We are the booker on Mr***' move Due to the distance, however, we could not actually haul the shipment This means the shipment was released to Unigroup(the parent company of United and Mayflower Van Lines) to find a driver to load and haul the shipmentMr*** was aware that
we would only be packing the shipment and another agency's driver would be hauling Unigroup assigned a driver and the day before loading he called our local operations to let them know he would be at Mr***' residence the next morning to load At around noon the next day we found out, in fact, he decided for some reason not to show up at Mr***' residence We were never informed of this by the driver or his agency At this point we got Unigroup involved because this is not proper procedure Due to the lateness of the day we arranged with Mr*** to have one of our local crews pick up his household goods the next day and bring them back to our warehouse for another driver to load It was our understanding from talking with Unigroup that the original driver would be at our warehouse within a day or so to load this shipment, however from some reason the shipment was removed from him and assigned to another agency's driver A day later we were informed by Unigroup that driver would not have room and they would have to find another driver to haul the shipment Unfortunately, this time of the year is the peak time for the moving industry and drivers and space are very difficult to secure The Unigroup planners worked diligently to try and find a driver and eventually found one that had room for the shipment and had a trip going to Oregon We understand Mr***' frustration and we are extremely sorry that these series of events occurred This was a very unusual situation and far from the norm Do to our releasing of the shipment to Unigroup our control was very limited I do feel our agency worked very hard to get the shipment picked up after everyone was blindsided by the original driver not showing up at residence as promised We strongly voiced our complaints to Unigroup about both the driver and his agency's lack of communication and we feel disciplinary action will be taken Mr***' has the right to file a claim through Unigroup in order to be properly compensated for his inconvenience and we strongly encourage him to do so We thank him for his business and we again are extremely sorry for how his moving experience with United turned out
