Today I spoke to [redacted], where I took my Grand Prix to have a recall issue fixed shortly after I bought the car from Hollidaysburg Auto Plaza. I spoke to a man named [redacted] in the service department. After explaining the issues I am having with my Grand Prix and informing him that they are the ones who discovered the rack and pinion leak during the unrelated recall fix, I was told that this issue is a safety concern for the car.
I am rejecting Hollidaysburg Auto Plaza's response because they sold me a car with a safety issue that I was not informed of when I purchased the Grand Prix from there.

I purchased a vehicle in early Feburary. I was told that it was a really good car. They broke the windshield while scraping ice off and said they would replace it and the also were going to replace a rear window that was working. I was sent to their "garage" and the rear window was replaced. I was given the run around by the man that was supposed to replace my windshield(which was cracking more everyday). He never answered his phone or returned my calls. Eventually I had it replaced myself( at the end of March!)and just ate the cost because they weren't going to reimburse me for what I paid, they would give me almost half because "that's all my guy charges me" and I was beyond tired of the drama. The entire time I dealt with their "garage", I told them about noises it was making and a slight shudder. They avoided it, telling nothing was wrong and they didn't hear anything. The last time I saw them, they told that they wouldn't bother looking at it because they weren't sure who would really pay for it. So they lied to me each time. Now I haven't had my car for almost two weeks while its having the entire rear end replaced(covered under the warranty that they sold me). And after a call from my mechanic today, they told me that the front end also needs replaced and I have to wait for an inspector from the warranty company before they will take care of that. This car and this business has been nothing but a headache. It hasn't even been 3 months!

Review: In February I purchased a car from Hollidaysburg auto plaza. I was looking for something inexpensive that ran well. I had $2000 from my income tax return. They said they had a Subaru outback that they had just go in that they could sell for that price. [redacted] the salesman said it was a 2002 and that's what it said on their key tag. Later right before we bought it we were told it was actually a model year 2000. They said they had the car at another location and they would bring it there the next morning if we were interested. We said would like to see it. The next morning we went there and it wasn't there, they said they thought we would call if we wanted to see it. They told us where it was at so we drove to [redacted] to look at it. It was parked on a sheet of ice. They said they had changed the oil and showed us around the car showing some rust spots and dent in the back hatch. The interior was rough and I figured that, the dent and the rust was why they were selling it at that price since it would take quite a bit to fix it up for the lot. We took it for a ride and it seemed to drive fine. We decided to get it, so we drove it back to hollidaysburg. The one guy setting at the desk said it was a good car they would want $2999 for it off the lot. [redacted] the guy we were dealing with told us he could $4999 for it off the lot. [redacted] kept saying it was a 2002 outback, but they guy filling out the papers said it was a 2000 it seemed a little strange but as long it was a good running car. I paid for the car, went and paid for the insurance and when I got it home someone said it was leaking underneath. We thought maybe they hadn't tightened the oil plug since they just changed the oil. It wasn't that, we called them and they asked if we had it looked at. So we took it to a local garage which said it had a leaking valve cover gasket and that the heads were leaking. We took the car back when they were open again and they really acted like they didn't want to help us. Finally one guy asked if I could drive a stick, which I can't, because someone had just traded in a car that was a manual that they would substitute for the subaru. Since I didn't they said they would wait and see if someone would trade something else that was around the same value. We kept calling but they said they didn't get anything, but would keep looking. Then after keeping oil in it, about a quart a day it shut off on me on the way home from work. I got it started and made it home. My boy friend went to take it up the hill to check it out and it shut off on him and made a grinding noise in the engine. It would start but not run, he had to coast it back down the hill to park it. We went to the dealer again and he suggested we take it to a garage he used to find out what was wrong. He gave us the number for [redacted] auto repair. We called them and they had someone pick it up and take it there. After a week or two they got back to us and said the bottom of the engine was shot. It would need a new engine. After that we haven't been able to get a hold of [redacted]. My boyfriend tried to call, the first couple times was told he had to speak to [redacted] and that he had just left. Next time he didn't come in because of the snow, the next time he wasn't in because he was sick. After that their phone always went to voice mail. When my boy friend stopped in a couple of times they said he just missed him. He figured they were avoiding him so the next time he parked next door at [redacted] and walked in. There was no one in the office, he waited 10 minutes, he could hear people in the back. Finally he decided to call them and when he did his name was announce over the phone from caller ID and no one picked up, it went to voice mail. So he left knowing he was being avoided. I was letting him try to take care of this for me, I was pretty upset, I work a $8 an hour job that doesn't always have work for me. My youngest daughter and her son lives with me. I am not very good at these kind of things. I wrecked my car last summer and have been waiting for my income tax return to buy something to drive to work and medical appointments. I've had to rely on other for help since my wreck. I don't feel business should be able to operate this way. The car was bought as is, but they didn't mention anything that was wrong with the engine. They changed oil in it for some reason, if they hadn't done that maybe we could have seen by the oil that there was a problem. They said it would be a good running car for us. At first they acted like they were going to help us but kept putting us off like they were killing time just hoping we would go away. Right now their garage has our car and they have our $2000. I have to still find rides to work paying people to take me if I can find anyone. My boy friend takes me when he can. This just isn't right. I either should have a car that runs or my money back.Desired Settlement: I would like my money refunded and they take the car back. I don't know how comfortable I would feel getting another car from someone who does business like this. But, another vehicle that would get me to work and back and around the city of [redacted] would also be okay. If I get my money back I will have to look for another car anyway.

Review: Bought a Pontiac Grand Prix from Hollidaysburg Auto Plaza. Was told about no problems with the the car.Within a week, I found out that a part was recalled so I took it to a Pontiac dealership to have it repaired for free. Upon pick up of my car, the Pontiac Dealership told me that Rack and Pinion Assembly would need replaced due to it leaking. Also, both Front Sway Bars need replaced due to the control arm bushings being excessively worn/loose. Repairs for these issues were quoted at $820.00 by Fiore Buick Pontiac GMC of Altoona Pennsylvania. When confronted about these problems, Hollidaysburg Auto Plaza said they would not pay to fix these issues because the car was bought "As Is."I was never once told about these problems with the car before I bought it not even a month ago. I can not afford these repairs and would not have bought this car if I knew about them.Desired Settlement: I would like Hollidaysburg Auto Plaza to buy the parts that need replaced on my Pontiac Grand Prix and to pay for the labor at garage of my choosing.
