High Point Laundry & Cleaners

The business damaged my clothing and the owner has dodged my correspondence. On 06/22/2013 I dropped off a [redacted] polo shirt to be cleaned at High Point Laundry and Cleaners. I returned approximately 3 days later and was advised that the shirt was damaged. The shirt was shown to me and it had obvious white spots across the front of the shirt (bleach-like stains). I was advised that the clothes are not cleaned on site and the shirt would be returned to the cleaning facility. I verified my phone number at that time in order to insure that they would have no problem contacting me. I had not received any correspondence by 07/02/2013 so I contacted the business and was advised to contact [redacted] at [redacted]. I was advised that [redacted] is the owner of the business. I called the number immediately and was advised by an employee who answered the phone that [redacted] was not available. The employee then stated that she could assist me and I told her who I was and what I was calling about. She put me on hold and then advised that she spoke with [redacted] was there, but was unable to speak on the phone) and was advised that they would replace the shirt by the weekend by going to the store and buying me a new one of the same size, brand, and color. I advised the employee that I would be going out of town for a few weeks and I would contact them immediately upon my return. I also advised that if they had any problems to call me immediately on my cell phone. I received no correspondence after this so I assumed my shirt would be waiting for me when I returned. I contacted High Point yesterday, 07/15/2013, immediately upon my return to Memphis. I was advised that there was not a shirt there for me and was then advised to contact [redacted] at [redacted]. I called the number and was advised that [redacted] was not in until the morning. Today, 07/16/2013, I called the number given to me and a woman answered. I asked for [redacted] and the woman advised me she was not available. The woman then asked what I needed and I advised her of the situation. The woman then said, "Oh yes, I can't find that color at the store." I was somewhat surprised to hear this. She then advised me that she needed to talk to "her husband". I finally just said, "So this is [redacted]?" and she said, "Um, yeah." I advised her that I did not appreciate being pushed off and ignored. She then asked how many times the shirt had been wore and I responded, "Once." She then said, "No No No." I advised her that if she cannot replace the shirt with the same thing then I expect that she reimburse me for the cost of the shirt. She advised that she will call me later. As the consumer, I do not appreciate being lied to. I understand that certain steps must be taken to replace damaged clothes, but I highly doubt lying to the customer and dodging their calls are some of those steps. The shirt costs $70.00 to be replaced and I took that shirt, after one use, to be cleaned and returned in the condition that it was dropped off in. I pay to have my nicer clothes cleaned because I want the piece of mind that it will be done right while also knowing that if it is ruined it will be replaced. I would also expect a minimal amount of professionalism from the business owner as well.Desired SettlementI need to be reimbursed $70.00 which is the cost of the shirt (tax not included). Because the owner cannot find the exact color I will take the $70.00 and pick out the appropriate replacement color. To simplify things, I will cover the cost of tax. I expect that this should be done in an appropriate amount of time.
