Customer came in with a check engine light(Customer requested to replace timing chain, so it can pass emissions.) Diagnosed vehicle with an EGR codeFirst we attempted to update his computer system and test drove, check engine light came back onWe then tested the EGR valve and found it to be working accordingly, as well as the EGR solenoidWe then tested the PCM and found it not outputing correctly (Customer did not have vehicle tags.) We ordered a PCM and programmed it to his vehicle and test drove until monitors cleared and got an emissions test for him, so he could register his vehicleCustomer was notified via telephone and given the estimate, when he was told the price he agreedWe have a recording of his authorization for the repairs of his vehicle

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:Hogan's Automotive has price gouged me, charging me in excess for a service I never approved of. I never accepted or approved of any of the labor or parts Hogan's stated they replaced. Nor was I given an option to receive my "PCM". Hogan's never gave me an estimate for the "PCM", check engine light, or emissions testing . Instead I had to contact Hogan's Automotive to find out they replaced parts with out my authorization and proceeded to pass my car for emissions with out my approval . I would like them to show proof of this alleged "recording". I never requested to get my vehicle passed for emissions. My car was taken in because my check engine light was on. Hogan's was able to tamper with my vehicle to get my check engine light off. But a week later my check engine light turned on due to my vehicle needing a replacement EGR Valve, and remains on. I have a copy of the engine light EGR Valve code with time, date, and location site of the check engine light testing on my vehicle. I am requesting that I receive a refund for the waist of my time, effort, and money. Regards, [redacted] [To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, the consumer must give a reason why they are rejecting the response. To Whom It May Concern:I received the reply from you, from Hogan’s replyThis is all a lieHe did not give me a price for the air condition (that he did not fix) or how much the battery would costThis man is a liar and I’ll never do business with him againI have been taking the car to *** *** and it only cost $for a tune up not the outrages amount Hogan told me*** *** said they should have done a tune up with that new engineThis will never be resolved because I will never do business with this man againIf he would have told me how much more he was going to charge me I would have pick up the car and said don’t put a new battery (outrages price) and don’t service the air condition because he knew how much money I had to work with I just want this complaint to be recorded with you at the Revdex.com so others won’t do business with him either

We are so sorry that there were communication issues with our shopThe owner did call and leave a message stating that he would be out of the shop for about weeks, therefore our ASE Certified master technicians would assist in diagnosing his vehicleWhen our techs discovered that the
customers vehicle had aftermarket parts such as a supercharger, upgraded computer, and several aftermarket parts they could not properly diagnose the vehicle with our factory General Motors Computer systemThey suggested that this job could only be done by the owner because of its extreme complexityWhen the owner finally got back to the shop he was able to make sense of the complex issuesHe came in on the weekend and was able to get the supercharger working but the vehicle owner was not willing to give us more time to resolve the oxygen sensor circuit issuesThe vehicle owner was given the opportunity to take his vehicle for more than an hour for test driving before he paid usWhen the vehicle owner returned he was delighted that his truck had power and the supercharger worked! After talking to the customer about the repairs, he let us know that it had been to well known shops here in town and that they were not able to resolve his issuesWe are so sorry that it took so long on the repairsOur techs would have repaired his truck in no more than to days if it was a stalk system, but being it was altered with an aftermarket supercharger and various other aftermarket parts our certified techs could not properly diagnose the truckThe only person here in Albuquerque that is able to do the complex programming and diagnosis is MrH***If the customer is having issues or wants more work done on his truck we would be more than happy to help him correct any issues he might be havingMrH*** is willing to do what ever it takes to make a customer happy!!!!

This customer is a person that avoids the proper maintenance of a motor vehicleShe avoided changing the timing belt at the suggested mileage and ruined her engine because the timing belt brokeI could tell that she basically avoids taking care of her car by the condition of the original tune
up parts still in the car and the mileage on the odometer
She called for an estimate for an engine rebuild and that she was a friend of a friendI installed a reman engine in her vehicle for $in labor and $1,for the engineAfter we got the car running with the reman engine the car had a check engine lightThe check engine light was indicating sensors that were defective and one of them being a fuel gauge circuitThe customer had previously told me that the air condition was not working and that the fuel gauge was not reading the fuel level correctlyShe had also stated that the car was jerking and she was told that the car also had a defective fuel pumpI connected the vehicle to the General Motors TechDiagnostic System and could tell that the vehicle was in dire need of updates for the computer system and could read misfires in the ignition system indicating it also needs a major tune upI immediately called her and let her know of these failures in the car and she stated, "I DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY FOR THOSE REPAIRS." I told her that she needed a tune up as soon as possible because it could compromise the engine in the long runAgain she stated, "I DON'T HAVE ANY MORE MONEY." I then told her that the car would not be drivableShe then asked me how much for the air conditioning, fuel pump and a battery(Battery was no good after sitting for months.) I told her that the air conditioning needed to be serviced and that would be $and it would include Freon, oil and florescent dye to detect leaksI stated that I would not charge her to find the leakThen I stated to her that I would not charge her any additional labor and that she would only be charged for the fuel pump and NO laborI strongly advised to put a good battery in her car because automotive electrical systems in vehicles are very delicate and need a good battery to function correctlyShe then agreed
On the day she came to pick up the car she stated she did not have all the money for the repairs and asked me if she could make paymentsI said NO! She got very angry and called someone to pay the bill with their credit cardAfter the bill was paid, I again told her that the car needed a tune up which included spark plugs, spark plug wires, hose, and fuel filter and other maintenance for the vehicleShe said she would bring it back for a tune up at a later date
On March 3, at about 6:10pm after work hours she left a message stating that her car was jerking and not running correctlyThis was a month after she picked up the car and by this time she still had not given the car a tune up! (I attached the voice recording so that she did acknowledge that her car needed a tune up prior to her taking the car.) Up until this time she had not brought in the car for a check up which totally voids a warranty. I stated to the customer that I needed to inspect the car for leaks and to connect the vehicle to the GM diagnostic system in about a weekShe has not brought it back for the check up
This customer does not obey maintenance procedures stated by the manufacturerI let her have the fuel pump labor free and was willing to find the AC leak at no charge and instead she gets angry with me because of her neglect and ability to maintain her vehicle

I called customer and offered him a partial refund and customer agreedLet him know I was very sorry for his vehicle failing and told him that intermittent issues are
extremely difficult to pinpointAgain I offered him a refund and he agreed
