Hilite Photo and Video Productions Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Mike from HiLite Studio is of course way out of line with his response. I told Mike the exact number of family members I had to take photos with and he was supposed to alott the right amount of time at the beginning of the wedding/ The photographer came up to me once during the reception to take photos and we did so. Weather I had 15 drinks at my wedding or 0 is absolutely none of his business. His emails have been unprofessional condescending and down right insulting. In one email he says there's nothing wrong with the photos, then in another he asks me to send them back via US mail and then he will try and fix them or he will replace them with another photo. For example if I sent him a blurry picture of my mother and he could not fix it he would replace it with a photo of a centerpiece. That is not okay with me. In the email to the Revdex.com he said he has no other photos, again making no sense. I do not feel comfortable sending the photos back and not getting a similar photo in replacement of the other. Is there a way I can show someone at the Revdex.com the photos? I also attached a letter from my co worker who is the head of Graphic design and IT department at my job who has listed "professional" facts about the photos. Any help you can provide me with this would be greatly appreciated. [redacted]###-###-####

Review: My number one complaint was that the owner picked my wedding photos for an "album" which was never discussed before hand. I was willing to live with that but the 300 photos he picked are horrible they are not even proof photos they are blurry, from weird angles, have no scenery and are down right unprofessional. He only responded to my emails when I threatened him with legal actions and wrote reviews of his company on all of the wedding websites. His responses are rude unprofessional and pretty much indicating that he does not need to please a client. His "final offer" was for me to send the ones I "don't like" back and he will try to fix them and not grunteed at all also not garunteeing I will get the same photo back (incinuating that he can trade a blurry photo of my mother coming down the isle with a centerpiece photo). I also spoke to the photographer after receiving the album and he told me that he took over 600 photos.Desired Settlement: I would like the photos I have fixed (with some garuntee that I get back the same photo or something similar) and I would like to be able to see the rest of the photos. I would also like to be treated with respect I'm the client.

Response:

We are happy to respond to this complaint and to straighten this out. We have not picked her photos for her at all, but rather deleted 99% of those that had blinks, closed eyes, misfires, or any uncomplimentary to the client, where she may have made a bad face or anything along those lines; while keeping those of the same pose that are better or best. This is simple editing and is also common sense. In no case has any photo been deleted if we didn't have a better one. In addition, all the 'usual' shots taken at weddings were done: poses with family, bridal party, bride & groom, first dance, toast, cake cutting and many more. The photos are of good professional quality with proper exposure and clarity, and we stand by them. The album has 301- photos which is the correct amount in her order there was to be 275 to 300.As far as scenery in the photos, our photographer asked many times for her to do more, and if there was anything at all else she would like, and she didn't comply to do so in front of any other locations than those we shot, which are really very nice and the backgrounds are fine, those of her venue at The Crest Hollow Country Club. At one point our photographer was waiting for her to do more photos but she was unable to, as she had too much to drink and had to be taken out into another room for awhile, which is understandable as it is a celebration, but did make it difficult; nevertheless we did our job correctly and professionally, we also received an email from her the next day telling us how happy she was with our photographer and all that he did!The claim that we are rude or unprofessional or have not responded is simply untrue, I have personally responded to no less than 15 emails, but she only wants to say the she's the client so she's right and we're wrong, and that not all brides are happy 100% of the time, so we should do something for her, so obviously wants something for nothing for no reason other than that, which makes no sense at all.In reference to having us 'fix' any photos, (although there's nothing wrong with them!) I did offer several times to try to do so anyway and she has not yet complied.

Response:

The reason we offered to 'fix' any photos was simply to make an attempt to satisfy the client although there is no fixing needed, we made the offer anyway, and would do whatever is possible, depending on what the request is of course, and if it is a reasonable request. If the client isn't 'comfortable' with that and doesn't want us to do so then that's fine too. We have acted professionally and appropriately for the circumstances every step of the way and stand by our work.
