The following is a response to a complaint filed by [redacted] The customer signed a contract with Heston Farm on January 21, 2017 to hold an event in the [redacted] Lounge on May 5, 2017. The same contract committed her to purchasing catering....

At that time she paid the full rental fee for the facility for $159. Heston Farm sold it's [redacted] Restaurant to the [redacted]r, Doing Business As [redacted] LLC, which started operating the restaurant on March 1, 2017, with a plan to open in early May. The agreement was that [redacted] LLC would honor all existing contracts. The owner of [redacted] LLC, called the manager of Heston Farm to see if he could ask the customer to move her event to the Pavilion. Heston Farm said yes, because the Pavilion is typically a more preferred spot, and rents for $800 on a Friday evening. Heston Farm thought that this would be a good deal for the customer. Heston Farm told [redacted] that the customer needed to be provided options. [redacted] indicated that the customer agreed to the change and she proceeded with planning the event with the event coordinator for Heston Farm. As far as Heston Farm and Hunter Tech knew, the customer had approved of the change. She and her husband had looked at the pavilion and, while concerned about possible rain, she continued to plan the event. On April 18th, the customer finalized the catering options she wanted with event coordinator via email and then paid a $1000 to Heston Farm for catering on April 21st, which was to be provided through [redacted]. On the day of May 5th, unfortunately it rained during the customer's event at the Pavilion. Many events have been held at the Heston Farm pavilions over the years from April to October. The rain has not been an issue for renters because we have 3000 square feet under covered roof, and fireplaces and propane space heaters if needed for colder weather. The management at Heston Farm was made aware the evening of May 5th by the [redacted] Jar that the customer was angry about the rain and the facility change. He offered to give them $200 off of the final bill which they accepted. That amount represented his total profit for the event. Of the $2043.19 that the customer is asking to be refunded, Heston Farm only received the $159 rental fee. The rest of the fee went to [redacted] to cover the catering costs for 65 people and any of the alcohol that was purchased and consumed. If the customer had paid their full cost for their event, the it would have cost them $2875.19. The day of the event, the customer had no complaints about the food or service provided at the event. The owner of Heston Farm and her daughter called the customer separately to apologize for what had happened, and they both offered to refund her rental fee of $159 or to provide her with a free rental at the pavilion on any available Sunday during the summer. The customer said that she wanted the entire amount returned to her, which we refused to do because she had accepted and paid for everything we had offered.
