Hip Hop Wireless Reviews (2)

Review: On May **, 2013 [redacted], I and [redacted] purchased a used White iPhone 4S from the store called "hip hop wireless" which cost approximately $390.00. $350.00 for the used White iPhone 4S, $30.00 dollars for the first bill, and $10.00 dollars for the activation fee. The young man that works at that store behind the counter told us the only thing that was wrong with the phone was the fact that it has a few scratches on it. The first day we took the phone home, we found out that there was something else wrong with the phone besides the few scratches that were on it. The non-working volume on the phone was the main issue now. We then discovered that they have sold us a faulty phone. The volume kept going in and out and muting itself while listening to music and while receiving incoming phone calls when the ringtone plays. 2 days later, which was approximately on May **, we took the White iPhone 4S back to the store to ask them if they could fix the problem that we were experiencing. They said come back on Friday, May ** to pick the phone up because it would be fixed by then. We then go back to the store on May ** to pick up the phone. They tell us that the man that is supposed to fix the phone isn't here today and to come back on Sunday, June *. We then come back June *, we walk into the store. The man that works there looks at us, hands us the phone and say "The phone is fixed, by the way, you have to press the volume button extra hard in order for it to work." We then ask of we can get a brand new phone, because we do not want a non-working phone that we just spent $390.00 for. He then says "I have to call by boss to see if I can give you a new phone." When he gets off the phone he then says, yes I can sell you this phone, and points to a phone behind the glass on display. He then states, "This phone is brand new, but it is the iPhone 4 and it is $400.00. He then tells us we can't get the "brand new phone" until we pay a 25 percent restock fee for the first phone that was damaged when he sold it to us, on tip of the 50 dollar difference between the first phone and the "brand new phone". He charges us $137.50 for the new phone. We take it home to find out that there is no sim card installed. I call the store and ask why didn't he install a SIM card in the brand new phone. He insist that I had the SIM card in my possession. I tell him that I never removed the SIM card and that as a person working in a cell phone store, that was his job to make sure there was a SIM card installed in the brand new phone. He says call back in 5 minutes. I call back 5 minutes and he then says come to the store and pick up the SIM card. We had to pay to get back to the store to get the SIM card that he should have installed in the first place before we left the store. We get to the store to pick up the SIM card. We take the phone home. We then find out that the phone we paid full brand new price for is not even a brand new phone because there was a voice memo dated 5/**/13 and we purchased the phone on 6/*/13, approximately 17 days after the voice memo was recorded. Also, the voice memo wasn't recorded by anyone that works in the store. It was recorded by a customer that the phone was sold to before we, [redacted] and [redacted] bought the phone. We want our money back for being scammed and lied to twice about both phones which totals up to the amount of $487.50. We deserve our money back. We do not deserve to be scammed. In is unjust.Desired Settlement: I would like a complete refund of everything that we were charged for unnecessarily. The first phone which was a defective used white iPhone 4S ($350.00), the $50.00 dollar difference for getting the second 400 dollars phone which was used when they said it was brand new, and the 25 percent restock fee that they charged us for giving the first phone back. (Which was 25 percent of 350 dollars) ($87.50). Everything that I feel we deserve to get back in cash equals up to the sum of $487.50.

Sincerely,

Review: I brought in two (2) Verizon cell phones which are currently under a 2 year contract with Verizon. I asked for both phones to be changed to a different carrier and was told to leave the phones and call the next day because she wasn't sure if that could be done. I asked her what the price would be and she told me she'd tell me when I called the next day. I left the phones and got a receipt for both phones. I told her NOT to do anything to my phones until I called her the next day because I wasn't sure if I could afford the job. I told her FIVE (5) times NOT to do anything to my phones until I got a price. I also heard her call the store where the phones were being sent to and tell them a number of times NOT to do anything to the phones because she's not sure if I would have the money. I went to the store and they told me my phones were not there. The phones were in their Manhattan store and that one of the phones was altered (unlocked) to be used on any other carrier. I told her FIVE (5) times. Do not do anything until you give me a price. They charged me $60 to unlock my phone. I refused to pay $60 because I never asked them to do anything to my phone. I wasn't sure if I had the money. He would not give me my phones. I was forced to pay $35 so that he can release MY phones.

So, I brought in 2 Verizon phones which are under a 2 year contract. I received one phone with nothing done to it. The second phone was unlocked without my consent. I had to pay $35 to spend 24 hours paying for cell phone service that I could not use because they had my phones and got a verizon phone with a 2 year contract, unlocked so that I may use it with the same said service.

$35 = 24 without a phone and a verizon phone unlocked to use with verizon service. Not to mention the fact that I am coming from Yonkers to the Bronx and then Manhattan.

When I called the store to complain, they hung up the phone.Desired Settlement: Unfortunately, I will not be able to get my time or gas refunded so I will settle for a refund of my $35.
