Customer initially brought vehicle in on XXXXXX at 9:am for an AC service, stating the AC system is not coolingCustomer was quoted and signed approving $which included pound of freon ($30.00) oz oil/dye ($5.00) and $labor
plus taxes
Tech performed service and found no visible leaksSystem held vacuum and tech found no freon in systemTech recharged system and reviewed pressures which indicated very high pressure on High sideTech found the cooling fans did not come on when AC was turned onTech requested additional time to diagnose the problem with the cooling fans and the electrical systemCustomer was contacted by telephone at 10:am on XXXXXX advised of issue and approved an additional hours ($157.50) labor to diagnose fan issueTechnician checked wiring and connectors and found a blown fuse and corrosion at the fan connector which he cleaned and reinstalled connectorThe blown fuse on AC circuit was probably do to the corrosion on connectorAfter repairing fan circuit tech rechecked pressures and still found very high pressuresThis is a common problem with a plugged or restricted condenserCustomer was contacted and advised of additional findingsCustomer declined any additional repairsCustomer was advised of cost to repair AC system which included an AC condenserCustomer was given a discount of the original AC service and only charged for parts and labor for the diagnosisCustomer was not charged for Freon
The reason there was no freon in the system originally was do to the high pressures in the system forcing the freon out through the high pressure valve relief valve on the AC compressorAs a State certified repair center we CANNOT leave freon in a system that we know will escape into the atmosphereThe customer was advised of this when vehicle was delivered
