Review: In early December, I sought care at High Field Care for a lump on my neck. The physician who examined me agreed that there was a mass that should be tested further. He performed a strep test but advised that, to be safe, I should have additional testing. I explained that I was out of work and had no health insurance, but that I had a pending public health care assistance application. He mentioned that it may take a while for the application to go through and that even then, it would probably cover little testing. I asked how much it would cost out of pocket to get the appropriate diagnostic testing. He quoted a price of about $2,000 or $3,000. I told him that was completely out of the question for me at the moment and asked if there were any available tests that could give some indication of what the mass may be, but that would be priced lower. He mentioned some MRI imaging test that could be done "for $300 or $400" and that I was lucky because it could be done on site. I had a witness in the room with me who can confirm this statement. I opted to do this test and paid $100 toward it during the visit. When the bill arrived a couple weeks later, I had been charged $1,208 for this test alone. I immediately disputed the charge, but was met with a phone call from the billing department indicating that I needed to contact a different department. I was given a phone number but did not want to continue this exchange without a record given the apparent inadequacies of our previous verbal communications. As such, I have sent regular emails through the the company's website requesting the emails of the appropriate contacts for billing disputes. Instead, I continue to get billed at the $1,208 amount (I have paid $310 to date because I do not dispute the bill altogether) and have received one phone call, which I did not return because of the desire I have expressed several times for a record of any conversation with this company. This has been going on for two months now and I am eager for a resolution.Desired Settlement: My desired resolution is to have the $310 that I have paid toward this bill honored as full payment; however, I will accept a final bill of $400 and pay the remaining $90.
