I contacted HKC upon purchasing our home back in mid-May. They came out quickly to provide an estimate - but then several weeks went by without any call to schedule or someone to complete the work. I followed up again and finally, on 6/13, they sent someone to complete the work.
s. The sad part is, he was great when he was trying to SELL me. Now, it is a different story.
When the salesperson (Dave) called the following week about the invoice, I told him I was paying by credit card and he referred me to the main office. I spoke with Jackie on 6/21 and she explained that processing a credit card payment would force me to pay additional fees - and she didn't want me to pay anymore than I had to. She told me to send a check for what I could - and I could split it up over a few payments. I sent $200 that week. I had planned to send a follow-up payment last week, but had to replace our main breaker on the electrical panel. Life happens!
Yesterday, I received a nasty message (from Dave) saying I was on his collection report and my account was 74 days late. And if he didn't get payment by the end of the week, it would be turned over to collections. First off, how is my account 74 days past due when the work wasn’t done until 6/13? That would make it MAYBE 40 days old. Secondly, I offered to pay the full amount initially – and explained to the main office that I didn’t have $700 in cash to give them. Jackie was nice and accommodating and said it would not be a problem to make it over the course of a few payments. Either Dave and the main office do not communicate – or Dave is just an a
To be clear, I was NEVER trying to get out of paying my bill. But now that I am being harassed and threatened with being sent to collections – over $500 – it makes me NOT want to ever use OR refer them to anyone else again.
My rating is for customer care. I have a bill that is past due. I called and explained I forgot all about it. I was transferred to the office manager(***) and I explained to her I forgot because I had some issues going on and I wanted to see if I could possibly make payments. I am/was not trying to get out if paying. I was told, it is past due and I couldn’t make any pay arrangements. Also, it had 160 days before it went to collections and if it didn’t get paid, they would put a lien on my house. I said ok and hung up. I had 1 gutter put up which was $450. I am told a lien is going to be put on my house if the bill goes to collections because the bill is past due.
I understand I owe and I am going to pay. The office manager, ***, did not give any options. She did say it was too late for financing. I went to HKC because they did my roof in which they received $6600 with no problems. The roof is great and *** was nice. I am just frustrated by the latter transaction.
Hello sir, I apologize that you are frustrated with this situation.. we never want someone leaving us feeling that we were not informative with options however I feel we did our best to inform you of what we could do-we have to follow company policies and unfortunately we were unable to meet an agreement based around those policies. We do not offer financing for anything under $1000 so that could not be an option in your circumstances. It has 160 days until they turn it over, you could make payments before that time frame is up and avoid the lien? I hope you understand our situation & that company policies tie our hands sometimes- I hope payments spread over the next 160 days will work for you as you do have that time frame to get it paid. HKC hopes and wishes we can get this resolved and we do not have to turn this case over as we want nothing but happy customers.
I explained to the office manager I had some issues and I “forgot” about the bill. I never said you did not properly inform me. When I ask if I could make the payments. I was told NO and a lien would be put on my house in 160 days. I ask if I could pay it within the next 160 days and I was told it was already past due and you all did not take payments.
As I stated, I was not trying to get out of paying the bill. Circumstances came up and I forgot until I got this past due bill.
Always prompt, courteous and knowledgeable-with a "can-do" attitude.

HKC did and excellent job with installing gutters on our house. Thought I may have an issue with the flow in one gutter after heavy rainstorm. Talked with Jessie late that evening and David was at our house at 7:30 am the next morning and immediately fixed the level of the gutter. Service was excellent with the installation and follow-up later. Would highly recommend HKC.
I am so thankful we called this company to put our new roof on !!! They took the time to get everything out of our insurance that we were supposed to get which was a lot less than they was going to pay ! Saved us over two thousand dollars ! I can't say enough good things about this company , we even got replacement windows from them ! Awesome job and service start to finish !
