I met with Mr. [redacted] to side his house and shed. I gave him a time frame and a price. We setup a date for me to bring my crew to do the job. The job was pushed back 2 times due to material hold ups. No issue, I rearranged my schedule. I came out with my crew and sided his house. Before I left i...

spoke with him and his wife about the siding and asked if they had any questions or concerns before I was paid for the house portion. They had no issues and wrote me a check for approximately 60% of the job total. I told them I would be back in a week to finish the rest. In that time I never heard from them about any concerns with the siding on the house. I came back a week later to finish the job and side the shed. The shed was homeowner built, no fascia, no eaves to cover walls, no stud layout, no double studded corners, no king studs or trimmers for the door opening. I expressed my opinions and concerns with Mr. [redacted] about how the shed wont be protected from water draining into his shed without the proper framing. He disregarded this and said he would deal with it down the road himself. I finished his job completely. Once again I asked if there were any questions or concerns before I clean up and request payment. Again there were none. They wrote me a check for the remaining balance owed. 2 weeks later I recieve a call saying they have some concerns with nail heads and caulking and 2 cracks. I setup a time with them and said I would address the issues. Me and 1 employee went to their house, and addressed any and all concerns with Mrs. [redacted]. We walked the house and I recaulked any divots in the caulk that had shrank. She also stated her biggest concern was the siding itself. She didint realize it would show nail heads. I explained the siding they picked out and purchased was not a hidden system. The only way to not have nails in the field and edges was to go with a board and batten siding, they were against the look of board and batts. I also explained that I had no involvement in the picking and purchasing of the siding and that I only put up the product they instructed me to. A week later Mr. [redacted] emails me a list of things he is unhappy about, including caulking, and a hole cut for their light. The hole was a 1/2" bigger than the light pad for the front door. I apologized and offered to have them pick out a new porch light and I would pay for one with a bigger pad. They said dont worry about it, than instead they would like a refund of $250. I decided against this. I dont believe they were unhappy with the job itself, I believe they were unhappy with the end price that we had originally agreed to. Over a month before we started the job, they had every opportunity to decline the price and find someone cheaper. For the week in between the house and the shed being finished, I gave them every opportunity to ask questions and voice any concerns they might have. They had none and paid me 2 separate times. I dont feel this is a job gone wrong more than a customer who is having buyers remorse on a price they agreed to.

I do not agree with Mr. [redacted]. The fact that he is stating who he bought the product from and how he is related has no bearing on the installation of the product itself. He purchased the product, he did not like the look of the product once it was done because of the nail heads in the field. His wife also stated numerous times that she she assumed the finished product would look like sheetrock when it is finished. She also stated her son did sheetrock and when they were done nails would not show. I explained to her each time that that is not a possible comparison do to the way the sheetrock is mudded sanded multiple times for a smooth look. Siding is textured. When I showed up the first day there was no caulk on site. It had been paid for but they forgot to put it on delivery. I offered to head down to Home Depot and pick up the caulk that had already been purchased. I did not pick out the caulk myself. I picked it up off of the pallet that had his name on it. It was sitting there with multiple other items not related to siding that he had purchased and I offered to grab as well.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: The product was picked out by Mr. M[redacted]'s father at Home Depot. When product was delivered, the chalking was not. Mr. M[redacted] was kind enough to go to Home Depot and picked up the chalking, he stated that he picked the product from the shelf. He also stated if we used a better chalking that the nail holes would be less noticeable. Yes, there was a week between the house and shed being completed. When the house was completed I has to leave before he completed the job and he asked for payment. I thought touch up work would be completed. When the shed was completed we did pay and we had to leave as soon as it was done for a prior commitment. A week did pass before we started to paint, due to both of use working full time. Once we noticed issues we contacted Mr. M[redacted]. He did come over. I was extremely frustrated with the whole process. In the beginning we stated we did not know anything about siding. I am not going to dispute all the "little" issues, it is not about the price we paid in full. It is about the  nails that bent and were pounding into the siding and the hammer marks on the trim. Once [redacted] and Mr. M[redacted] agreed on the $250.00 refund he never stated anything after that. If he had not agreed to the $250 we would have had him drive over and install the new light as well as continue to fix the areas that needed attention.

We do not wish to pursue a we said vs he said discussion. We would like some resolution with the bent and pounded in nail heads in the siding and trim and the hammer marks. We thought the $250 refund was for the outside light and the bent nail heads. This was a gentleman agreement between us. we attempted to contact Mr. M[redacted] several times after the agreed upon pay date to see about the payment and invoice. We would appreciate an invoice for the work that was completed. We can supply pictures upon request.
Thank you
Sincerely,[redacted]
