tile work he provided has failed approx 1 year after intstallation. He has not responded to our requests for repair.They were recommended to us through our general contractor to rebuild the glass black wall in the corner of our master bathroom shower. In about a year, the simple project has completely failed. Mr [redacted] made a visit after my initial phone call and request he come and look at what had happened. Upon inspection of his work, he simply scratched his head and said he didn't know what had happened and how to fix it.. He asked for some time to allow him to do "research". Two months later after not hearing from him, I called and he once again asked for more time. A third call about a month later, I told him it was getting worse and it simply needed to be replaced. That is the last time I spoke with him. I got my general contractor involved, and he has now stopped taking his calls as well. Completely unprofessional behavior and shoddy work that doesn't hold up. We had a glass block in this same place that lasted 20 years. His work only lasted a year. Now we have to pay to have it redone with no word of apology from him. He does NOT stand behind is own work.Desired Settlementrefund on work he provided as we have now been forced to find another tile company at our own expense to repair/replace his inferior work.Business Response /[redacted]/We removed the existing glass block that they had installed when the house was built. The general contractor repaired the opening of the rotten wood. We proceeded to re install the new glass block which was installed per manufacture's specifications. We received a call regarding the mildew issue and we contacted the manufacturer. The manufacturer said they have never had any issues like what we described. We have never had this issue happen before either. We are under the understanding that this is a mildew-mold issue which is a issue out of our control. We can not control the growth of mildew and mold nor where it grows therefore removing and re installing the glass block does not guarantee fixing the issue. We do not have a ideal and guaranteed solution to fix this issue. Consumer Response /[redacted]/Mold and mildew are not a problem when the block is installed properly. The solution to this problem was given to Mr. [redacted]: redo it PROPERLY. We had no mold or mildew for 19 years when it was originally installed, properly. There is currently no mold or mildew anywhere in the shower area except BETWEEN the glass block tiles. There was no need to ever call the glass block manufacturer as there is no fault with the glass itself. The problem is improper installation of the product, grout work that has developed hundreds of hairline cracks and a lack of sealant. These issues have lead to water seeping into the spaces between the blocks and visible black mold has grown - unreachable by cleaning methods. When we questioned Mr. [redacted] at the time of install about the lack of sealant, he said grout products were so much better that it was no longer necessary. Our original glass block corner was installed 19 years ago and we had NONE of these problems until the exterior frame started to show some rot which is why we had the whole project done. The fact that Mr. [redacted] has no idea how to fix his own work that has failed in approx 1 year, proves that he might be in the wrong business. Perhaps he has never installed glass block before and simply took on a project that was above his level of skill and expertise. We are simply asking that if he can't stand behind his own work then he should reimburse us for the fact the we have to bear the expense of having the glass block completely redone....Again, a need solely due to his company's faulty work.
