We purchased our home in July In accordance with our agreement of purchase of sale, a leaking basement window had to be repaired by a reputable construction company, with all documents and warranties made out in our names as buyersFit Rite Construction & Renovation was hired by the sellers to repair the leak and all water damage surrounding the leaky windowFit Rite completed the job in July We were provided documents outlining what was done including photographs of the job by Fit RiteFit Rite also provided us with a document that states "As detailed in attached PDF the repair work to ** *** *** was completed properly in accordance with standard building practices to repair water damage, as well, preventing future damage." We felt confident at that time that the problem was resolved and closed on the dealIn September 2015, after a heavy rain storm, multiple puddles of water formed under the window Fit Rite repairedWater was dripping from the top of the window frame, which was where the original leak wasFit Rite was contacted and they came out to assess the situationWhen questioned about their warranty, I was informed that Fit Rite contracted the work out and that I would have to contact the sellers to find out who completed the jobFit Rite said I could hire them to fix the problem and repair the damage, but they were booked up for the next four months and wouldn't give me a quote, saying that with water it's hard to know how much damage there is until we open it up and it can get expensive quicklyThe only thing Fit Rite offered to do was to take off some caulking on the exterior of the home that was improperly applied by them and replace a dryer vent cover that had been broken during the job which was located close to the windowWe hired a different construction company to repair the damage and fix the leak, and they completed the work in October They mentioned that Fit Rite made errors that contributed to the reaccuring leakIf Fit Rite had properly fixed the leak and replaced all damaged materials, the window would have remained drySince the repair was completed properly in October, we have had no further evidence of water coming into our homeWhen Fit Rite was hired, we were told that they were a reputable company that would stand behind their workInstead of peace of mind that our home was dry and the job was done well, we were left with a leaking window and a large bill for a job that should have already been done
