We were contracted by *** *** builder to install the HVAC for his new homeOur contact with the builder clearly states in bold print that we are not responsible for any wiringEvidently the electrician that was hired had some issues with wiring these units so we sent someone out to help
remedy the situationWhile we were there we found dirty air filters in the units and *** *** said he would take care of replacing themWe did not charge *** *** or the builder for fixing the wiring issuesThe units were running on auxillary heat but it would not have cost an additional $1,for difference in electrical costs for two months of run timeAlmost a year later (9/26/16) *** *** had us come out and wire up his thermostats that were part of his home automation systemThe low voltage company that he hired would not wire these up so he asked us to come out and install them for himThe thermostats that we originally installed were the proper thermostats for his heat pump units but he bought some different thermostats the following year and asked us to come out and wire them for himHe agreed to pay the $at the time of the installation so I'm a little confused as to why he is disputing this charge now.Bottom line: We try to take care of our customers and is why we fixed some of the original wiring problems for *** *** and the builder at no charge even though it was clearly stated on our contract with the builder that the wiring was not included in our bid

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: Hoff are crooks.  They finally came out to install the proper thermostats after a year and was not told of the bill until after installation.  Instead of making a seen I just paid the tech and tried to take it up with the office.  Yes, it did cost me an extra $1000.  Now they have called me a liar.  I can compare first winter to second winter and that's the difference.  Should never have done business with them.  Even before decided on geothermal the sales rep was a smart as when I would ask questions  They treat you like you are too dumb to understand.  Never do business with this company again.  For the amount of money we paid for this type of service is unacceptable.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

I feel bad that [redacted] had higher than expected electric bills for a couple of months but I do not feel that we are responsible for his electric usage. I am disappointed that [redacted] thought it was necessary to call us a crook. We've been in business for over 35 years and have one of the best reputations in the industry. We take pride in our customer service but evidently we have not met [redacted]s expectations. We were hired by [redacted]'s building contractor to install the HVAC for his new home. Our contract with the building contractor clearly stated that the wiring for the HVAC system was not included. Evidently the electrical contractor that was hired by the builder was not capable of wiring the HVAC systems so we (at no charge) helped them out by correcting the wiring issues. If we were crooks as stated by [redacted] we would not have had one of our technicians spend a day fixing the wiring issues that was not our responsibility and not part of our contract.[redacted] claims that we installed the wrong thermostats which is not true. We installed two Emerson 1F95-1291 thermostats which are compatible with the HVAC systems that we installed. A year later (9/26/2016) [redacted] bought different thermostats and asked us to come out and install them for him since the company that he bought them from would not wire them. I did not know that he expected us to do this additional work at no charge. There are certain things that are out of my control and electric costs is one of them. However I do have control on we charge for our services. If [redacted] truly believes (which I assume he does) that we should not have charged him for installing the thermostats that he bought elsewhere I will refund the $167.00 that he paid us.[redacted]

Hoff Heating contacted me and explained the situation with my complaint.  They have discussed a resolution to which I am agreeable and satisfied with.  I request that this complaint be closed at this time.

We have contacted Mr. [redacted] concerning his complaint and have yet to receive a response.   The actual component that needs replacing is the indoor evaporator coil that has a very small leak in the coil that our technician detected on a recent maintenance visit.   It is not looking at the...

outside air conditioner coil or anywhere around any connections as he states.      The indoor evaporator coil carried a 5 year warranty as is clearly stated on his signed proposal that is attached.   The coil is 7 years old and 2 years outside of the manufacturer's warranty.    Mr. [redacted] has contacted our service manager several times to discuss this situation.   Each discussion has been one way with Mr. [redacted] as his attitude & language has not allowed for any meaningful dialogue.   We understand Mr. [redacted]s is going through a tough personal time with his mother and have offered to do what we can to help.  However,  to this point we have yet to hear a response from Mr. [redacted] following our attempt to contact him again this past Wednesday.   Mr. [redacted]'s repair needed is strictly a mechanical problem with an evaporator coil that is 2 years out of warranty. Nonetheless,   we have offered to install the coil for just the approximate cost of the coil to help him out.  This would represent a huge discount and is only being offered because he has been a good customer over the years and we do want to help him out during these rough times for him.The air conditioner is cooling now as it has been charged up.   It is possible that we have not received a response from Mr. [redacted] because he has been busy attending to personal matters at this time.   However,  what we have offered is above and beyond what is reasonable as the evaporator coil that needs to be replaced is out of warranty and is 100% strictly a mechanical breakdown.   If and when Mr. [redacted]s can discuss this repair in a reasonable calm manner,  we will try again to work with him as offered.
