Heritage India Restaurant Reviews (1)

Review: On Saturday, July 27th I took my girlfriend out to brunch at the Heritage India Restaurant in downtown DC for her birthday. We had acquired a discount voucher through the "[redacted]" online discounts sponsored by [redacted]. I purchased this a couple months ago and you pay $17.00 but it provides you an opportunity to have ALL YOU CAN EAT AND UNLIMITED BLOODY MARYS OR SAMOSSAS, original price of $34.95 ($10 for the drinks)for 2 hours. There is a MANDATORY 20 percent gratuity applied, which then means you pay $20 for two, for which I submitted my VISA card, and signed for just 20 (which was only the gratuity) so nothing more was needed because of voucher. I CHECKED MY ACCOUNT ONLINE TODAY and they have USED MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION THE VERY 'NEXT' DAY and charged me an additional bogus $13.95!!!! For what? And who gave them permission to charge anything to my card other than what I signed for on Saturday. I SAW MANY BILLING ISSUES TAKE PLACE WHILE WE ATE!! I think this is a shaky establishment, and this should be against the law and probably is. I called and hung-up on them when they tried to say this was some kind of mistake to be corrected. NOOOO, WHY DID YOU HOLD ON TO MY INFORMATION???Desired Settlement: I would like the Bureau to look into their practices regarding billing and how this could be done, AND A REFUND!!

RE: ID 9642612

For the Kind Attention of [redacted].

On the outset, please let me apologize if it seems that I have taken longer than normal to respond.

1. Yes the [redacted] and any such vouchers do have a mandatory tipping system attached to them. And the tips are calculated on the total and not on the discounted amount.

2. Also as many voucher buyers are not always aware, the coupon does NOT include taxes---which have to be paid at the time of settling the invoice.

3. Once a check is settled on a particular day, no staff has the possibility to go back into any transaction and make adjustments or add tips or do any such thing. A day later.

4. I have gone through all credit card transactions for 7/28, wherein the customer is stating that he /she was charged on the 27th as well as the 28th. There is no record of any such transaction. A copy is attached for your records (but please do not use that for any other purpose as this information is private and confidential).

5. To better resolve this matter, may be the guest in question can show us the exact withdrawals from his/ her account and if this is the case the necessary refund will be given.

6. I would like to add here, that is not our practice to try and cheat customers for a few dollars. We are here to stay in business and follow procedures. If a staff member has stepped out of line, he or she will face the consequences. But I have to have proper documentation to be able to that.

7. 6.99$ are the taxes and $ 13.98 are the tips, bringing the total to $20.97. If it is a Debit Card the two transactions will show separately.

8. I look forward to receiving a copy of the clients statement that shows that there has in fact been a double transaction.

Thanking you Sincerely

Consumer

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: The meals themselves were FREE with vouchers, per the small print, the ONLY thing I was charged for is gratuity and taxes totalling $20. Addtionally, dated the NEXT day, there was a bogus charge of $13.98 for which I did no signing NOR was given notice of day of the brunch.

My bank statement shows BOTH were paid. I "only" signed for the $20 (tax/gratuity), they had NO PERMISSION to charge anything additional.

They agreed to return the amount (I don't care how small, I work for it), if I would alert you that it was settled.

IT WAS NOT!
