Highland Rentals, LLC purchased the duplex that [redacted] and guest was already renting for several years in a short saleWe, Highland Rentals LLC, did not receive any money for the tenant's prior deposit [redacted] allowed us to do a quick walk through prior to purchasing and agreed to continue to live there as long as we did not raise their rentThey requested to fix the exterior of the building which we did soon after purchasingThey declined to have anything else done to the interior of the buildingOver the years, he has made several complaints to us about his neighbors on the other half of the duplexThe overwhelming majority of the time he was advised to call the police or sheriff's department because they were accusations that we could not substantiate although he feared for his safetyHe apparently did so, several times, to no availHe was advised to move out if he felt his living envi***ment was unsafe, but chose to stay and pay rent on time every monthIn the last couple of days in September he informed my business partner, [redacted] ***, that they had moved out and the keys were in the mailThey did not give any notice prior to moving out but requested a return of their initial deposit of $that we never receivedI received several emails, which I have saved, asking several questions about my personal and work life that have relevance to the situationWhen I declined to answer his questions for the second and third time, he became angry in his emailsI have the final HUD statement showing that we never received any funds from a previous deposit [redacted] then did a Google search and contacted my employer trying to get information about me but they declined his requestHighland Rentals, LLC sent him a check for $to the forwarding PO Box address that they left for us for making payments on time for the years that we owned the propertyHe cut the check up in several small pieces and sent it back to [redacted] with several "Get Well Soon" stickers on the back of the envelope and no other paper or commentsWe told him that we will not pursue him for the lost rental income for not giving us proper noticeWe do not have a forwarding physical address and he will not answer or return phone calls to [redacted] ***I have considered this a done deal and have moved onNow I receive this while I am at a conference in Indianapolis with a short time limit to respondI am not sure what else to do at this point to make him go awayI have told him I would meet him in small claims court but he has declined that request alsoI have no idea what personal mission he is on, but I am glad he has removed himself from our property and hope he is doing well in his new residenceAny suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
