I met with my primary physician [redacted], on Monday April 22, 2014 for the first time. I asked if there was a co-payment and the office said there was, I said might this be my annual physical in which there would be no co-payment, the office said no, you would make another appointment for your annual physical. I paid the co-payment and met with my Dr. who proceeded to do a physical and said I did not need to see him for a year, I asked if this was my annual physical and he said yes. When I left I told the receptionist who handled my transaction if I could have my $15.00 co-payment check back. She said no, its there policy to receive a co-payment on the first visit. I explained that my insurance benefit allows no co-payment on my annual visit with my primary. She said she would check with her boss and call me, she never called by late in the day so I called back and spoke with a Cathy who also told me I could not receive my co-payment back. She did say she would speak with her boss and call me back which she did and continued to say they would not return my payment. My Primary physician met with me, did my annual visit and said he would see me in a year. There is no co-payment for that visit, they should have returned my check, they denied my right as a patient to receive my insurance benefit.
