Roof Structure was inspected by Tom I [redacted] of Pacific NW Home Inspections prior to Home Comfort ReConstruction performing the roof installation and was deemed structurally fine Richard O [redacted] of Home Comfort ReConstruction viewed the attic prior to installation and made no comments regarding the roof structure Based on these specific points it is clear to us that the roof was structural intact and the visible difference is to the installation of the shingles Had the chimney been taken down right away during the tear off of the old shingles and then the application of the new shingles been uniformly installed as per the contract there would be no visible difference that we have to see every day and be afraid of potential compromises Key is structurally fine, cosmetically would be a different storyIt’s not the shingles or the pattern, it’s the underlying structureNot a roofers job as we are responsible for the sheathing and anything above the truss workPlease read the contract As the owners we can confirm that we were not happy with the clean up results The clean up was brought up on several occasions to Home Comfort ReConstruction prior to filing this Revdex.com complaint We felt this was the only choice to be heard and to let others know of the poor service we received Again this is being brought up in conjunction with the complaint, we do not have a record of this being an issue in the past with this client The gutters were not installed correctly as is evident by the leaks inside of my home and throughout the extent of the gutters (East side of our home) I provided a video to Richard showing water running off the roof because of the incorrect placement of the downspot In addition, I have proof that the gutter guards were installed incorrectly They were installed upside down and have pictures to prove this The gutters on the East side of my home where the leaks occurred are easily accessible and have been cleaned diligently since installation The problem is that they leak from the outside lip as well as against the home This was evident by the leaks in my house and the massive icicles that formed due to the gutters not being installed propertyDownspout was moved per the customers request, the gutter guards were also installed correctly, what happened between when they were installed and when those photos were taken is not something we wan to speculate on The gutters were not clogged and the icicles that formed on the inside of the gutters and continued down the siding is solely due to poor installation by his workers Richard has stated that he did not install the gutters that he subbed this work out As the contractor he needs to go back to the subs and get them to fix this I originally had very big gutters there and he told me the ones to purchase that would work and he lied They were too small and he didn’t care The leaks came into my home and are still coming into the same spots inside The ceiling is still moist when it rains outside This worries me very much for mold and health reasons This all could have been avoided had Richard been honest and stood by his workers/productsThe 5k gutters do work, if properly maintainedOn the video, you can clearly see debris that are contributing to the runoff over the gutter guardsWe also concede that gutter guards right under the down spout may contribute to the water not going into the gutterA quick fix is to reroute the down spout directly into the gutterThis was offered as a solution in conjunction with the 6k gutters being installed at costWe have not heard back from the customer regarding this A temporary fix would be to remove the gutter guard directly under the down spout, which the customer has already done as of 03/08/ I stand by my statement that I was told to pay an additional $6,for new gutters I was appalled at that number given that we were upsold to buy gutters initially and had no intention to get new ones as the ones in place worked very well Richard upsold my wife and I to buy gutters in the first place and he gave us poor advice The gutters were not an equal to what we originally had in place and I would not be surprised if he resold them to someone else or installed them elsewhere given their size and quality I only learned about this move later from people in the industryAgain let me reiterate this, we offered to install 6k gutters at cost, if that is what they wantThere was no mention of charging the customer $The Original gutters were on their last leg and went straight to the dump Attached above are documentation showing that the gutter guards were incorrectly installed (upside down) along with video of water running off house because of incorrect down spot Also, I am happy to supply you with written statements from Architects who saw my home stating the poor installation of the flashing on the home Thank you again for all your help All we are asking for is that the appropriate gutters be put up correctly, the downspout be put back to its correct location, stained shingles where the incorrect downspot water ran off be replaced and the water damage be fixed inside our home We did not ask to have this happen to us, we paid on time, we are good people being taken advantage of by a company and man that knows the system and is not afraid to break the rules Richard and Vince came to my home, harassed my wife, provided inferior service and quality and we will not stand for this PLEASE HELP USWe never harassed anyone, we took pictures of the gutters and roof that were visible from the side walk on public propertyThe customer’s wife saw this from the inside and came out to confront us, she then preceded to have a conversation with us that was laced with a few expletives on her partWe ignored this as we realized that individuals can say things when they are a little agitatedBy the end of that conversation we thought we had come to an agreement on a resolutionThis last paragraph puts that into question Again we are offering to replace the bottom gutters that are 5k into 6k at costThe customer is welcome to accept our offer via this venue or contact us by phone or email

I am rejecting this response because:
