Review: During my sophomore year of college I had all of the work on my car done by HGS Auto. My most recent job done by HGS Auto was a simple oil change on May 23rd, 2013. I got home ([redacted], Ma) from school around June 1, 2013 and began working at my summer job at [redacted] Restaurant (no more than 5 miles from my local home) immediately. On my way home from work on July 11, 2013 around 2pm I had just gotten off the highway when my car stalled as I was driving. To stay safe I coasted to the side of the road and threw my shift in park. I tried to start my car after a couple minutes and the engine wouldn't turn on. The inside lights and radio were working but the engine wasn't turning on. I called [redacted] and requested a tow. When the driver arrived he took a look under the hood and informed me my oil filter fell off and to have it further looked at by a mechanic. I had my car towed to my home and when my brother, who is a mechanic, got out of work he took a look at it. He told me my oil filter was gone and he'd have to put oil into the car and another oil filter to make sure the engine is not seized. Days later he informed me that my engine is in fact seized and to contact the shop who last changed my oil. I contacted [redacted] from HGS Auto and informed him of what had happened and he sounded more than willing to contact the oil filter company and tell them their filter was defective. My brother told me to have my car towed to a shop and have them do another oil change attempt and write up an estimate to send over to HGS because an oil filter would only fall off if the installer made an error. So that's what I did. When I told [redacted] this he became uncooperative and unwilling to work with me. He does not believe he is responsible. I've been calling and calling [redacted] for almost two months now and he is not taking responsibility. I am 4 1/2 mnths pregnant and [redacted] is very aware. I have missed maternity appointments due to lack of transportation, I've had to quit my job, my car insurance got cancelled and much more.Desired Settlement: I demand he pay for a new car for me, for my cancelled insurance policy, for a new insurance policy, for the oil change/estimate I had sent over to him, for the oil change I paid him for in May, for the money I lost from quitting my job due to lack of transportation, and for personal damages.

Dear Revdex.com Representative,

in regards to the complaint Filed by [redacted] we are aware that she has had car problems. After reading her complaint there are few things that we would agree with her such as her contacting us and Setting us know about the problem. Aside from that there are many items in her complaint that we do not agree with her and are false

1. [redacted] mentioned that we have been unresponsive, that is false. We have called and emailed [redacted] several times about the issue and have been unsuccessful in trying to reach her. We have talked to [redacted] a few times which was at the start of the issue, when her car broke. She called and explained the issue. After talking to her we informed her that we cannot do anything because this was due to no fault of ours but we can call our parts provider and see what they can do. After talking to our parts provider (NAPA) they toid us to teli the customer to call them, so we gave [redacted] the phone number for NAPA. There [redacted] spoke to [redacted] (Store Manager) and he informed her that in order for Napa to reimburse her for any damages that have occurred due to the oil filter falling off she needs to have the filter on hand.

Also, if you would like to speak with [redacted] from NAPA about information pertaining to this, his number is listed below.

2. She mentioned that the filter fell because it was due to an error made by the mechanic or it was put on wrong. We don’t think that is the issue because if we had installed the filter wrong or the filter was not tight enough, when the car left the shop the filter would have fallen off within a coupie of miies due to the amount of oil pressure that the vehicle sustains while running. The fact is that she drove over 500 miles there was not a problem and then all of a sudden filter falls.

So, we feel we are not liable for any of the damages or monetary stress this caused [redacted]. We have done everything in our power to help her with this issue.

if you have any questions please feel free to contact us by calling or emailing.
