Holiday Retirement Reviews (%countItem)

I was a renter in Strongsville. These are independent apartments, and they kept going into my apartment and looking through it without giving me any notice. I didn’t have a chance to secure paper work or personal belonging or jewelry. This happened on several occasions over a few weeks. The only way I knew was that my daughter had a Nest and Canary security camera in my room. We would leave the apartment, and their management staff would come right in. Very disturbing.

The only people doing their jobs are the sales people. We were totally sold on this facility in Greenville, SC. However, the first 3 weeks Mom was there they were on lockdown for the flu. Next, the kitchen/dining staff walked out. The chef was fired ( food was disgusting). The housekeeping staff didn't clean and were eventually replaced. The transportation person quit and wasn't replaced for a month. Therefore, I had to take off from work to get Mom to appointments. The activities person quit so...no activities. We paid a fee of $2800.00 for these services! Mom only lived there for 10 weeks and went into the hospital and died in hospice 2 weeks later. The day she went into the hospital we were told that she had days to live so we went to the manager and gave 30 days notice. The first of the next month I asked the manager what was owed and paid it . We turned in the keys a week early. Two months later I received a bill for $500.00 and was told that she wasn't dead when we gave notice so we owed for 30 days after her death??? I think they owe us for all the services they promised and didn't provide. Stay away from Westminister/ Holiday Retirement! I have never reported a business before but the way they treat those they are supposed to help is unconscionable.

Without my permission Holiday retirement withdrew $1,000.00 from my mothers
bank account. Although she owed them that for moving to a smaller Studio. (Go figure that one?) Its been three months since this happened. I was not informed in any way this was to happen. They said they were going to at least credit me $200.00 dollars for the inconvienence. Not happened! Interesting note is they don't return my calls. I got a copy of an email from Patrice Morrow she send to
Pearl Crossings in Strongsville, Ohio. It was stated that my account would be
credited $200.00, its never happened. Who knows what other sneaky tricks they
do to the elderly who doesn't have a family member look at their checking and savings?

I have had 2 people living in different Holiday Retirements homes during the past 3 years. Holiday changed their management philosophy and is no longer client focused. They do not have anyone on site from 7 pm - 7 am. They took additional funds from my friend when she moved out and will not refund them. After many phone calls they no longer respond. *** in Denver has had 3 management changes with almost complete staff changes in the last 18 months. I started with a positive experience and with the many changes would no longer recommend this company to any one. There are many options in Denver, I would look beyond a Holiday Retirement community.

Wish we had seen all the reviews before we spent the time and money to move into *** in Michigan. The staff was friendly was to be indepentent living - far from it memory problems abound. A couple of folks had to be fed, dining was a long drawn out affair taking about 2 hours for each meal. Meals were fair too much salt, rice, dark green veggies. Cooking for seniors is a bit different than the young folks. When ask if the menu could be changed and not so many green veggies but use corn, beets, yellow beans the answer was "We are working on it or we have to follow home office menus" In the eight months we resided the only postative thing I can say is the apartment was very nice even if there wasn't a kitchen. We spent 38,000 that we may as well thrown out the window. So sad it wasn't what was sold to us - the salesman should be fired lies like a rug tells you there will be internet thru the building, the dining is changing etc, etc never came close to happening.

The company is more about money then elder care and tenants. Some tenants get less amenities because others need more. The food is awful, uses lots spices and fatty foods. Doesn't make tenants comfortable. Wait times to eat is 1 1/2 hours because they let people sit and gab after their done. Ant problem. Carpets are bad. Rent will go up at least $150 every year. Residents pay more for condos but dont have very good treatment.
