Answer to complaint #*** Please let me assure you that the dryer never caught on fireIf it would have it would have set off our sprinkler system and notified the fire departmentAll newer dryers (which ours are) have what is called a Thermister built into themThis unit will not allow the
temperature to go above a certain point, which is set at the factoryIf it does, it will automatically shut downIf it is not working it will nt let the dryer startWe have signs posted that we are not responsible for customers clothes unless they use our wash and fold serviceApparently this gentleman came in and did not wash his items but just put them in the dryer and left the premisesHe did not return for approximately two and a half hoursWhen he did return, he immediately started complaining the dryer must have caught on fire and burned his clothesI think that if a dryer would have been on fire customers and the attendant would have noticed it and there would have been other repercussions, which I stated before Only I as the owner, Al L***, can offer a refund, and I have never offered any refund to this gentlemanI am including pictures of these items that he said caught on fire, as you can see it appears that these items were singed with cigarette buns or something else, because an item on fire will blacken and bum all over. Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.#1 The owner claimed the dryer has safeties that prevent fires. Dryers are machines. Machines break down. Invalid point by owner.#2. The dryer had a hole in the rotation cylinder. I believe the sheets or backbrace may have gotten caught in that hole, subjecting the material to the continuous heat of the metal, thus catching on fire. When the fire burned off the piece of sheet that was caught, it released the material the fire tumbled out.#3. It is true I didn't wash the items. I deposited $1.50 into the dryer which gave me 8 minutes of drying time per quarter. That means my clothes were in the dryer for 48 minutes. I wasn't gone for 2 and 1/2 hours, but even if I was, so what? If I was gone for 5 hours or 5 days the clothes were still only in dried for 48 minutes.     I actually use a timer when I do laundry so I return to the laundromat within 5 minute before or after my loads are done. In this case, the load was finished when I returned. Not sure what the owner's point was about my return time as that seems irrelevant. The load was done in 48 minutes.#4. When I returned to pick up my laundry, I immediately commented to the attendant that something smelled like it was burning. She agreed. This was before I opened up the dryer or looked at my laundry. Upon inspection I thought my laundry was OK, but because of the odor, I looked closer and found the damage.     At this point I addressed the attendant, who suggested I leave the items with her so she could take up the matter with the owner. She also inspected the damage. I left her the sheets and backbrace, but I took the shorts and t-shirt home with me. I left my Phone number with her. I said some of the items were older and $20 compensation would suffice.#5 Two weeks later after not hearing back from them, I stopped by to see if any decision had been made. Apparently my phone number was written down incorrectly, thus the reason I wasn't contacted. With the correct phone number given, the attendant contacted me the next day.     She said the owner claimed it wasn't their fault based on the equipment's safeties, but offered me the $1.50 it cost to pay for the load to dry.  I stood at $20. After a series of calls on 10/16/2015, the attendant said the owner would compensate me for $10. I told her I refused and said I'd go to organizations like the Revdex.com and explore other options like Small Claims Court to recover my loses.     Later that day the attendant called back and said the owner withdrew his offer. I'd be happy to dredge up phone records to prove there were a series of calls regarding negotiations, which the owners claimed never happened. After that call I contacted the Revdex.com.#6 The owner's claim that the damage is cigarette burns is unfounded. I don't smoke, nor have I ever smoked cigarettes. I don't smoke any other substances either like cigars or marijuana. Furthermore, I live alone and have zero visitors with the exception of visiting relatives from out of state a couple of times a year at best. None of them smoke either. There is no possible way that laundry caught on fire on my end.#7 Finally, if the owner thinks I'm out to sue them for big money, let me assure them that I am not. I have never sued anyone in my life and don't plan to over this. I don't need the money. However, I believe I should be compensated reasonably for damage which was not my fault. Sincerely,[redacted]

Review: $100 worth of laundry caught on fire. It was ruined. Owner claimed it wasn't their fault. How couldn't it be their fault? It caught on fire in their dryer. At first they offered me $1.50 as compensation (the amount of money I put in the dryer). I thought I was reasonable by only asking for $20. They countered with $10, which I refused. $20 was not an unreasonable amount for $100 worth of laundry I lost plus the time it will take me to buy new stuff.LOST ITEMS$30-40 full size bed sheets$20 backbrace$30 shirt$15 shortsDesired Settlement: I'd like a $100 refund.

Response:

Answer to complaint #[redacted] Please let me assure you that the dryer never caught on fire. If it would have it would have set off our sprinkler system and notified the fire department. All newer dryers (which ours are) have what is called a Thermister built into them. This unit will not allow the temperature to go above a certain point, which is set at the factory. If it does, it will automatically shut down. If it is not working it will nt let the dryer start. We have signs posted that we are not responsible for customers clothes unless they use our wash and fold service. Apparently this gentleman came in and did not wash his items but just put them in the dryer and left the premises. He did not return for approximately two and a half hours. When he did return, he immediately started complaining the dryer must have caught on fire and burned his clothes. I think that if a dryer would have been on fire customers and the attendant would have noticed it and there would have been other repercussions, which I stated before. Only I as the owner, Al L[redacted], can offer a refund, and I have never offered any refund to this gentleman. I am including pictures of these items that he said caught on fire, as you can see it appears that these items were singed with cigarette buns or something else, because an item on fire will blacken and bum all over.
