Responding to this claim within 3 hours same day of receiving notice.  This machine was and is still under warranty.  This machine has been repaired and returned to the customer.  The machine was disassembled here and Hillsboro Equipment then sent it to Midwest Stihl (Stihl...

distributor in Hayward, WI) for further examination because this is an extremely rare occurrence to have this new of a machine have this type of failure.  Upon examining the failed parts the distributor's techinician noted the scoring of the piston.  In similar failures he has known the cause to be lack of lubrication.  Lack of lubrication comes from an inadequate mixture of gas to oil for this 2-stroke motor.  The distributor offered to make a special allowance because lack of lubrication or an inadequate mix is not covered by warranty.  We accepted their offer to replace the parts and we then repaired the machine.  The machine was returned to the customer.  In his conversations with our service department and the personnel at Slama's Lawn & Sport the customer has expressed his gratitude several times for our excellent service.  Not sure why we have a Revdex.com claim.The customer's machine has been fully repaired with absolutely no cost to the customer for a repair that was questionable to be covered under the scope of warranty.  We would ask that the customer withdraw the complaint or at least state his full satisfaction with the service we provided even prior to our knowledge of a Revdex.com claim.Thank you.[redacted]Hillsboro EquipmentMauston EquipmentSlama's Lawn & Sport

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  I do feel that Hillsboro Equipment and Slama's both treated me well. I did have some concerns on the time frame it took to get saw back.I also feel Hillsboro Equipment's voice in the matter was the reason for the warranty coverage.Thank you

Review: I purchased a stihl MS 391 chainsaw - serial number [redacted] from [redacted], Reedsburg Wi in 2014.

Also at that time I purchased stihl ultra 1 gallon mix oil and 1 gallon chain oil.

I have not run a gallon of gas/oil mix through this chain saw since purchased. Saw appeared to run fine although it may have taken longer to start than my previous chain saw. I owned a Husqvarna for 22 years. I purchased a new saw for better power and longer bar so as not needing to bend as much. I cut wood for the exercise and enjoyment of it. I primarily cut wood for neighbors, friends who have difficulties doing it themselves.

I was a automotive service manager/mechanic for 20 plus years. I am no novice around machines or tools

I brought the Stihl chainsaw to [redacted] for servicing and chain sharping to get ready fro Fall season. The saw was than sent to Hillsboro Equipment to service.

After a couple of weeks I was contacted and told the saws piston and cylinder were scored. The service person said he had already ordered the replacement parts but Midwest Stihl - Hayward WI claimed saw would not be covered under warranty, claiming I ran saw with out oil mixed in gas.

I explained to service tech at Hillsboro that the saw was barely used and that I had not run a gallon of fuel through the saw yet. The tech agreed that saw did not appear to be used much and that the saw fuel tank did have oil/gas mix. I was also informed when I asked the cost to repair saw and was told it would be almost as much as a new saw. He said he would send parts to Midwest Stihl for them to see.

I used Stihl fuel mix oil and chain oil and correct octant gas in this saw as stated in manual. I have not used a gallon of fuel since saw purchased.

I already paid $601.30 for a saw, that was hardly used. I am not paying for basically a second saw.

I expect to have saw replaced or repaired if possible under warranty.