Point 1: Visible difference is due to roof structure and not shinglesWe suggest customer hire an engineer and have some truss work done to repair the issueRoof Structure was inspected by Tom I*** of Pacific NW Home Inspections prior to Home Comfort ReConstruction performing the roof installation and was deemed structurally fine. We felt this was the only choice to be heard and to let others know of the poor service we received. Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:MESSAGE FROM BUSINESS:Key is structurally fine, cosmetically would be a different story. It’s not the shingles or the pattern, it’s the underlying structure. Not a roofers job as we are responsible for the sheathing and anything above the truss work. Please read the contract. Richard O[redacted] is not answering the question.  The issue is that because he did not remove the chimney in the correct order and then had to go back and install shingles after the fact that there is a noticeable difference.  Now whether there should or should not be a noticeable difference is something that I am not aware of.  All I can say is that to anyone who views my roof can point out where there is an aesthetic and functional change in the shingles due to the poor installation by the roofing company.  This is not to mention that all of this could have been avoided had the roofers done what they were supposed to do and not forget to take down the chimney and be forced to go back and change things.  I do not agree with Richard referencing to "read the contract".  This seems to be his answer to everything.  What about his ethics and honesty?   Again this is being brought up in conjunction with the complaint, we do not have a record of this being an issue in the past with this client. The record would be verbal conversations that Richard and I had at my property and on the phone. Downspout was moved per the customers request, the gutter guards were also installed correctly, what happened between when they were installed and when those photos were taken is not something we wan to speculate on.  The statement that the "Downspot was moved per the customers request" is a patent lie.  This is such a fabrication of the truth.  I relied on Richard O[redacted] and Home Comfort Reconstruction to perform a good honest job on my home.  They are so far from that.  There was never in any point of my discussions with Richard that I expressly told him to moved the downspot.  The downspot ran right into another spot and Richard and his people that he hired moved it to another location (I have provided pictures of this).  Not only did it leave a nasty discoloration, but it sent water off of my roof onto my concrete patio that seeps into the foundation of my home.  Never would I have told Richard that I want the downspot there.  It was his hired people that moved the gutters where they sought fit.  It was Richard who explained to me that this was the correct location even after my several attempts to have it in the same location as previously been.  He told me that he was doing what was right and correct.  He told me the other people who installed it were cheapscapes and not good at their job.  In reality it was all lies from Richard.  Richard's statement that "what happened between when they (gutter guards) were installed and when those photos were taken is not something we want to speculate on" is at the highest degree of disrespect and shows how low a person and company he runs.  To insinuate that I went up on my roof and purposely took off the gutter guards and reinstalled them upside down is itic.  Please, this man is showing his true colors and I will not stand for him doing this to us.  If you came to my home you could see that some of the gutter guards are installed correctly, but there are several large sections where they are not.  This is the crew that Richard hired to perform the work on my home.  I do not even know if they are licensed workers or bonded.  Either way, Richard as the GC is responsible for the people he hires and they did an awful job costing me water damage, foundation damages, etc.   The 5k gutters do work, if properly maintained. On the video, you can clearly see debris that are contributing to the runoff over the gutter guards. We also concede that gutter guards right under the down spout may contribute to the water not going into the gutter. A quick fix is to reroute the down spout directly into the gutter. This was offered as a solution in conjunction with the 6k gutters being installed at cost. We have not heard back from the customer regarding this. A temporary fix would be to remove the gutter guard directly under the down spout, which the customer has already done as of 03/08/17. The 5k gutters are not sufficient for the slope of the roof.  They are significantly smaller than the original gutters that we had installed that Richard assured me would work the same.  This was not the case.  The debris that is seen on the video has nothing to do with the water running off my roof.  The gutter guards should not even come into play if the downspot was left were it originally was and ran directly into the other downspot to the ground.  Again, the shingles that are supposed to be 40 years and mildew proof have already stained because of the shoddy work performed.   Again let me reiterate this, we offered to install 6k gutters at cost, if that is what they want. There was no mention of charging the customer $6000. The Original gutters were on their last leg and went straight to the dump.  There original gutters were not on their last leg and I have no confirmation that they were sent to the dump.  Just like I never received any of the additional shingles that I purchased. I am still trying to verify if in fact the shingles that were installed were the 40 year Pabco mildew proof ones that I purchased.  When Richard refers to installing the 6k gutters at costs, does this mean at his cost?  I will not pay for something that we already paid for.  I was upsold gutters and paid an extra fee for a like gutter to the ones I had.  I was never provided a sample or sent any material on the gutters or placement of them.  To have water damage to my home, foundation damage, etc and be asked to pay for new gutters is not acceptable to me and my family.  This is not a solution from Richard.  A solution is that his company gets the gutter people back out to install the correctly (equivalent) gutters 6k to my roof and put the downspot back to its original place while fixing the water damage in my home.  That is a solution.  Sincerely,
[redacted]
