High Country Honda Reviews (2)

I went to Phil Long Honda in Glenwood Springs, CO regarding a used vehicle they had available I was informed it was actually at their store in Colorado Springs but they could bring it up for me to look at the next day Before they offered to do this, the sales person, Heather N***, checked my credit rating and gave me a price with interest rate She asked me for a thousand dollars as a down payment on the vehicle and I gave her a credit car She said she would call me when the car was in Glenwood Springs the next dayThat evening I found another vehicle at *** *** *** ***, spoke to the salesman the next morning who also checked my credit rating, then I drove the vehicle and decided to purchase it After I agreed to buy it, this dealership asked me to fill out an application for financing and sent out a financing request on my behalf They sent out one request and it immediately came back with an offer, which I acceptedI needed to get my 1K dollars back from Phil Long Honda, and I went directly to their showroom but was told I had to speak with the manager, not the financial guy who took my money The manager, Perez, began bullying me, asking why I chose to get this other vehicle before I even looked at his He asked me what I bought, then proceeded to tell me what was wrong with it and continued with how inconsiderate I was not to even look at the car he took the trouble to bring up from Colorado Springs for me After a minute or so of this harassment, he said he would return my money after I looked at the car Of course, I was offended and angry to be treated this way and wanted to tell him to stick his car and just give my money back, but felt threatened that he wouldn't "be able" to give my money back immediately and hold it for a couple days if I didn't do what he asked So, like a sheep, I walked out and looked at the vehicle across the lot and returned He didn't ask me if I liked the car better or if he could make a better deal than the other guysIn fact, he didn't even ask if I looked at it I could have gone to the toilet instead, which would have been the better idea Without another word to me, he had an employee put the 1K dollars back on my card immediately I went back to the other dealership and bought that vehicleEven now, two and a half months later, I feel bullied and offended by this man Perez, but this is not the reason I’m writing In the following month after dealing with him, I’ve received eight letters of refusal from financial agencies across Colorado and other states This onslaught of requests sent out by this Phil Long's manager seems incredibly excessively and unnecessary and has affected my credit greatly Is this what he wanted to do to punish me for not buying his vehicle?
My credit rating was not perfect to begin with but was good enough for this dealership and *** *** dealership to offer me a vehicle--but now, some of the later letters say too many inquiries have become derogatory and lowered my credit I have also recently received a letter from a revolving credit card that has cancelled my card due to too many request and denials Each one of the institution he sent requests to have denied me financing--but he was at one time willing to sell me a vehicleI understand these dealerships have a lot of unwarranted leeway with people’s credit, and there is the “assumption” that as one of those people I had somehow “consented” to do business with Phil Long Honda the minute I walked in the door and asked about a vehicle and so he has a legal right to inquire evidently not only into my credit rating -but to arbitrarily send out as many requests as he sees fit to lenders of his choosing But, there has to be some protection against a manager or salesperson that has demonstrated he feels it's appropriate to bully and shame me in front of a full dealership about not buying his car and then send out eight financial requests that were denied, when I had just been approved that same day by another dealership's lender--who only sent out one request And he was must have somehow known I could qualify for his vehicle if he took the time and money to bring it up from Colorado Springs Even if he wasn’t angry with me, why would any dealership shotgun financial requests like that under any circumstances? They know what it does to someone’s credit I really have no idea, and can only speculate if there is also some leeway these dealerships have in what information they send to lenders; how they may be able to manipulate WHEN they send them out; and are they targeting certain lenders they know will deny someone with a certain credit rating who is asking for a certain amount of credit? Could he have “played” with these requests in some way?
This needs to be out there to warn others who do business and anger Perez at the dealership
