Initial Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2016/08/15) */
***
Response to case * ***
A site inspection was performed and at this time it was determined that the humidity level in *** basement ,where the laminate was installed, was extremely high causing the
laminate flooring to expand to the point where it became pinned against the wall and forced apart. At this time *** was informed to get a dehumidifier ASAP and place it in the basement to lower the humidy level
I then proceeded to send our Flooring Technician to her home, take the laminate apart, trim of the excess, replace any damage boards and reinstall the laminate
Even though Laminate problems caused by excess humidity IS NOT part of any warranty offered by manufacturers or us,out of good customer service practice,we as a company feel it is important we do what even we can to ensure a positive outcome
Going forward, it is very important that *** follow my instruction and keep a dehumidifier in her basement to prevent this from happening.PREVENTION IS THE KEY TO THIS PROBLEM

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 11, 2016/08/16) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Firstly, it was unacceptable to not even acknowledge our complaint for two monthsSecondly *** Anyone else from his company never, ever told us it was a requirement to have a dehumidifier in the basement after installing laminate floorWe have resided in this house for years and have never had a problem with humidityThirdly, it was the technician who informed us that we should get a dehumidifierFourthly, there is a vent in our laundry room which was covered over and seemed to be pushing air out under the laminate floorThis has now been rectifiedHaving said all this the problems now appear to have been resolved at least for the time being
