracked the body down at a local funeral home blocks away from where he passed away after days of the family already grieving now not knowing where their loved one wasMelanie again called and wanted more paperworkshe was asked about this whole debacle and was again rude and nastyShe completely back tracked and said that the local funeral home was a contracted agent and they were to do the cremationThe family then changed their mind about using the Heritage company and fired them.I can't add more-------------
After getting a quote from Heritage, we saw the negative reviews online of the businessBecause of this, I questioned them very closely about any extra fees or hoops I'd have to jump through There WERE several extra fees on top of the price we were initially quoted; however, they told them all to me before we finalized the contract, and the final total was still less than the initial quotes we received from any other cremation placeThe only "surprise" fee was a specific fee having to do with the fact that my family member was a murder victim and there are specific procedures associated with picking the body up from the coroner All in all, my experience was positive, although I was very proactive with requesting info and confirmation at every stepThey are not the most quick to get back to you, but in the end I had all the info in hand that I needed to proceed with confidenceThe funeral home they selected was an hour's drive away, but that was not a big problem for us
I contacted this company prior to my husband's passing They assured me they were licensed to opetate in Minnesota and that they would handle all the details for me All I had to do was call then on an # They quoted me $for their service A few days later my son called just to verify what they had told me Everything seemed to be satisfactory My husband passed on Sept 8, I called the # and was advised I had to have the charge nurse at the hospital call them She did so immediately I did not hear from them on the 9th On the 10th I contacted them to find out what was happening and was told their facility was full and they could not take care of my husband's body unless they sent it to another facility which would now be $ I did not feel this was appropriate and on the 11th contacted another company to take care of the remains I feel if a company gives you a quote they need to stand by that quote even in the event something changes on their end
My brother passed away and we contacted Heritage to arrange for cremation Like so many others, we were quoted one price and the bill ended up being more Long story short, I should have read through the Revdex.com complaints before we decided to go with Heritage I can identify with all of these people Slow response, ashes one place, not wanting to transport remains back, etc Eventually they agreed to remove $from our bill but had also promised to get back to me to explain why things had gone the way they did They were to call me after they had reviewed their tapes from various calls made to themIt has been days since I spoke with them and I called today for answers Guess what....TAPING MACHINES WERE NOT WORKING...What a shocker! This did not come as a surprise to me While I don't want anything from the company, I just want to let those unsuspecting people that are considering using this service to think very carefully You will not want the unneeded stress
I'm writing this complaint in reference to the cremation arrangements for*** that I started making on the night of March 11th,2015.At that time I went to the Internet and looked up Affordable Cremation,Augusta Maine.I found Heritage Cremation Provider and chose them because their website stated they were a family owned business, compassionate, caring and close to home, and offered an affordable, simple and dignified burial.I then called HCP's toll free number, spoke to **,and was quoted a price of $895.00, and was told to call the next morning, and speak with***,to continue making cremation arrangementsUpon calling***, she quoted me,and *** ***, a quote of$1,280.00, when ** had just quoted us a price of $the night before.*** then relayed to us that HCP was a Corporate Entity, with locations in many different states, hence the different prices. At that time,we were told we were under no obligation to stay with HCP,but we decided to stay with HCP since we didn't want to start this difficult and emotional process over again from the beginningOver the next days we filled out paperwork twice,,and upon calling HCP, and talking to***, found out *** was still at the ME's office due to problems with his paperworkI again expressed my displeasure to*** with HCP, regarding all the paperwork they required, their differences in the prices that we were given,,and the lack of transparency I felt HCP portrayed on their website. At that time*** said we were still under no obligation to stay with HCP,and if we were not happy with them ,we were again free to go elsewhereWe were now days into this process, and elected to stay with HCP yet again, due to the fact we just wanted this emotional and very sad process to be over with.At that time, I asked*** if she would contact Corporate and let them know my concerns I had with themShe said she would send ** an email with my above concernsOn March 19th,*** left me a voice mail stating she and*** had contacted ** regarding whether there would be any reimbursement due to the difference in the quotes I was given, and it was relayed to me ** stated the invoice would stand as is,given HCP had bills and fees to pay! In my dealings over the years with reputable companies,I've never had a company tell me,because of bills they had to pay, they would not honor a misquoted invoice. When searching for Crematoriums in Augusta Maine, and upon finding HCP in Augusta Maine, I feel their website was not very transparent, as I found no where on their site that HCP was located anywhere but in Augusta MaineII also feel the length of time for the transportation of *** body to the Crematorium was prolonged due to the amount of paperwork required by HCP.I also feel with HCP,there are communication problems, due to the fact that they use to many people- in my case **,***,and*** to deal during the process of having *** body cremated. In conclusion, I feel loosing a loved one, is emotional and difficult enough, without having to go through the above problems I encountered with Heritage Cremation ProviderThank you for reading my ReviewSincerely,***
