Review: My husband and I located HIC Financial on the internet. The company criteria met our requirements for purchasing a business. We contacted [redacted], CEO of the company and set up a meeting with him for May *, 2013. [redacted] required a $2500.00 fee for his services. We gave him a check in the amount of $2500.00. The services were to include locating an existing liquor store as well as providing funding. He stated that we would be business owners within 60 days. [redacted] stated that my husband and I were pre-approved for funding and that the money was not an issue. [redacted] met with us at a [redacted]l on Reisterstown Road, Baltimore, Maryland and stated that his company is located on Wall Street in New York and he was in the process of opening up another company in Maryland. When we asked for him to provide us with a company address in Maryland he failed to do so, stating that he did not have an office location in Maryland yet and he was back and forth on a weekly basis from New York to Maryland. After a few meetings with [redacted] he was no longer reachable via phone, text or email. He changed his phone number several times without notification. After numerous attempts [redacted] finally responded via telephone and provided us with his company phone number as well as a company address in Maryland. My husband and I located numerous existing liquor stores and each time we presented them to [redacted] he would find something wrong with them. This as well as him being unreachable and him changing his business number several times without notification prompt my husband and I to do more research on HIC Financial. At this point we found out by calling Wall Street that HIC Financial has not been on Wall Street since January 2013 however at our initial meeting [redacted] stated that the company was located in New York on Wall Street. We then set up an appointment to meet with [redacted] and unbeknownst to him my husband and I heard him speaking negatively about us to his employees. Each time we confronted him he would tell us that it is not like that and he is with us to the end, no matter what happens we will be business owners and he guarantees that. More time went by and once again [redacted] was unreachable. After several attempts we were finally able to get ahold of [redacted] and at this point we demanded a meeting with him. We went to his Maryland office to meet with him and we called the receptionist to be buzzed in. The receptionist informed us that [redacted] was in a meeting and we informed her that my husband and I have a scheduled meeting with him. The receptionist told us to come up to the office. We informed her that she would need to buzz us in, at which time she said, "you do not need to be buzzed in just come up to the 23rd floor". My husband and I informed here that the building does not have 23 floors. The receptionist told us that the [redacted] building does have 23 floors. We told her that we were at the office on [redacted]. that [redacted] provided us with and we met with him previously at this office location. She informed us that she knew nothing about that office and that they have been at the [redacted] building for several months. We then asked her for the address. We drove to that office located at [redacted] and met with [redacted]. We informed [redacted] that we would like our money back and he asked on what grounds. That is when we informed him of all the deceitful things that he has done to us. He failed to give us our money back. We even sent a certified demand letter to his office on [redacted]. We also hand delivered a copy of the demand letter that his receptionist took and hand delivered to [redacted]. The receptionist also wrote a note stating that she took the letter for [redacted]. The certified letter came back with notification that it was undeliverable due to [redacted] not being at that location.Desired Settlement: To be refunded the entire amount of $2500.00 due to us paying for a service that was not rendered and being deceived from day one.
