Review: I am filing this online complaint on behalf of my 88 year old mother. She had Hersh Exterminating Service come to her house in early August to eliminate a bug problem that was in the basement, as well as the upstairs. My daughter and son-in-law live at the house while my Mom resides with me. None of us knew what these tiny biting bugs were. When I called Hersh, I was told that it would be helpful if my daughter could collect one of the bugs in a zip lock bag so that the tech could identify it. She did just that. When the tech, [redacted]showed up he identified the bug as fleas before he began treating the house. The paperwork he brought with him stated, "Seeing lots of bugs especially in basement. Spiders etc..Contract. Initial ASPP Collect 417.15." When I made my initial phone call to Hersh, I never said spiders were the problem. They might be present, but they are not the problem. The tech began treating the outside first, and when he came back in the house, he let my daughter know that fleas were not covered under their contract. Why wasn't she told this before he started?! He identified the bug before he started treating any surfaces. We paid the full amount charged for a treatment that wasn't for fleas! Fleas are a separate charge of $235(I believe is what I was quoted)when I called back asking for a refund. Only to find out there are no refunds. We are completely dissatisfied because the treatment used was not effective. Fleas were still rampant at the house. My daughter finally got it under control on her own. My Mom was charged for the service of Preventative Residential. This is where they come to house 3 times/year. Once you are entered into this contract it renews. YOU have to contact THEM to stop the renewal. We knew none of this going into it. Another big problem I had was with the tech. When Mom and I arrived with the check, he was standing in livingroom chatting up my daughter. He had the nerve to say I could cut the check and be on my way. Needless to say I wasnt leaving.Desired Settlement: We would like a full refund in the amount of $417.15. This is for 3 treatments. The tech is supposed to come back in December and then again in the spring. We do not want him back, plus the treatment was completely ineffective. I know when I called asking for a refund, I was also told although there are no refunds given, I had two options. The first being, we should have the tech come back two more times since the service is already paid for, or opt to not have him back and lose the money spent.

Granddaughter called in saying seeing lots of bugs in home especially in basement. Explained $195 + tax just for spiders as spiders was the only bug she could identify. Explained ASPP and what it covered. She chose this program she signed contract. We treated on August 12th. On Sept 24 she called saying she wanted to skip service and get refund that she didn't need the service anymore explained again that it was a one year contract. I went over again how it worked what all it covered and customer seemed happy when 1 hung up. She did mention that the tech found a rabbit nest under deck and said they could of gotten fleas from that. Offered flea treatment at % off. They declined and said weren't having problems any longer. Explained extra services were included.
