In response to the lab results from ITAL for my wedding dress, it clearly shows that the business is responsible for the yellowing done to my wedding dress.  This being said, I want Highland Cleaners to compensate me for the damages.  If the Revdex.com cannot get results from Highland Cleaners regarding compensation, then this matter will be escalated to the next step, which will be taking the business to court.   Everything [redacted] [redacted], part owner of Highland Cleaners, said about not being responsible is a lie.  The business just does not want to take responsibility for their actions and wrongdoing.  This business is unprofessional, liars, and very careless and incompetent with their work.  I would not trust them with any garments whether formal or informal.

According to Mrs. [redacted] I turned her white wedding dress into a stained yellow dress. But on the contrary, she didn't bring in just a white dress, she brought in a Beige White dress. Which is an off-set white and has natural pale yellowish color. When she brought in the dress I noticed the color of...

the dress was beige and I told her that information but she didn't respond so I took it as she already knew. I told her that I could finish the dress in a month if she really wanted to, but she said that I was allowed to take my time and that is what I did. The cleaning was time-consuming the dress was a mess when it came in. There were multiple torn cuts on the dress that needed sewing. Dirt and mold covered the foundation of the dress as well, so cleaning and repairing it all took more time than normal. When I finished cleaning the dress and showed it to her, she complained that it was stained yellow. But in fact the color she was seeing was the natural color of the dress, if I were to give her any leeway it would be that perhaps the color of the dress appeared differently to her under the tungsten LED lights that I have installed in my shop rather than daylight colors. But I have worked in this business for 8 years and have cleaned over 50 different wedding dresses and this is the first time that I got complaints for cleaning one. I am confident that the colors on that wedding dress is the original base color of the material that it was used to make the dress. But she wasn't satisfied, so I offered her a re-cleaning of the dress free of charge. So she left and came back again four weeks later and once again complained about the condition of the dress and claimed that I ruined it even thought I knew that I didn't. Next thing I knew she came back with her husband and then they started demanding and yelling that they get the dress back, the husband was hitting the counter and threatening to beat me up, both of them were shouting inappropriate words. The husband specificaly saying these words “I'm going to [redacted] kick your [redacted].” She says that I was rude and uncooperative, but they were holding up my business with their jeering. It was incredibly frustrating to deal with and I had no obligation to give their money back for a mistake they claim that I made. The total cost of the dress cleaning was 160 dollars and Mrs. [redacted] had already made an initial deposit of 100 dollars. But Mrs. [redacted] already used her credit card to issue a chargeback of 60 dollars that was due for the total cost of the dress. Now they are demanding that I recompensate for the entire dress of about 1,300 dollars, all for doing my job! I do not know what circumstances led them to believe that their dress was originally white white and not beige white. Perhaps the dress was dyed in the past and the color of the dye has simply worn out over the years. It would explain much since the dress was in such a terrible state when she gave it to me as well. But once again I have no obligation to listen to the demands these people are placing on me. I did my job and I expect to be paid in full for doing that job. I would like this ordeal to finished promptly and quickly, this has caused enough trouble for both parties as it is.

Review: I took my white wedding dress to Highland Cleaners May 2, 2014 to be cleaned, repaired, and preserved in a box. The owner, [redacted], told me the dress would be done in a month. I went in five times between May and September and ask for my dress back. Each time I went in, I was told the dress wasn't finished yet; it either was still being sewn or it still needed to be cleaned and boxed. On August 22, 2014, I went to pick up my wedding dress and turned it around and the back of my dress was stained yellow. Mr. [redacted] told me that it was not and I turned it around so the front faced Mr. [redacted] and told him you can clearly see the difference between the front of the dress and the back. He asked if I wanted it cleaned and I said yes. On September 8, 2014, I went back in to get my dress and my whole dress was discolored the yellow color. I told him why should I pay for this, that he ruined my dress and he said no pay, no dress and put my dress in the back. He told me that I brought my dress in like that and I said no I didn't. He would not give me my dress back so I left to get my husband and when we came back, the owner would not show my husband the dress until he paid. After repeatedly asking the owner to see the dress and him saying no, we agreed to pay for the dress and Mr. [redacted] brought the dress back out, wrapped up in plastic bags. My husband told him that's not how the dress was brought in and the owner denied that he did anything to my dress. We told him that he ruined my dress and he said no he didn't. The owner refused to compensate us for the cost of the dress and I now have a ruined dress. I was going to give it to my oldest daughter to wear in her wedding and now I cannot. The sentimental value is gone and I have cried many tears over this. We went in and showed him a before and after picture of the dress and the owner still denies that he ruined it and will not pay for his mistake. He has been very rude to us and uncooperative. This whole matter has been devastating to me.Desired Settlement: I just want the owner to compensate me for the cost of the dress and take responsibility for what he has done.

