Review: The school took loans out in my name without there being a reason for applying for student loans. The pell grant and work comp more than covered costs

I enrolled in the esthetic's program May 6th, XXXXX. The cost of the program is $9,279.00. My work comp sent a check June 20th in the amount of $8,000. I also recieved a pell grant in the amount od $3,215.00. I should have received a refund for $1,935.50, so I could apply this money for school supplies, pre app for state board, etc. I find out in June that the school also recieved money from the 2 student loans they applied for in my name. I also found out that the $8,000 check from work comp was cashed and not credited to my student account. During this time period, the admissions director and finacial aid person and the acting director [redacted] were all fired. It was [redacted] that cashed the check. Since then the school has gone thru 2 additional admission director's and 3 fiancial aid staff. I have gone over this issue with the schools owner Ms [redacted] and her director [redacted], in addition to all the new fiancial aid people. As of today nothing has been resolved. I will be graduating the end of this month and I want all the money issues and student loans paid back. I do not trust the school to allow this to continue after I graduate. I am not the only student that has had problems with the way the school conducts financial aid. I have waited over 2 months for some sort of resolution to ocurr.Desired Settlement: I want payment for the student loans the school recieved in my name so I can make sure they are paid back, I want the balance of my pell grant refunded to me and I want proof that the money they recieved from my work comp has been credited to my school account. I need this to be done before I graduate October 1st.

Review: I started attending this school for their cosmetology program on June 11, 2012. The instructor that I had was more interested in doing her own personal clients' hair than trying to instruct the students. I ended up switching from evening classes to regular day time classes. Things were definitely starting to improve and I began to enjoy going to school again. Unfortunately, a personal issue arose and I was no longer able to attend school. I withdrew from the school January 24, 2013. I was told by the Director of Admissions ([redacted]) and the Financial Aid Adviser to wait 2-4 weeks after withdrawing to receive my proof of hours completed - something I need in order to re-enroll at any beauty college and pick up where I left off. Two months passed and I hadn't received anything so I gave the school a call and the front desk clerk said the director would return my call. Three weeks passed and I decided to go to the school on a day that I knew the director normally works. This time, the front desk clerk rudely told me that the director "obviously hasn't had the time" to return my call. I attempted to call and go in to this school on several different occasions and each time I'm blown off. Now that the school has completely new staff, I'm beginning to wonder if they've purged student records and there's no proof that I even went there, other than my $5500 in student loans. All I want from them is my proof of hours so that I can continue my education from where I left off, and not have to start all over. This school is by far the most unorganized and unprofessional establishment I have ever seen and experienced.Desired Settlement: I would like the school to issue my proof of hours immediately. I would also like the school to issue a partial, if not full refund to my student loan lender seeing as they took out the whole loan amount even though I did not finish the program entirely.

Response:

I had filed a complaint with Revdex.com in May of 2014 regarding my proof of hours and the professionalism, or lack thereof, with this establishment. My settlement request was for the school to produce my proof of hours and to issue a partial, if not complete refund on my student loans for not providing an education that I was supposed to be receiving. I was almost immediately contacted by the current Financial Adviser there who advised me that I could pick up my proof of hours at a predetermined date and time and that a partial refund of $1,558.00 was issued to my student loans. To start off, when I went to pick up my proof of hours at the date and time that we agreed upon, this "professional" showed up a half hour late and the front desk receptionist wasn't even told the purpose of my presence. So I sat there unaware if I was being flaked out on. Finally after getting my proof of hours, I was also given a printout of my notice of refund, which I was also emailed. A month later, I did not see any refund reflected on my loans. I sent the Financial Adviser, Ms. [redacted], an email on June 26 requesting an update and received no response. July 13, I sent another email and again no response. I contacted my student loan lender who advised there was no refund issued or in the process of being issued. I sent my third and final email to Ms. [redacted] attaching the email from my lender that was stating there was no refund on July 18. I don't expect any response this time either. I honestly believe that this school has no purpose in being in business. This is just a money pit for unsuspecting victims. This "business" needs to honor their word and issue the refund that they stated would be made on my student loans. Like I stated in my third and final email to Ms. [redacted], I will be forced to make this a legal matter if I do not receive my refund.

Review: After attending this school since November 2013 and accumulating 818.25 hours I am being told that I have to pay the school $1639 (roughly $1700) to be given my proof of training. Once I dropped Hollywood Beauty College and transferred to [redacted]&[redacted] the owner as well as the financial aid administrator are telling me this..but the owner advised me I could stay and complete school there and receive my proof of training. I no longer want to attend Hollywood Beauty College because I wasn't provided with a professional teacher after the first 3 months of attending the school. I brought my concerns to the owner Ms. [redacted] and she always advised me that she was looking for a "really good" teacher to just be patient. That never happened. Staff has walked out while class was in session. I was charged for items that I never received in my kit. (ex: *makeup kit* ) Water has been shut off and at times we did not have the products needed to service our walk in clients. The school is in extremely bad shape and the only thing they're worried about is collecting your financial aid and loans.Desired Settlement: I would like to be given my proof of training for my 818.25 hours and for my so called debt to be cleared from Hollywood Beauty College. I would like to leave this whole bad experience behind me and move on.

Hollywood Beauty College

Review: I graduated Hollywood beauty College and has since passed state board and paid my dues I worked in California and now moved to Rhode Island I have applied for an out of state license to work as a cosmetologist in Rhode Island. I was given a temporary license to work here for 3 month pending an official transcript from Hollywood Beauty college. For the past three months I have been back and forth with the admission director [redacted] and [redacted] in regards to my transcript being sent to the Department of Health here in Rhode Island. The staff told me they would call me back and I was told I owed money to the school and there fore they cannot send a transcript over here to Rhode Island. If I owe money first of all I wouldn't be able to graduate or take a test to get my license for the State of California. My temporary license in Rhode Island will expire on March 3 2014. Which means I can't work and would have to leave my new job. Also they have been giving me the run around about this and also in regards to a student loan they took out and never returned once I left the school within the proper drop date for a separate program I signed up for but dropped the glass after 3 days due to the fAct that I was told that The cosmetology license that I have was valid to do Aesthetic work. On the contract I was gold I have 10 days to drop the program. I live 3000 miles away and cannot be there to speak with a staff member to get the proof I need to get my license here in Rhode Island. I'm at my wits end.Desired Settlement: I would like a certified copy of my transcript for cosmetology sent to the department of health in Rhode Island and I would like Hollywood Beauty college to return a loan that was taken out through Fed Loan on March 2 2012 in the amounts of $828 be returned to Stafford Loan
