Eight years ago we had the GutterPro put on our houseWe encountered one problem with birds getting under the shield in a corner of the gutterKC showed up immediately and corrected the issueWe were impressed with the level of professionalism with all involved, so naturally we went with them in replacing our old roofEveryone involved in this process, from the owner, to the office staff, and the workers, eased any concerns we may have hadThe crew worked tirelessly from the rip and tear to the conclusion of the new roofThe entire area was picked up and no debris was left behindI will definitely recommend KC Construction to anybody looking for home improvement services

Dear Ms***, I am writing in response to the complaint the Revdex.com received from Mr*** *** ***. Mr*** signed a contract with one of our estimators on April 29, 2015. The contract states that we would install 120’ of aluminum
fascia cover, not replace the entire wood fascia. When the installers arrived at his residence to do the job, Mr*** told them they were supposed to replace the entire wood fascia and then cover it with aluminum fascia. The installers called me to find out what they should do. I called Mr*** and explained that the contract and pricing was for 120’ of aluminum fascia. We put new aluminum covering over the existing fascia. He said he thought the contract was for all new wood fascia and new aluminum fascia. I explained again what the contract states and offered to clean his gutters for him and replace 14’ of rotten fascia at no charge. Also at that time, I gave him three options: I would return his deposit and cancel the contract; I would replace the wood fascia at an additional cost of $3,but explained that this did not need to be done; he could go ahead with the job as contracted. Mr*** agreed to go ahead with the job as contracted. The job Mr*** agreed to is the job we completed, covering 120’ of aluminum fascia. In addition, we cleaned his gutters, inside and out, and replaced 14’ of fascia at no chargeI did not hear anything else from Mr*** until I received your email regarding his complaint. The price quoted to Mr*** was fair according to industry standards, I gave him an option to cancel the contract and have his full deposit returned, and I agreed to additional work at no charge to Mr***. I believe we have acted fairly in this situation Sincerely, *** ***, President KC Construction

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.  Regards,
[redacted]

Dear Ms. [redacted],

I am writing
in response to the Revdex.com complaint #[redacted].
I responded to the original complaint on 5/26/15 through email, and am wondering if you received it.  I am attaching it to this message in case you didn't.

In my
response on 5/26/15, we addressed the issue that this client has.  We did the work according to the contract and
charged him the price according to the contract.  The price was fair given the scope of work
that I detailed with him on the phone, and is in the contract.  During our conversation, I gave him the
option of cancelling the contract if he did not agree with the scope of work we
discussed or the price.  That gave him
the opportunity to get out of the contract and have his full payment
refunded.  He chose to move ahead with
the job that we discussed and the price we discussed.  If he thought the price was too high, he
should have cancelled the contract instead of going forward with it.  I have done all that I can do given the
situation.

Sincerely,
[redacted]
President,
KC Construction

To whom it may concern,  I understand that Ms. [redacted] is not happy with our response to her complaint and that she feels we should be responsible for damage caused to her home by weather related conditions. Unfortunately, I think we are at an impasse with this situation.  Each time that Ms. [redacted] called for service, we responded by going to her home to look at her situation.  We cleared ice and snow from her roof free of charge twice and we replaced the ridge vent that was damaged by a storm, free of charge.  These are things we were not required to do, but did in order to provide good customer service.  We explained, on two seperate occasions, that not clearing snow and ice from her roof caused this problem, not our product or workmanship. I regret that Ms. [redacted] is not satisfied with our decision, but I feel any obligation we have to her has been exceeded.    Sincerely,  [redacted] President, KC Construction

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Regards,
[redacted]
I will stop down and pay the $1,500.00 owed for the install. At which time KC will order the replacement slider and 2 sashes . Please confirm .Thank you ,

I reviewed the businesses response.  I know what I heard.  Okay, I didn't get the name right on the original contract whether it was [redacted] or [redacted]. But I KNOW what I heard. Mr. [redacted] did tell me that "every one's roof leaks this time of year".  I was also told that the problem came from not having heat in the closet. I had my daughter here when the worker showed up and told me this.  They knew I had a low pitched roof and as a result should have adjusted accordingly upon the initial installation.  Now that they did adjust for it, I have had no problem. If, as they said they have been in the business for 29 years, I can't believe they have never run into this situation with a low pitched roof before.  I am aware  that I need a roof rake for the next season.  Mr. [redacted] also said that all roof rakes were sold out at local stores.  This is just typical, that the sales person would make false promises and now I'm left with a mess because of what I feel is shoddy work.  Perhaps I should take a picture of my ceiling and put an advertisement in the local paper indicating "if you want your ceiling to look like this contact KC Construction for a new roof"!  I have been in the legal business for over 31 years and I know what I heard and what I was told.  As for my homeowners insurance, they would cover ice damage but not water damage.  I'm now caught between a rock and a hard  place.  Word of mouth will go far.  I even had a fellow here who has been in the roofing business speak with the workman and he was told that something certainly wasn't right with the installation.

To whom it may concern,
I am in receipt of your email regarding a complaint from [redacted].  There are several statements made by Ms. [redacted] that I would like to address.  The initial appointment was handeled by [redacted], an estimater, not [redacted]. ...

She states that the salesperson said that the company would be responsible for damages inside the home should the roof ever leak.  We have a very detailed system in place for our estimaters to follow that includes what our responsibilities are if there is a problem.  There are certain warrantees that come with a new roof.  A blanket statement that we would be responsible for the damages inside the home would never have been made.  If there are any damages caused by the work that we have done at the home or a product has failed within the warrantee period, we take full responsibility.  There are many reasons that a roof may leak.  In additiion the statement that "everyone's roof leaks at this time of year" said to have been made by myself is not the case.  It is not logical that I would make that statement because the statement is simply not true. The roof was installed at the [redacted] home in August of 2011.  The roof has a low pitch to it.  Our first calll from Ms. [redacted] was in January 2013.  At that time, our installation manager, [redacted] went to the home and observed that there was alot of ice and snow on the roof.  This causes water to back up under the shingles.  This is not a failure of the roof.  The note on the repair request is that the customer was ok with that explanation.  We removed the ice and snow for the homeowner at no charge and told her that she needed to have someone remove the ice and  snow from her roof periodically in order to avoid the prolem in the future.  The second call from Ms. [redacted] was in February of 2014.  The customer had the same complaint of water leaking.  The installation manager went to the home and again observed alot of ice and snow on the roof.  Again, we cleared the snow free of charge and told the homeowner that she needed to have someone come and remove the ice and snow periodically.  In March of 2014 we received the third call from Ms. [redacted] stating that her roof was leaking after a heavy rain.  This is the first time rain was indicated.  The installation manager went to the home and found a damaged ridge vent, which most likely was caused by ice and snow or heavy winds.  We replaced the complete ridge vent (70 ft.) free of charge.  I had no obligation to the customer to clear off ice and snow or to replace the ridge vent at no charge, but in the interest of customer service, I chose to do so. I have been in business for over 29 years in this community,  KC Construction has a reputation of doing quality work.  I have gone above what is ethically required of my in order to address Ms. [redacted]'s concerns with her roof.  The damage caused to the interior of her home is in no way due to the quality of the job I did for her.  At no time was she told she needed to heat the closet. The interior damage is not our responsibility or caused by our negligence or work.  We certainly stand behind our product and any warrantee we provided.  Ice damming and water backup damage is typically covered by homeowner's insurance because it is storm damage. My suggestion for Ms. [redacted] to contact her insurance company. Sincerely,   [redacted] J. [redacted]  President, KC Construction
