Licensed contractor that did not have a permit to build on my property from the county of Lake. Now will not contact me.
This contractor was hired in March 2018 to build an addition on the property. After weeks of neglect to my complaints on the workmanship, I called Lake county permitting office because I didn't feel this was structurally sound and wanted an answer of what to do until they come out and inspect. After giving the permitting office my address, I was told he didn't have a permit and should not be building on the residence. They sent Lake County Inspectors/Investigators out and I explained everything to them. They issued a stop work order on my property and I now can not get a hold of the contractor. I had to tarp my entire roof on July 28th 2018 in order to hope that the afternoon storms don't get into my main roof where they have it open and cut electrical wires as well.
He has built the flooring that fell apart. Walls with gaps. A floor with a giant hole. Rafters that don't have a correct angle in them. Workers already kicked off property for drinking on the job. Workers that stole from my residence. I have pictures and proof of all the status from start to where we are now and I do not want anyone else to fall victim to this contractor. I, potentially, can lose a large sum of money and the owner of this property is my mother, ***, whom is a senior citizen currently in the hospital. I have lived here for over 7 years as this is my residence as well. I also am my mothers power of attorney as well.
I want a full refund of the 5 draws given for building without a permit and knowing full well that this place was unsound and unsafe since it has not been approved by the Lake County Building office. Draw one: $2385 Deposit signing proposal March 2nd, 2918 Draw two: $4770 Acceptance of floor plan on March 6th 2918 Draw three: $3577.50 Commencement of Work-March 21, 2018. Draw Four: $3852.50 - Completion of concrete March 23 2018 Draw Five- $4162.50 Completion of Framing-July 14th 2018 July 27th found out he doesn't have a permit. Therefore everything he has done is not inspected or has it been approved to build. Total refund needs to be $18,747.50
Trying to get contractor to communicate with me and return my initial deposit of $1,287.50.
Contracted with Holmes Construction on 6/19/17 to re-face kitchen cabinets, paint island & 2 chairs. Gave deposit of $1,287.50, ck was cashed 6/21/17. Measurements taken in July, installation was supposed to be August. Could not reach Mr. H until August 15th, even though I tried numerous times by phone & text. On 8/28th he told me installation would begin 8/29. On 8/29, no show & no call, requested return on my deposit on 8/30 via call & text. Again, no communication
Requesting a full refund of my deposit from Holmes Construction in the amount of $1,287.50. Would prefer it be in a cashier's check or money order.

This complaint is in regards to Holmes Construction, not the Leesburg Area Chamber of Commerce. The business, Holmes Construction is also not a member of the Chamber, therefore, we do not have the ability to help or take action against said company.

That is correct - I received a full refund after getting the Seniors Vs Crime division of the Florida State Attorney General's Office involved. They were instrumental in my receiving the return of my deposit monies.
