Review: This company and its principal, [redacted], is an electrical contractor, electrician, in Dutchess County, New York, who on a service call to my home in Ulster County, claimed that despite the whole-house generator itself working, a control board which controlled automatic operation had been "fried" and malfunctioned, a result of super-storm Sandy. He then sold me, at the beginning of March, 2013, installation of a new replacement generator, and insisted that I pay substantially all of the cost up-front. After waiting 3 months for the installation to occur, I opened the unit outside and uncovered that Mr. [redacted], when concluding the service call 3 months back, intentionally failed to plug the control cables back into the control box rendering inoperable a good machine thus sabotaging it. I then reconnected the cables and it worked fine. The problem was simply a mechanical connection. Re-seating the cable outside was all that was necessary to repair the unit and only a simple service/repair was required. I called and emailed Mr. [redacted] to cancel the order/installation but Mr. [redacted] refused to return or refund my payment of $3349, claiming it was non-refundable under an 'agreement' which does not exist or one I agreed to. This was a totally false claim or defense. This Company violated New York State Consumer Protection Laws; did not provide a contract for the work involved; demanded and took an excessive down-payment; engaged in deceptive practices; engaged in consumer fraud; misrepresentations; intentional misconduct and theft of $3349 for purchase of product/services never delivered. If in fact, the 'new' generator was actually installed, it would have been an outdated generator unit, no longer in production. The conduct of this Company and its principal, Mr. [redacted] is such that in my view, no consumer or business should utilize the services of this Company or its principal and "master" electrician for any project large or small.Desired Settlement: Refund of my payment. I am embarrassed and humiliated and should further action be undertaken, I will not limit my damage demand or claim to simply a refund and this complaint is filed with full reservation of rights.
