Holly Hill Memorial Park Reviews (1)

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 13, 2015/06/29) */
We have reviewed this situation. Grass seed was sown on the grave after the burial, but it did not grow and hold. We routinely use grass seed and not sod. We always have a few places that require additional measures for grass growth and have...

continued to rework areas with more than 9,500 people buried here. The sod is in place and being watered daily during this extremely hot weather. Regarding the memorial; we did sell the customer the required memorial pretty darn close to our cost to try and please her and her family. She chose to make payments instead of paying for it in full as she had for the improper memorial purchased elsewhere. She was refunded the other money, but chose to make payments instead. We have ordered her memorial in anticipation of final payment. We do not "rob" graves at Holly Hill. We are continually having to remove personal items from burial sites because they interfere with the care, maintenance and upkeep of the cemetery. Our grass is mowed every week (this is easily verified) and when the equipment sucks up these personal trinkets they become dangerous projectiles. We will continue to maintain the cemetery in accordance with the best practices of dignity and safety. Should the customer desire some other resolution to her unmet expectations of the cemetery, we will be glad to sit down with her and try to determine the best route for she and her family to find future satisfaction here or at another cemetery. Again, we have not singled her, or her family, out for any harassment at all. Quite the contrary, we go about our work and do all that we can to avoid the family so as not to appear to be aggravating the situation in any way at all. We wish nothing but rest and peace for them.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 15, 2015/07/02) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Holly Hill has done nothing but take advantage of me and harass me for taking action against them. On date of February 10, 2014, the day my husband passed away, Holly Hill informed me they were charging me more because it was "Time of Need". See the cost difference below for what the cost for his interment space, perpetual care, and interment fees compared to mine.
Feb. 10, 2014
Holly Hill charged me a "Time of need" for my husband as follows:
1-intermet space: $1,636.36
Perpetual care: $163.64
Vault: $800.00
Interment fees: $995.00
TOTAL: $2,795.00
Mine:
Interment space: $800.00
Perpetual care: $100
Documentation: $105.00
TOTAL: $1,005.00

I went back to Holly Hill and asked the secretary that was working at the time ([redacted]) if I could order the memorial from [redacted] since it was less than half the cost as their memorial and the secretary said yes I could order it from [redacted] After paying for the memorial at [redacted] I was told by "[redacted]" at Holly Hill that I could not order from [redacted] and that I had to order from Holly Hill.

My daughter and her husband went to Holly Hill with me to try to talk to [redacted] and [redacted] about the plot and memorial I wanted from [redacted]. [redacted] yelled at my daughter during the discussion "she's already signed this document".
Over the next several weeks called another cemetery in High Point called [redacted] and they said they don't have a "time of need" cost. I talked to [redacted] 2 and they said they have never heard of a "time of need" as well. I felt taken advantage of as a grieving widow.
[redacted], the owner of the facility told me that she was reducing the price of the memorial and giving me $500 back on my husband's grave ( I still have [redacted]'s voice message on my phone!) When I came up their the receipt they gave me was only for $300 back and the refunded money was placed toward the memorial cost.
Clearly you can see from the price differences that I was way overcharged by these people! I would like other people to be aware of their scam on grieving and vulnerable families! Holly Hill also never answered the question of why they keep taking the temporary marker away and leaving me with no way to find my husband's grave! I want others to see this and know how they treat people!
