Review: I dropped off some of my paperwork for my taxes to be filed. She told me she couldn't get to it right away probably by the end of the week she would be able to. I left some of my documents went home talked it over with my husband and we found someone who could do them sooner. So the next day I go to pick up half of what I dropped off and basically if I didn't pay her $180 she wouldn't release my documents. She did no work and I felt threatened so I paid with my credit card to get out of there.Desired Settlement: I would like my $180 credit back to my credit card

In regard to [redacted] complaint I regret to inform you that I am rejecting her claim as there was nothing threatening in our exchange, neither her documents were held for payment. The $180.00 paid was a payment that we both agreed of t** total of the $ 320.00 for the work done and the time invested in the return and that her paid willfully. We have prepared [redacted]’ s income tax returns for the past six years.

Our records shows that we prepared an Income Tax return for [redacted] on April 15, 2014,

[redacted] came to our office the night before ( April 14 ) to droop off her W2 Form and some other documents for their 12/13 return and continued to supply information by phone and by person on 4/15. They did not scheduled and appointment this year even though they were reminded by writing as their business requires to provides us with records of income and expenses, book keeping among other financial records/documents in order to substantiate any credit or deductions. After I notice that [redacted] was rumbling through a pile of unorganized receipts and papers and presenting partial income of her husband business (1099 Misc forms).

I proceeded to inform [redacted] that due to the complexity of their return and because t**y did not have all t**ir documents organized to file on time, that t**re would be a possibility for them to file an extension until they gather the proper documents to file a accurate return. However [redacted] replied that [redacted] would provide the missing information via E-mail and requested to go ahead and start the preparation of their return with the documents [redacted] provided. And trusting her we agreed to do so since is the way [redacted] has done in the past six years. Same day @ 9:00pm [redacted] called us to give us more information and to clarify more doubts on how to come out with the figures required to finish their tax return after giving her Instructions, on 4/15 [redacted] returned to see results of their return I explain that without t** proper information t** results were not favorable to [redacted] replied that [redacted] would be back with the missing information soon. by that time I was 95% done with the return Then and hour latter Mr. [redacted] came to the office to bring more information for t** return and expend almost 40 minutes trying to get deductions that were not permissible to them. he left and said he would be back with more information too.

An hour later Mr [redacted] called and demand for the return of their paperwork I agree to return Mr [redacted] documents but I also informed him that there was a charge for my services and for the time spent on their tax return and that charge, his wife and I had previously agreed when [redacted] requested our services.

Unfortunately I must point out t[redacted]. and Mr. [redacted] only decided to pull out their forms after the work was done only because they got upset that they did not like the refund amount they saw at that point in their return

I exercise Due Diligence every time I prepare a tax return, I have 23, years in the business. I provide services for a living and my product is my knowledge. I do not have control of people expectations regarding refunds I must follow t** law. Therefore I find her complain baseless and I can not refund her any money.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[I strongly disagree because on 4/14/14 I dropped only my w-2 and expenses, my husbands income was never calculated or dropped off and that is what Teresa was waiting on, I did send her an email on 4/14/14 and never received an email back. Also never did she communicate about any tax refund as a matter of fact we owed the IRS. I did feel threatened that I would not receive my documents back, so that is why I paid, to get out of there and have my taxes done somewhere else which I did. I don't know how she was able to draw up both my and my husbands paper work with missing information. Not to mention she said it would take until the end of the week to get to our taxes and that's why I went the next day to pick up my documents to have them done sooner. I would like a refund of $180]
