Holiday Inn Express - Rehoboth Beach

Review: We reserved a family trip to the beach at the HIE but needed to cancel due to a medical issue with a member of our party who has a serious concussion. Prior to our trip, we consulted a doctor to get clearance for her to go to the beach but the doctor said she could not travel. We contacted the hotel from the doctor's office and gave notice 48 hours in advance. The hotel is still charging us for the deposit because it has a 72 hour advance notice policy and it refuses to grant an exception, even in cases where a doctor's note can be provided, something that we offered to do. The hotel insists on imposing the 72 hour requirement unless there has been a death. The hotel has offered to use our deposit for another visit but at this point we do not wish to use this hotel in the future.Desired Settlement: Refund of our deposit on our credit card.

Review: Originally scheduled to stay at Holiday Inn Express Bethany Beach DE (reservation via [redacted] website) for Saturday 28 June 2014 with the option to cancel the reservation. On arrival to hotel they had bumped our reservation due to a wedding, and had scheduled our arrival for Monday 30 June 2014. The Holiday Inn Express Bethany Beach put us in touch with the Holiday Inn Express Rehobeth Beach DE to see if they had availability. Holiday Inn Express Rehobeth Beach DE had availability but for a much more expensive rate than what we had booked through [redacted] website, and reluctantly we made a reservation on Sat 28 June 2014 to stay for 2 nights. Fifteen minutes later we changed our mind and decided to go back home- our original booking was for family friendly Bethany Beach, not party city Rehobeth Beach and we decided we did not want to deal with rowdy drunk college kids and pay close to $1K to stay for the weekend. We called Holiday Inn 800 Number to cancel our reservation, the customer service representative stated our reservation would be cancelled and there would be no penalty. Checked our credit card account statement on 12 July 2014 and Holiday Inn Express Rehobeth Beach charged us $377.95 even though the customer service representative stated there would be no charge and we did not even stay at the hotel!

We called the hotel to have the charges reversed and the hotel manager refuses to reverse the charges even though we did not stay at the hotel!Desired Settlement: Desire a refund of $377.95
