I do have a contract with this customer. The weather this summer has been extremely wet, in both June and July my company lost 10-working days due to weather.I spoke with him several times about schedules, and with the weather, we were running behind week after week. With no control over mother nature, my hands were tied.Their project was a special finisha stamped (Ashlar Slate) I purchased a set of stamps and color and release for their project. We did have many delays due to the weather, I even bumped them up in line, to try and help them out. They cancelled at the last minute, I got a emailwhich caused me to lose a days work, and also put me further behind on my schedule.I put in my contract for this specific reason, that their are no refunds for cancellingI had this happen before and learned my lesson. If they would like to re-schedule for late this fall, or early next spring, I will honor the contractThere will be no refunds.Thank You,Sincerely, [redacted] no refunds will be issuedSincerely,t with this customer [redacted]

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me Sincerely, [redacted]

I reached out to my customer this morning by phone, no answer, but left her a message.refund is scheduled for Friday july 15, 2016.thank yousincerely, [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: due to the delays we do not wish to pursue the full job originally agreed, however, we would be happy to bring this matter to a close if Hoffman can honor the contract to deliver only the work relating to removing and replacing the (8'x8'x4") section of the adjoining driveway as agreed with Hoffman's estimator, in return for up to and only for the deposit monies already paid to HoffmanPlease confirm Sincerely, [redacted]

I will agree to this with one condition, pouring something this small has a short load charge, so I will do it when I'm pouring another job in either chesterfield or wildwood when I get back out that way. thanks mark

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/12/22) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not have my refund check backHe has many reasons why it can't be returned promptly, the main one being that one of his subs wants days to return his own down paymentThis business does not seem to have a plan for cancellations either with customers or subsI will wait to see if they can get their act together
Final Business Response /* (1000, 32, 2016/03/10) */

I just read over my customers complaintsafter looking up my notes on this project, we were contacted for a bid to tear out his front porch sidewalk and steps, and sidewalk leading to the back of his property and a pad in the back as wellAfter several weeks my customer called and stated that he
wanted to move forward with only the front sidewalk, steps and porch, due to he had a notice from the city and was going to get fined if work was not completed quicklyWe did have some delays due to weatherSt Louis temps in the month of January and February were going up and downWe finally got a favorable couple of days to work the week of February 22- I actually moved my customer ahead of one project I had ahead of him to help his situation outSo work was scheduled, his project was removed and set up and gradedMy customer was present at that timeMy superintendent *** *** went over the set up of this project with my customerSince my customer did not elect to remove all the sidewalk on this project like originally bidBy leaving the sidewalk that was right next to the porch where the steps came down and met the new sidewalk, we were married to that grade since we were not removing the other sidewalkHe approved the set upconcrete was ordered and poured at amIn the winter months my company always adds a winter service to all our concrete mix, which includes hot water and 1% calcium chlorideBy adding this winter service concrete poured will generate its own heat the first night, which is necessary so that we don't have to place solar blankets on the concrete the first night, which eliminates scratching of the concreteWe always come back the next morning first thing and cover the project after the concrete has had time to set upWhich is exactly what happened *** *** came back first thing the next morning (6:am)After days we came back uncovered project and backfilled with top soilmy customer did not have my company seal his concretelater I did receive a email stating that my customer was not happy with one of his steps, I went out to meet him , but he didn't show upI took some pictures, and called him and talked about itI told him that it was not the best piece of concrete I have ever poured, but that it was so minor that I would not tear it out and replace it. We then came to a agreement that when he had me come back to finish the other half of the project I would remove the bad step for freeA revised contract was sent out and never returnedIn the end of July I received a voicemail stating he now wanted his front porch sidewalk and steps replaced for freeThen he would consider hiring me for the rest of the projectI told him that I would not do that, that he made the decision to only replace a bare minimum of his projectI offered a solution to the problem he never followed through by signing a revised contractI will not build any projects without an agreement in writing, so nothing was ever doneOn October 11,I received an email stating for me to be at my customers property by 5Pm or he was going to call the Revdex.comI showed up at 4:30pm and waited till after 5pm, I called him, sent him an email, He never showed up againI shut down a project I was working on to make sure I was at his meeting on time. I haven't heard from my customer again until today. I have tried to work with my customer, he has done nothing but run me around and waist my time. Sincerely, *** * ***

In response to *** *** complaint
first of all, the original reason for replacing the concrete was that Mr*** said he was
having water problems in his basementmy superintendent *** *** brought this to Mr*** attention right after it happenedthe yard drain was buried under groundit was completely covered with dirt
my company called in locates for utilitiesbut they don't locate yard drainsMr*** should have let my company know that a yard drain was present before we started digging
I would of had my crew, locate the drain before excavation even started, just as we do with all utilities to prevent any utility hits
*** *** my superintendent repaired the yard drain, and talked to Mr*** about everything that happenedabout a week went by, then I got the call that there was a problemI returned Mr*** phone callhe said he was going to have a plumber come out to look at it
I asked for the plumbers phone number , I received this informationI called the this number and spoke to a secretary, and left a message for the plumber to return my callI never received a return callI asked for copies of the bill, which Mr*** says he sent, but I never received anythingwe spoke again, I asked for Mr*** to resend the billI received the bill with a third bill attached that we never had spoken about
I feel like my company is being taken advantage of
it is unfortunate, and this could have been prevented with a little information from Mr***
I do not feel that this was my company's fault, my estimator *** *** always enquires about anything that might obstruct our digging when we bid a projectnothing was ever mentioned
sincerely, *** s ***

I have looked at the notes from *** *** and its stated that the cracks were from the handrails being installedHe stated that he called and spoke with you about it*** *** is no longer with my company and I have tried to contact him , with no successcould I ask a favor for a couple pictures of the problem Areai will get this resolved even though I do not think this was any fault of my company, im asking for 3-weeks to get the repair doneSincerely, *** s ***

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: The cracks occurred before installation of the rails I called Chris as soon as I saw the cracks He said he was very busy and he would check it out ASAP I don't know when that was because he never rang the doorbell or called me to let me know that he came to review the complaint When I finally talked with him, he said they would have to wait until Spring for any repairsMy husband is disabled and I could not wait until Spring to have the rails installed The cracks appeared in the area where the steps are connected at the crease on two steps I know that the cracks were there before installation of the rails No one responded to me on my property when the complaints were made They did keep telling me that they would take care of it That is why we registered the complaint The installer of the rails asked if I had made a complaint because he did not want them to put any blame on his installation I told him I called the company as soon as I saw the cracks which are surface cracks.