I put my garments into the clearer spoke with the man about what was on the garments. He lets me know that he would have to cover the pearls so they would not get damages I stated ok. On my return to his place I paid for the garments I look at the garments and notices that both of them was not cleaned. He stated that he could not get that out. I look and saw that my pearls was missing, he said you bought it in like that. I said no I did not. I said you can not hold my suit I paid for it, now I would like it back. He said no. I got my cell phone and called the police to come out and help me get back my suit. The police arrive and made him give me back my suit. My suit it total ruined.Desired Settlement: The owner of the cleaner need to refund my money for the cleaning and paid for one of my suits. I do have pictures of both suits.

Response:

This is [redacted] and I will provide information in response to complaint case #[redacted]: [redacted]. To begin I will explain what has happened through my perspective thus far. When the customer first entered the store. She carried to two white suits for me to dry clean. These suits were fairly formal and one of them had a large quantity of beads covering it. As someone who has been in the cleaner business for years. I knew that the beads on the clothing carried the risk of either falling off or coming loose after the process of dry cleaning it. I warned the customer how the beads may fall off or become damaged and the customer told me she was fine with it. So I took the clothes in the store and continued on with my business.

When she came back to pick up her clothes. I gave her back her suits and as she looked over them. She found a small pen marking stain on the white suit without the beads. Apologetically, I offered to clean off the pen marking if she would just wait for one moment, as it would not take that long. So as I took the white suit, without the beads, inside the shop to clean the stain off. She looked over the white suit with the beads on them and said she found one of the beads come loose on the suit. The same suit that I warned her that it holds the risk of a few beads coming off or becoming damaged after cleaning it. After that she started to behave erratically. The customer's daughter was outside waiting for her in the car and the customer called her in. After the customer explained her side of the story to her daughter. The daughter immediately demanded that I return the clothing to her now and started to make a tantrum. She started pounding the front desk and stood in the center of the doorway, blocking the entrance and preventing other customers from coming in, thus halting my business. I told the daughter that he mother wanted me to clean the stain off of the white suit with the pen marking on it. But she wouldn't listen to anything that I was saying and so they called the police after I told her I wasn't going to return the clothes until I finished cleaning them. When the policemen came, I explained the situation as best as I could to them and returned the suit to the customer after I cleaned the stain off.

But that wasn't the end of it, the two ladies demanded that I give the money back for the suit that had the beads all over it, because they say that it came out damaged. I gave them the proper warning that this scenario may happen and the customer said that she was "ok" with it in the first place. If they say that some beads are missing, then I have extra beads in my store that I could just use for replacements. When dry cleaning a large amount of clothes together, it is difficult to keep track of small objects if they fall off. The customer said she understood the risks when she brought the clothes in for dry cleaning. She was the one who agreed with the original terms that were already set in place. Yet she demands for free dry cleaning at the end of it all? I believe they have taken one step too far. This isn't the first time that someone made a scene just to get free dry cleaning in my store. I will not accept simply giving the money back for a job that I did exactly as I was told. This is how it all happened through my perspective. I hope to resolve this matter quickly and without any more problems so that I can continue on with my business.
