[redacted] came in to station all upset, her car had no power (Mazda-Tribute). To confirm customer's concern, I took her car for a road test. I went out by way of the north driveway, and came back in the south driveway, felt the problem immediately.
Transported [redacted] home in station car.
Technician began testing car for no power.. Removed oxygen sensor before rear catalytic converter. With the oxygen sensor removed, took car for a second road test (with oxygen sensor out of system, exhaust gas has escape route through the porthole that is sealed when the oxygen sensor is inserted into the exhaust stream). Car ran okay and had power.
Told [redacted] rear catalytic converter was clogged and flex pipe was leaking.
After getting approval to renew rear catalytic converter and flex pipe, we found broken pieces from the front catalytic converter clogging rear converter.
Told [redacted] the finding that the front converter damaged the the rear converter, and that she should replace the front and rear converters. She said she could not afford anything else.
Told her that the warranty on the catalytic converter was for manufactor's defects, not from being clogged or from some other system that would damage the catalytic converter.
Told customer front catalytic converter should be replaced so the same problem will not happen again. She said she cannot afford anything at this time and hoped it would be okay.
Conversation was between [redacted] and Mr. [redacted]. -- [redacted]

Response:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: I was NEVER informed that there were broken pieces of the front cadylidic converter found in the rear one. I happen to break down right near
Holmes service station and at that point had no choice in the matter, the care was not drivable. I resided on [redacted] in [redacted] directly behind the service station and rarely used their services, (other than for gas). I always went out of my way to take my car else where because there were other occasions
when I did take my car for inspection and was told by [redacted] that it would not pass unless I had several things fixed which amounted to well over $1,500. I then took it to an alternate station on Sunrise Highway in [redacted] and the car passed inspection without needing any additional work with the exception of
an oil change.
When I picked up my car I was told it was running great, "very smooth" was the gentlemans exact words. Less than 24 hours later my engine light came on and the car began to run "rough" again. I called [redacted] and he was extremely rude and unaccommodating. He said "what do you want me to do?" and I responded
I want you to fix it. It is only one day and I just spent $1461.00, this shouldn't happen. He was extremely rude and said Iam not fixing it for free. I feel service stations and other service businesses count on return customers and customer referrals. I cannot and will not recommend his business because of my experience.
