Hip and Ridge Construction Reviews (11)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Our family signed a contract for the work to be done for $110,000. We paid the business the initial $4,000 for plans based on this estimate.  We never would have given them $4,000 if they had given us an honest estimate. [redacted] of the company admitted that he never saw the final plans but allowed the company to sign off on the $110,000 contract.  When [redacted] realized the work would cost much more, he offered to give us our money back.  He has not done that.  The contractor we met, Josh [redacted], assured us that the company would give us at least some money back if the project somehow didn't work out.  Given that it is the company's own negligence in looking over plans that caused this deal to fall through, I would think they'd refund us the entire amount.  The plans are useless to us given the cost of the project.  Due diligence by the company would have prevented this.  Instead, we are left with a "bait and switch" where the company drew us in with one price and then raised it well out of our range.  My hope is that the company will do the right thing and refund our money.  If they do, I will promptly remove this complaint.

We did enter into a contract on July 22/2015 for $4000 to provide a set of architectural detailed drawings. There was an estimate of $110,000 for the addition project, if we could come to terms on the project to start in the fall the $4000 would have gone twords the new contract. It was stated in...

the first contract that a second detailed contract would need to be written to move forward with the project once the plans were provided and true costing was established. We could not get to the price that Brett was comfortable paying and agreed not to continue. The check for $25,000 was never cashed and destroyed after discussions with Joan [redacted] (mother who wrote the check)The contract for $4000 was fulfilled and plans were provided and are the property of Brett [redacted] and is free to use the drawings/plans to pursue another builder. All financial transactions are complete

Company said that the consumer did not like how long the job took to do. Company apologized to the consumer and settled.

We have replaced the flooring that was unsatisfactory and are scheduling the service touch ups early this week which will complete customers requests

Home owner did sign a completion and satisfaction certificate, our sub contractor for the job didn't perform the job to our or the homeowners standards, we attempted a repair/service that uncovered some other errors. We are scheduling the redo and correction on all sections of concern.

We hired this company to insulate, side and install new windows in our house. They were also to side the garage, reroof it and install a new side door.
The entire ordeal was a nightmare. We were constantly told it would only take a couple weeks. The work started on August 5th and it is still not completed. The manager and owner started calling and coming out before the work was even completed wanting the second half of their payment. We told them there was still work to be completed before we would finish paying them. Did they come and finish the job? No, they had an attorney contact us and they put a lien against our home. Which we now find out they can't do as they have never finished the job.
We have a piece on one of the windows that is still broken (was broken since the day they installed it), they broke a shingle on our house and never replaced it, every day we had to clean up the mess that was left, siding and insulation was left out in the elements, we asked for but were never given warranties or color codes, there are many more issues with their job but the most important one is that the window installation is so horrible that they have to be reinstalled!!!!!! The windows are siliconed in - yes you can see the silicone on the inside and the outside of the windows!!!!!
This is not a company that you want to do any business with. They talk a good talk but seriously seem to lack the ability to do the job.

I had my house painted by Hip and Ridge construction and would not recommend them to anyone. The paint job is all blotchy and there is overspray everywhere. I called the painter and explained the problem. He said said he was booked for the next week but would take care of the problem. Haven't heard from Him (three weeks now) and hope I don't. I don't want them back. My deck has paint spills that they wiped up and smeared all over. Very poor workmanship.

Initially entered into a contract with this company for replacement downstairs windows. I was told 6 weeks for completion. 3 months later still no windows. I was finally contacted after I went into the office to try and cancel the contract. I was told by the contractor that he had accidentally lost my paperwork and that the windows would be installed within the next two weeks. Three weeks went by....I finally called and then an appointmentioned was set up. There is no accountability with this company and certainly no customer service. DO NOT USE!

Review: Company started a project 6 months ago. It was a short project that could have been finished in a couple hours. They abandoned the job. I called 3 or 4 times in the last 6 months and asked them to finish. Each time they promised it would be finished that day. A week ago, they came to finish the project. I am unhappy with the fact that the project was not finished in a timely fashion. I asked for a copy of our contract and they refused to give me one. They are now threatening to file a lien on our property if we do not pay today.Desired Settlement: I do not want to pay full price for the services provided. This company abandoned our project and showed up 6 months later to finish and ask for payment.

I would like a copy of my contract.

Talk a good talk, but overall, they are terrible business people with no moral standing or obligation. Dave and Todd have screwed multiple sub contractors out of a lot of money. If you get a job done by them, make sure your money goes to the people that do it. They have no conscious. Would not only not recommend, I would beg you not to use this company. Their are hard working honest carpenters out there. General rule, if the contractor you're working with never swings a hammer himself, don't use him.
