I'd like to offer Ms. [redacted] our utmost respect and consideration regarding her recent negative reviewfor services provided by Higher Power Electric. Saturdayappointment to resolve an electrical issue. I shared our service rates including a $59 trip fee plus anyrepair/diagnostic charges during our phone conversation. Since repair needs were undetermined, ourdiagnostic fee would be assessed ranging from $98-$189. She agreed to the rates and made theappointment.Please note that Higher Power Electric's webpage offers tips on how some electrical issues may beresolved prior to making an appointment for assistance. Ms. [redacted] shared that she visited our webpagebut may not have looked for those tips to assist with determining power issues at her home.I arrived to her home and introduced myself as the owner of the company. I asked Ms. [redacted] to reviewseveral electrical issues she was experiencing. Ms. [redacted] shared questions regarding surge protectioncurrently installed and what may cause receptacles from working after a recent surge. I explained howsurge protection works and suggested looking at her existing surge protection installation. During theinitial 15-20 minutes of review, Ms. [redacted] had several interruptions from a neighbor & a cell phone callthat she needed to attend to. During that time, I was permitted to examine the main surge device &electric panel in the basement. I checked the electric panel, inspected the wiring and whole house surgeprotector installation during this time. All was in good working condition. When Ms. [redacted] finished hercall, she returned to the basement so I could share what I discovered that her surge unit and electricpanel appeared to be in good working condition.After her questions were answered, we went upstairs to look for power issues with receptacles in thefamily room. I noticed several extension cords powering (2) surge strips for a computer, printer, cablebox, Wi-Fi router, and a floor lamp. The receptacle behind the computer desk wasn't working. Using aplug-in tester, I checked other receptacle not working in the same room. I discovered, hidden behind apiece of furniture, was a tripped GFCl receptacle. I reset the GFCI receptacle, power returned, and thenchecked the other receptacles for power. They now were working and indicated power with my tester.After restoring receptacle power, Ms. [redacted] asked about a new surge strip she recently purchased toreplace the existing surge strips, because she wasn't sure the older surge strips needed replaced. Iexplained how surge strips work along with the whole house surge protector. I explained how all surgedevices work together much like safety devices in an automobile working together. I hoped this analogyprovided a better understanding, for Ms. [redacted], how surge devices all work to limit surges together.Ms. [redacted] then asked if I could check other receptacles using my plug-in tester for potential issues. Sheexpressed several receptacles seemed loose. All those checked appeared to be in good workingcondition. I completed my invoice and reviewed the work with Ms. [redacted]. She had no additionalquestions and didn't express concerns with our charges. She signed our work order and accepted thecharges for work completed. I provided & installed for Ms. [redacted] (2) complimentary plug-in surgeprotectors for her microwave units at no charge. No other contact was received from Ms. [redacted]regarding concerns about our work or our charges until about a week later.Recently, I received both a complaint letter from the Revdex.com Aug. 7th and email fromAngie's List on Aug. 8th regarding services we offered for Ms. [redacted]. I truly believe that Ms. [redacted]'sconcerns could have been resolved simply by contacting our office for an amicable resolution. Instead,she decided to file a complaint with both the Revdex.com and Angle's List instead of first calling our office.During our service trip for Ms. [redacted], I was able to not only resolve the electric issue, but answerquestions regarding home surge protection at her request. I provided professional services with thehighest level of respect for Ms. [redacted]. Unfortunately, Ms. [redacted] didn't express the same respect andconsideration toward Higher Power Electric and its owner. Ms. [redacted] did not afford Higher PowerElectric an opportunity to resolve her concerns and began an attempt to discredit and condemn areputable company. Several accusations were documented in Ms. [redacted]'s letters to both the Revdex.com and toAngie's List. Ms. [redacted] wrote that Higher Power Electric uses preferred pricing for male customers,"robs" their customers, and referred to Mr. P[redacted] as a "scoundrel" and "misogynistic pig". Suchaccusations are certainly inexcusable and are a defamation of character toward myself and HigherPower Electric. Higher Power, and its owner, provides our customers with the highest level of integrityand professional electrical services. Having received high ratings from both the Revdex.com and Angie's tistdemonstrates our level of commitment in providing top notch electrical services for the past 20 years.In reply, I would like to move toward a resolution for issues expressed in Ms. [redacted]'s letter. Ms. [redacted]requested a reimbursement of $178.00 for repairs/advice completed. This request is unreasonable sincerepairs were, in fact, completed with positive results. Also, I wish to state that all repairs and/or advicewere provided for Ms. [redacted] at her request. At no time were services offered without her firstrequesting and approving those services. Higher Power will offer to refund $59.00, the charge for ourservice trip to the residence. The remaining balance, $569.00, will not be refunded, as those serviceswere completed with positive results. I believe Ms. [redacted], in all fairness and respect, must address herinsensitive and defaming remarks expressed about Higher Power Electric. I would like to offer Ms. [redacted]an opportunity to apologize for her comments expressed, both to me, and Higher Power Electric,through the Revdex.com and Angie's List review services, and, to amend her cruel and maligned commentsabout Higher Power Electric.Respectfully,Patrick P[redacted]Higher Power Electric
