Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: I paid the corrected bill in full to [redacted], so he and I have no more issues with each other. This was after I saw a lawyer who pointed out that it is deceptive for a business to accept a check that says "Paid in Full" when anything is outstanding, even to subcontractors. The company should be encouraged to provide transparency to customers because the initial bill I received from "[redacted]" was incorrect (he acknowledged that when he sent me a new one). All I wanted from "[redacted]" was an apology (I got one from [redacted]) and a corrected bill, since I didn't want to pursue it in small claims court. So I have no problem with [redacted]but I think this letter from Heritage Fireplace is not correct and they should apologize as well...not to me...I don't need it.... but to the community, by changing the way they bill. Technically they have no right to accept a check as payment in full when they know a subcontractor will be showing up a month later with another one. My lawyer's letter to them said as much. I think the Revdex.com should have Heritage Fireplace not hide behind "she was overwhelmed with her move" but rather admit that I was very exacting in my repeating to them over and over "am I paid in full? They reassured me the job was in under budget, which is why I did not think another bill was coming. Sorry, not some confused female new to the island. If they had been transparent in their billing this would not have reached the point where I had to go to a lawyer.
I think the correct resolution of this problem is for Heritage Fireplace to also acknowledge that the content of my lawyer's response to them was correct. I have preemptively removed negative ratings for them on Facebook, and paid their contractor in full, so at this point owe nothing....and I think it is Heritage Fireplace's turn to do something to show remorse.
Sincerely,[redacted]
