Beware of Hoffmann Electrical!!! I just experienced some of the worst customer service everFrom the condescending manager Tom to the tech Steve that was literally on-site for minutesWhere do I begin?
It's simple really, I contacted Hoffman Electrical for assistance in locating the transformer to my doorbellI had already been dealing with and troubleshooting this issue myself so when I contacted them I knew EXACTLY what services I would needI explained to the young lady that took the phone call, Olivia I believe, in thorough detail how I've been working an issue with my doorbell and I already know what I needI explained to her that I couldn't find my transformer in order to stthe voltage to my Ring doorbell, so I needed a tech to come out and help me locate this transformer so we can fix the issueI was then told by her "it would be $to dispatch a tech to come out and look at itThe tech would then tell me the price of the service and the dispatch fee would be waived if I elected their services." Now I'm not mad at that, what I am steaming about, is that in the minutes the tech was here he gave me no new information or provided any kind of serviceMatter of fact, the only spot he even "looked" happened to be a place I suggestedAsides from that, he was quickly calling home base so they could notify me that to troubleshoot my issue it would be $What?! I'm sorry you couldn't have just told me this over the phone?? Per the manager Tom "we are up front pricingDid you look at our website?" Umm no sir I didntSo if it is upfront pricing why when I went into so much detail, and took the time to explain to your office admin about my issue, why was I not told about the the $379...upfront??? Or why did the tech Steve mention "Sorry, about this, it's been the 4th call like this for me this week." It's Wednesday folks
At the end of the day, they had the opportunity to earn my business or keep it, how ever you want to look at itBut they opted not toAll they simply had to do was listen to my concerns and work something out with meInstead I had a long and lengthy conversation with management who insistently kept repeating "We don't charge hourly we charge up front$dollars is what we charge to come out"Everything management said was being put on me, the customerA lot of expectations and assumptions regarding the pricing and servicesIt was assumed I understand their "upfront pricing" and I was expected to understand that all the tech would do is listen, to what I already gave in detail over the phone, in person....for $I'd do yourself a favor and find a company that understands the value of communication and great customer service, these guys are not them

They fixed the problem, but there was plenty bad - and others could have fixed it too. First they told me that I was getting a free estimate. Once Roger got there, he told me the estimate would cost me $88. He does not understand the concept of applying the $88 towards the cost if I accepted the estimate. After much back and forth, I finally understood that, in his mind, they remove the $88 and just charge for the repair, if I accept the estimate to repair it. Some difference, but he has only one way of seeing it. Next he did not do a full job of troubleshooting to give me an estimate. He would not look in the attic - somehow, to him, looking in the attic to see if the wires were marked so he might be able to pull a replacement wire through was doing the job. If he had looked, he would have learned that the wires ran under the house, but he wouldn't do it without charging more. He said the wall would have to come out to make the original lights work, so we decided on placing a ceiling light in a different location. I went to get a new light fixture. While gone, he finally looked in the attic and discovered that the wires ran under the house. He said he could make the original lights work - so I went to Home Depot and bought another fixture for nothing. He replaced the wire and got the lights working. He charged me for installing a new ceiling light even though he didn't do that. I wanted him to put in a light fixture - just hang it - in another apartment. He told me they charged $125 to do that - not electrical problems - just hanging a light fixture. Outrageous! So he said he would give me a break on that. I guess by not removing the pricing for hanging another fixture in the original apartment, he ended up charging me close to the $125. And - to top it off - he did not clean up after himself. He left the old wires lying around in the yard.

I will not use them again. Electricians are difficult - they charge a fortune - and these people nickel and dime you - because you need them and they can. I will keep searching for reasonable ones.
