[redacted] has agreed to replace my TV I received notification from [redacted] that the unit was deemed not repairable

We are HiDefinition Electronics and we do warranty repairs on *** televisions in the *** metro area. We went to *** ***' home on 9/2/in response to a warranty repair request from the *** company. The service complaint was that the television shuts down after a
few minutes of operation. While our tech could not confirm this to be the case, he replaced the main(mother) board anyway. On 12/7/2016, our tech was sent out to the ***' home once again for the same service issue. Again not seeing any failure, our tech reached out to the *** company technician support department. He described to that engineer the issue that Mr*** was having. Specifically, when the video is played from a *** stick, there is tv shutdown after to minutes of run time. Otherwise, the television will play without failure when used with e.gcable, satellite, antenna, etc. The *** engineer explained to our tech that during any movie, there are pulse-type signals that are encoded into the video to establish the legitimacy of the recording, hence, a deterrent to pirating of videos and depriving actors/actresses of their just royalties. Televisions are designed to look for these pulses and when they do not appear, the television will turn off or change the input source. Therefore, the *** engineer determined the television to be working properly and told our tech that no further repair action would be authorized under warranty for this issue. Our office has explained this to Mr*** on numerous occasions, however, he fails to accept the decision by the *** company. The fault does not lie with the television. If Mr*** wishes to watch movies in their entirety, he should consider purchasing them through creditable vendors

[redacted] has agreed to replace my TV.  I received notification from [redacted] that the unit was deemed not repairable.

Again, the decision has been made by [redacted] technical support ([redacted] engineers) that the customer is using pirated/bootlegged video and that is the root cause of this situation.  [redacted] technical support has told us not to repair this issue any further.  Mr. [redacted] needs to take up his complaint with [redacted], not us who only work at the direction of the warranting company.  Our attorney has reminded us that the use or possibly even the possession of bootlegged video is adverse to the U.S. code and is highly punishable.  It possible that if we continue to address this issue, we may become in violation of Federal laws.
