Unauthorized RepairRepair Order Number XXXXXXXDate 9/9/2014- Took my car in for an oil leak repair.- Was contacted and informed that water pump needed to be replaced.- Indicated to the company contact person that the water pump and timing belt had been replaced fairly recently.- Authorized water pump replacement.- Picked up the car and was informed that the timing belt had also been replaced.- Contacted the owner via letter explaining that the timing kit had been replaced unnecessarily and without authorization. Included a receipt of the work that showed when the timing kit was replaced. Requested a refund for timing kit part.- Received no response after 2 weeks.Desired Settlement$133.74 Timing Kit (1 TCK312)Business Response /[redacted]/Dear Ms. [redacted],In regards to the letter I received concerning the repair work that was done to your 05 Honda Civic on 9/9/2014, let me apologize for the delay in responding. I have been in and out of the office for the past month. I have reviewed the repair order and have come to the conclusion that as a Certified Repair Shop Owner, the disservice would have been to "NOT" replace that componant while the vehicle was torn down. The bearing that comes with that kit was an absolute must. I am aware that you advised our service writer that the belt had been previously replaced approximatley 3 years before this repair. But it is standard policy to replace these parts as there is no additional labor and they must be removed to gain access to the water pump. My technician provided you with the parts so that you could see that they needed replacing.I have been in business for 23 years and do not want dissatisfied customers. Please accept a shop credit in the amount of $100.00 to apply towards any repair that you may need.
