This letter is in response to the complaint from *** ***, Order/Account #***Mr*** brought his Toyota in on 10/25/with two complaints: a blinker that wouldn't shut off after turning and for a vibration that occurs around mph
We went over with Mr*** what the
diagnostics would consist of for both items and he approved the fees in writingWe performed a road test and Inspected the steering & suspension as well as performed a multi-point inspectionDuring this we noticed certain replacement parts that had been installed due to an accident but we determined these components were within factory specificationsWe also discovered a tire th;;it had a broken belt (a piece of tread missing) and determined it would need replacing to determine if that was the cause for the vibration
Alignments can be done without repairing suspension parts but it is High Tech's policy to repair unsafe items first (like a bad tire or bent wheel) before doing an alignment so the customer receives a proper & accurate alignment and will not have to have it done againIf the wheel was bent, that would throw off the angles and the alignment would also be offOnce the tire was replaced, the alignment performed prior would be inaccurate
We did not charge for an alignmentEvery customer receives a free multi-point inspection for safety reasons so we can make recommendations that would allow for customer safety & vehicle longevityWe would never do just an alignment without checking for bad brakes or other safety concernsWe understand that Mr*** is a student which is yet another reason we do the inspections - budgeting for car repairs is importantWe make recommendations based on what needs done immediately and what can be done at a later date
The $fee was for diagnostics onlyWe did not charge for anything else and we would never charge for anything we didn't do or for what was not necessary
We do not think a refund would be fair since we only charged the diagnostics and those charges were approved ahead of timeWe regret Mr*** had a negative experience with us but we stand by our charges and safety procedures & recommendations

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:The cost for the service performed by high tech auto is an outrage! ? And they know it! ? I have asked several reputable businesses about their service and they could not believe it! ? I showed them a copy of the receipt?

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: I did not ask for a diagnostic or multipoint inspection for my vehicle! ? I simply asked for an alignment and a blinker to be looked at? In my opinion nothing was done to 4runner except for a free multipoint inspection! ? I know this because I received the vehicle in exactly the same condition it was in when I dropped it off at High Tech auto! ? High Tech Auto fixed nothing, but charged me over $dollars for a diagnostic I didn't ask for? Hmmm? You be the judge? Sincerely,*** ***

To Whom It May Concern:
 
This letter is my 2nd response to the complaint from [redacted], Order/Account #[redacted]. I understand that Mr. [redacted] brought his Toyota in on 10/25/16 and did not request an inspection. He had only the two complaints: a blinker that wouldn't shut off after turning and for a vibration that occurs around 50 mph.
I'm sorry that he did not understand the charges he agreed to and for which he authorized. If he did not want the inspection, he should have said so before he signed the authorization and before we spent time on the vehicle. An alignment would have fixed the blinker issue but we feel it would have been a disservice to do this (and charge for it) when it would not have fixed the vibration. Our recommendation to fix the tire first was thf:! right thing to do - then we could have done the alignment once which would have fixed both issues - and he would have to only pay for ONE alignment_
 
We went over with Mr. [redacted] what the diagnostics would consist of for both items and he approved the fees in writing. We performed a road test and inspected the steering & suspension as well as performed a multi·point inspection. We spent the time inspecting the vehicle to determine the causes of his vehicle issues BUT, as we said before, an alignment would not have fixed both issues. Much like a doctor - even if the doctor cannot fix the problem, you still are required to pay for the office visit for time spent and for the diagnosis.
Again, we stand by our fee and feel Mr. [redacted] owes for the diagnostic fee - $114.59.