They were quick to take your money , but will not return any calls, seems they are always on the other linebe sure you get the name of the Funeral home they use, so you can track the location of loved ones,
My mother's body has been sitting uncremated for days with a cremation provider that Heritage contracted with the day she died because Heritage will not return their phone calls or provide needed paperworkI issued what I call 'strongly worded demands' the day after she died because they weren't returning my calls and told them I would write honest reviews about them on sites such as *** and the Revdex.com's siteSo here I am fulfilling what I promised to doStay away from Heritage; they are evil and heartlessThey have already been banned from selling their services in Florida and I've been told that they are being investigated by the State of Ohio, my home state
I called Heritage Cremation Provider at 4:30AMThe operator recorded my name, the name of the deceased, the location of my deceased father, my phone number, and my email addressI called back at 5:05AM for official confirmation and to pass on the time constraints set forth by the rest home where my father passed awayI did not talk with the male operator that I talked to during the first phone callAt that time I had not received an email confirmationI called again at 6:06AM, closing in on the transportation deadline and still no email confirmation, was told that the director would contact me with confirmationI then started to research this company and was not happy with my findingsI called again at 6:to cancel the order and the secretary hung up on meI then called a local mortuary to have them transport my fatherAt 7:39AM a subcontractor from Heritage Cremation Provider arrived at the same time of my second choice companyI had already told the rest home to turn away Heritage and allow my second choice provider to transport my fatherAt 7:51AM I received an email confirmation from HeritageI replied to the email that I would not be doing business with Heritage Cremation Provider now or in the futureWhen dealing with customers or businesses that advertise on the internet, email is extremely important in doing businessWritten or electronic confirmation is extremely important in reducing the tension in an already stressful situationI would suggest using only local companies for such a sensitive and delicate situation
Worst experience ever
I will make sure that I tell everyone and anyone NOT to use this company When you are dealing with the death of a loved one you do not need the added stress of a crematorium doing a horrific job handling your loved one I have been trying to get my loved one back for days now and have been unsuccessful The personel at the number tells you they will call back and do not They tell you they will get something taken care of and they do not They told me the would have my loved one's remains delivered to me and no one showed up! How disrespectful can you be!! I spoke with the owner and he promised that I would get a phone call in the morning I'm still waiting I am going to be contacting the hospice organization that provided care for my loved one and recommend that they never use these people and to tell all of their clients the same Their business licence should be pulled Disgusting
My aunt cared for me my entire life, so as her needs increased, I returned the love and brought her to my home when her time came, so she could be comforted by family. When she passed, her son sent some company that he had chosen on-line .."to keep the costs down.." The two, young guys backed into our drive..in a mini van and the driver started barking commands.and making rude comments. He accused us (very rudely) of calling before we were ready..and holding him up. Myself and my daughters had spent a very long and painful night, watching our loved one slowly pass away and were physically and emotionally..spent. When he started ranting, my lack of sleep and personal grief took over and I cut loose on him regarding his total disrespect. I was screaming at him so bad that my husband came out to investigate. When they drove off with my loved one, I struggled for weeks wondering how her body had been treated and if it had been taken to the proper place for cremation. Knowing the torment that I was going through, my daughter and her boyfriend, made the long drive to where her remains supposedly had been taken. I have still never felt the comfort of knowing that she was treated with respect and dignity and even worried that perhaps her body had never been delivered to the supposed location.
We were looking for a cremation provider, an online search pulled up "Heritage Cremation Provider". When my husband called, Heritage seemed to be a good company to work with, they had their headquarters in Seattle, and owned several Funeral homes in Yakima Valley where we live. We should have been alerted that something was fishy when the hospice nurse said she had never heard of them. The morning mom died we had our hospice nurse call Heritage and they said they would be there in less than an hour. Two hours later they had not called or arrived. Finally, after we called them again, they said they would check and call us back, with the news that a local provider would be there within a half hour. We signed the forms and emailed them to Heritage. We found out the provider that they used was not "owned by them" as they claimed. They did not call us regarding mom, we always had to call them. We left messages several times and they never called us back. We waited 8 days to find its a scam.
Working with this company was simply awful and made the situation of the loss of a loved one even more complicated.
Not one once of sympathy or respect for our time of grieving, they simply wanted their money and their paperwork asap. We were asked if we wanted to pick up the ashes, and then told they had to be mailed, so I know they lie to get money. They called us to complain about the paperwork 3 days in row, while we were caring for our dying friend and after she had passed. Very unhelpful, very awful. I will never use them again and I they should be investigated.
