Review: On Sunday, October *, 2015, at approximately 5:20 pm, a mechanic named Steve approached me at the grounds of Hillside Auto Care Inc. body shop, posing as a mechanic from this body shop. He told me that my car needed repairs on the fender and underneath the car. He told me that he would provide me with a receipt once the work was done. I believed that his diagnosis for my car was correct, because I had experienced problems with my car since I had run over a loose muffler on Hillside Avenue in Queens in June. I had also noticed that parts of my car, including the mud guard and parts of the fender had gotten loose since the muffler incident. Steve, whose phone number is ###-###-####, told me to pick up my car once the repairs were completed on Wednesday, October *, 2015. Although Steve had promised a receipt in person and via text message, he refused to give me one when I picked up my car. He ended up charging me a total of $11,100 when I picked up the car, demanding that the entire payment be made in cash. When I complained to the manager of Hillside Auto Care, Inc. body shop, the manager told me he had no knowledge of a mechanic named Steve. However, I believe the body shop should do a better job of guarding its premises from mechanics posing to work for the body shop.Desired Settlement: I believe that I was severely overcharged for the car repairs. Another mechanic named Irvin Finlay (phone number:###-###-####) checked my car and wrote a note on his letterhead a few days after I paid for the car repairs, stating that no parts were changed underneath my car. I believe that the total cost of repairs and modifications should have only cost around $1,000, not the $11,100 that was charged.
