I hired Mark to originally fix metal siding on our garage which he said he could do as well as change some door frames that had water damage. He found multiple other problems which we contracted for him to fix as he stated he had done this type of work before. One of the projects was adding pancake vents to the roof and fix our ridgeline vent to stop moisture in the attic. He brought a person who he said was a roofer and guaranteed his work. He refuses to give me the name and number of the roofer as I have questions about if the pancake vents are sealed correctly and the ridgevent looks the same as it did before they came to work on it. Mark spent a lot of time on the phone and did very poor quality work.
1. The back door - he replaced the frame but the door will not lock and is not even flush in the frame. We asked him repeatedly to fix it which he said he would. Apparently when he realized what he thought would work couldn't he just left it as is with exposed wood (part of the original problem), a crack between the frame and door that is large enough to see through to the outside, and the lock not lined up and unable to secure the door. Concrete sealer was splashed all over the side of the house next to where he mixed it so siding has to be pressure washed to get it off, and all over the cement.
2. Chimney- he was to put new flashing around it and seal with shingles. He left the original flashing, put shingles on 3 sides which he was to come back and trim the shingles so it looks better, slung tar all over our back porch and didn't bother to clean up after himself.
3. Roof- ridgevent looks the same as it was before his worker went up on roof. From the ground it looks as though shingles may or may not be laid over the lip of the pancake vent to seal it. Currently waiting for it to start leaking when the rains come back.
4. Garage door siding- termite damage was found so originally was going to wait for terminex to fix because he said it was active but they said it was old. We asked him to finish it. He originally didn't get the correct metal I assume so came back with some PVC stuff that he said would shrink to the wall and seal but that he would come back the following Monday to finish that work. So he screwed and nailed the PVC stuff to the wall. In the meantime he broke our garage door and blamed it on my 16 year old. We realized as we were taking down the PVC stuff to redo the garage siding ourselves that he pushed the door back while trying to screw in the PVC which broke the tension on the door (this verified by the repairman from Precision garage doors- $140 I had to pay to be able to open and shut the garage door). He also broke the keyless door opener which I have to replace.
5. Standard door at garage- He replaced the door frame going into our garage. Again poor craftmanship. Didn't even drill a hole to be able to lock the door which now can't be secured so have to put heavy equipment in front of it so that no one can come into the garage. He doesn't know how to clean up the caulking appropriately nor did he clean up after himself at any of his projects.

I have a contract with him which it states he would be back the following Monday to complete his work. I stupidly paid for what he had done even though we told him multiple times it wasn't right and it needed to be corrected which he agreed to do. I have text conversations as well. He told multiple stories while he was here that contradicted each other. He said he would come back to fix his mistakes and would no show each day he said he was to come. He used our tools to do the work. I thought he was using his own and had left them laying around because he was coming back the following week to finish. It wasn't until my husband said they were his tools that I realized that he had used our stuff to do his work. A drill has since gone missing. He said he didn't take it. All I know is it was here before he came, it was in the area where the other tools he used were, it's not here now and he and his friends are the only people outside of the ones living in this house who've been here. He said he didn't take it but nothing else he has told me has been the truth either. We paid him a total of $3000 for subpar and incomplete work. My fault for agreeing and writing the check but he said his child was sick and that's a soft spot for me. Plus he told me and wrote on a contract he was coming back Monday to finish his work and I guess I figured he was honorable. We've since paid another $300 to fix the siding on the garage door. We will have to pay even more to fix the two doors and who knows how long the roof will go before it starts to leak as well as the chimney. This man is dishonest and does not know what he's doing. I would not want him back but my sibling wants him to come fix his work as we know there's no way to recoup some (I don't want all) of our money that he took. I'm happy to supply pictures.