My Father in law passed away 11/11/16. This company misrepresented itself to his family as a company with an actual crematorium in Bay City Mi. Melanie an employee was rude, insensitive, demeaning and had no people skills. She called several times telling us that forms were either not present, or not filled out correctly. We thought he was picked up by the heritage company employees and to our surprise we received a phone call that they didn't know where the body was. I tracked the body down at a local funeral home 2 blocks away from where he passed away after 2 days of the family already grieving now not knowing where their loved one was. Melanie again called and wanted more paperwork. she was asked about this whole debacle and was again rude and nasty. She completely back tracked and said that the local funeral home was a contracted agent and they were to do the cremation. The family then changed their mind about using the Heritage company and fired them.I can't add more-------------
I contacted this company prior to my husband's passing. They assured me they were licensed to opetate in Minnesota and that they would handle all the details for me. All I had to do was call then on an 800 #. They quoted me $995 for their service. A few days later my son called just to verify what they had told me. Everything seemed to be satisfactory. My husband passed on Sept 8, 2015. I called the 800 # and was advised I had to have the charge nurse at the hospital call them. She did so immediately. I did not hear from them on the 9th. On the 10th I contacted them to find out what was happening and was told their facility was full and they could not take care of my husband's body unless they sent it to another facility which would now be $2195. I did not feel this was appropriate and on the 11th contacted another company to take care of the remains. I feel if a company gives you a quote they need to stand by that quote even in the event something changes on their end.
This "service" provides no information, charges more than promised on the website and took 3 weeks to deliver the cremated remains and death certificates that were actually ready 9 days prior to letting us know things had been taken care of. They did not return phone calls and the management blamed all problems on a single (now terminated) employee. DO NOT USE THEM!
BTW, they are not listed as this company. They are listed as many Heritage Cremation services all over the US, which are subsidiaries of this one firm.
My mother passed away after a long battle with cancer. She did not have prior arrangements. We had talked with Heritage Cremation Providers weeks before and the person that I spoke with provided a quote over the phone of 1295 and told me that I could pay half upfront and half 30 days after the service. Not only did they not honor the quote on the day that my mother died they weren't even the company that picked up my mother. Redflag?. When we called to confirm that we could pay half down and half 30 days later, we were given a significantly higher price and told that we would not receive my mothers remains until the balance was paid in full. The lady that I spoke with was extremely rude. We told her that we were not going to use their services, she threatened a storage fee of 475.00, though no papers were signed. They did not even have my mother. As far as I know they are not even licensed in Delaware. I will not be recommending them to anyone. Integrity matters.
My mother passed away unexpectedly while on a visit with my cousin in Upper State New York. I googled and found Heritage Cremation Services, contacted them and AJ the main funeral director was friendly and appropriate on the phone. I was quoted $1299 for my mother's cremation and everything seemed to be okay.
Two weeks later, my mother's body was still in the morgue and everyone at Heritage appeared to busy to help me - including A.J. The one exception to the incredibly unprofessional staff members was Tracy. This lady seemed to be a decent human being. Everyone else was fairly obnoxious. I was promised a call from a funeral director assigned to my case - I never got one, or even spoke to this supposed person. When my mother's body was finally picked up, she was immediately cremated and then sent in the mail to me. I called to get a status update, and I was offered a tracking number.
This was the worst experience of my life.
After getting a quote from Heritage, we saw the negative reviews online of the business. Because of this, I questioned them very closely about any extra fees or hoops I'd have to jump through.
There WERE several extra fees on top of the price we were initially quoted; however, they told them all to me before we finalized the contract, and the final total was still less than the initial quotes we received from any other cremation place. The only "surprise" fee was a specific fee having to do with the fact that my family member was a murder victim and there are specific procedures associated with picking the body up from the coroner.
All in all, my experience was positive, although I was very proactive with requesting info and confirmation at every step. They are not the most quick to get back to you, but in the end I had all the info in hand that I needed to proceed with confidence. The funeral home they selected was an hour's drive away, but that was not a big problem for us.
I called Heritage Cremation Providers on May 3, and heard from[redacted] on May 4. I received forms via e-mail, completed the forms, had signatures witnessed, and faxed the forms to Heritage. I called 30 minutes later, and was told that the forms had not been received, and that they had been having difficulties with their fax machine. So we photographed the pages, attached them to an e-mail, and re-sent the forms. (And that took a couple of tries, since the e-mail address on the forms is incorrect!) Late that afternoon, I called again, only to be told that they could not read the forms in the photos, and would we please try again.
They also gave erroneous information about how long the coroner would hold my brother's body before embalming it. About 4:20 pm on May 4, we finally told Heritage to take a hike. A local funeral home met with us about 30 minutes later.
DO NOT RELY ON HERITAGE CREMATION PROVIDER for cremation of a loved one.
This is a case of buyer beware. My step mother purchased a cremation of my father through Heritage Cremation Provider (HCP). He passed away in hospice care. This company contracts with local providers in your area. The cost was comparable to the local company and was not by any means cheaper. The fact that you deal with a different person from different states each time you call, made it difficult to commit to a service date. Based on our experience during a highly emotional time frame, I would highly recommend that everyone checks into their LOCAL and LICENSED cremation/funeral home business before using this company. We were unable to get the death certificate number for the funeral home in order to expedite the cremation by HCP. This was a sticky point in trying to schedule a cremation not to mention the service burial in a timely manner.
